  • Welcome to MFP! Zumba is great exercise--good cardio and a fair number of strengthening moves, as well. Enjoy! It's my favorite way to work out. I'm a little lazy otherwise. I have the Zumba DVD's, but if I can get to a class, that is the best. The energy that others bring is exhilirating!
  • Weekly; Tuesday mornings before shower and coffee.
  • Very nice letter; I can identify. My father also died prematurely from an obesity related illness. Sorry for your loss, but you are inspiring others to make lifestyle changes for the better.

  • Keep snacks (i.e. not doughnuts) handy. A few good choices: apples (medium: 70-80 calories), oranges, air popped pop corn (Good Health has a 4 oz serving for 120 calories); 1 oz of nuts--I like almonds, so that's roughly about 28 almonds. Greek yogurt is also full of protein, and some of the flavors are actually pretty…
  • There is fat-free half and half (about 20 calories for 2 tsp). Also, you could try Stevia or Splenda as a sweetener. Lastly, if you just like the taste of coffee, you could drink decaf once you've gotten your caffeine fix in.
  • The food scale is a must; plus, I've gotten quite fond of Chobani Greek Yogurt, medium apples, clementines, almonds (Blue Diamond has some great flavors), and air popped popcorn (the brand I use is 4 cups for 120 calories!!). Also, definitely get your water in. Good luck.
  • Most things by Pitbull are pretty good. LMFAO also has pretty good dance tunes. Otherwise, I agree with the Pandora suggestion. The Zumba Fitness channel has great songs.
