Yes to all of the above comments on c25k. I use the one by Zen labs. Years ago I went from using that to running 5 miles a day for fun! I, too, hate(d) running, but the feeling after is amazing. Pace doesn’t matter...just keep moving. You should be proud of yourself! I find upbeat music helps (love Pandora). Sadly, I…

I’m in the same boat. I’ve been wearing Brooks Glycerin for years, but my feet have changed a bit as have the shoes (I started with Glycerin 11, I think and the 13s don’t feel the same). I suffer from plantar Fasciitis, have high arches etc. so off to a running shoe store I go lol....this week, I hope. Too many variables…

Depending on the model, you can get some cute bands. I have a flex 2 and love it, but haven’t looked into new bands yet, but it’s not huge like some of the more expensive fitbits. I see lots of people with fitbits mixed in with their bracelets....I think it’s neat. Fitbit motivates me to keep moving, plus you can compete…

Super late response.....yes!

You sound like me! I lost 50 but gained back 80. Ugh. Don’t feel ashamed to go to the gym....that’s what it’s there for. Buy yourself a cute gym outfit and go. I know, easier said than done.
-
Wonderful! I can’t wait to get that close.
-
That’s excellent!

No, I had stopped logging and just gave up. It took about 6 months to lose the 50 lbs. I was very very strict with what I ate.
-
Add me too! My feed is tooo quiet! I’m restarting so may not have the best food diary, plus I love beer lol. I lost 50 years ago but put it back on....plus extra (81 lbs sadly). I’m going to try to add everyone on this thread.....we got this!

Just chiming in because 1) I also need a good sports bra and 2) lower back pain from running comes can also come from your back having to pick up the lack of strength and flexibility in other muscles that are required to hold us upright.....hips, core, legs etc. I was an avid runner a few years ago and had lower back pain…

In order to gain muscle you need to increase your calories. That sounds weird, but it’s true. If you’re losing muscle instead of fat, then you are not eating enough. Your body has to take the calories from somewhere. I highly recommend strength training and less cardio, increase your calories and take vitamins. Which…

I lost a lot of weight in 2012 and slowly gained it back. I was a size 4 now I’m a 16/18. I’m heavier than when I had my son....I gained 70 lbs. I had more excuses as to why I gained weight....depression, love food, don’t care etc. I eat junk food then feel bad. I cry because my clothes don’t fit and I feel ugly. Well, I’m…

Kettle bells are fun. Here's a few exercises. I do the first 2 and get great results: http://www.bodybuilding.com/content/the-6-best-kettlebell-exercises-you-need-to-do.html

I love that DVD! Good luck with it! I had great results when I did it last year. Sadly I lost the DVD but am buying it again.

I was an avid treadmill runner until about a year ago....,then I got lazy, but I'm back at it. I highly recommend the C25K app by Zen labs. It's free. It builds you up to be able to run a 5k. The workout starts off easy and intensifiy gradually. I currently walk at a 3.5 mph pace and run at a 5 mph.

I was an avid Nike consumer until I bought my first pair of Brooks (Glycerin) and now Altras (Torin)....I like cushion running shoes. I do a lot of walking and I run (or try to anyway). How are yours wearing? The bottoms? I highly recommend you get fitted for a proper shoe to accommodate your feet. There are many running…

I have a Fitbit, and you do not have to pay. It syncs with mfp app. I only log my work outs in mfp, but do get a Fitbit adjustment many days that I'm active (I under estimate my calorie burn when working out). On days I do not go to the gym, but am active doing household things I get a credit. Only log your workouts in mfp…

Lol, food is certainly enjoyable especially in social settings, but my set back is not that. It's night time eating while doing homework. I've been doing this since January 2014....you're right, I can do this. I'm brushing off the past few weeks and starting over with a new attitude. Thank you for the feedback! Sometimes I…

Thank you :-) I really do have to be nice to myself and forgive myself. I've found since I started eating unhealthy foods I feel more hungry. I know this will pass. I'm terrible with drinking water....I'll fill a bottle now and sip throughout the day like I was doing before.

I know exactly how you feel....weight loss is great and sorta easy at first then one slides back into their old ways. I have a hard time with night time eating.

I agree with the above comment! Like others before me said, it took 20/25 lbs before people started noticing, but it was in the winter and I wear baggy clothing. I was talking to classmates before class back in March and a close friend (in my class) asked about my progress, I told her I was at 18 lbs. lost. She said I…

I started with c25k, but never finished due to lack of cell service in the gym, but it was a great starting point. I would alternate between running and walking on the treadmill just like the beginning of c25k. My goal was to increase my run time each week. I started walking for 2 minutes then running for 3 for a total of…

You said you suffered from depression in the past and exercise reminds you of such. Did you also suffer from panic attacks, if you are not comfortable in answering then please don't, but know that I suffered with anxiety and depression since my teens. Just some food for thought: Exercise causes increased heart rate,…

Hi Dave. I used to be a fat mom. I gained the weight slowly and didn't realize how it influenced my self-esteem and energy levels. My poor son had the mom who would sit and watch him play at the park, but now he has the mom that chases him and climbs on the monkey bars:) Logging your food is a great start! I commend you on…

I use map my run app to keep track of my distance, pace, and calories burned for my running. I am the person that needs to see the results displayed on a screen so I can keep track and better myself each week. I have done the c25k and 30DS and loved them both! I have done both in the same day and had no problems, but my…

I am eating 1200 calories too. There is something called Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) which is the calories your body burns if you stay in bed all day....mine is 1464, we don't stay in bed all day so you take your BMR and multiple it by a specific number. The number is based on your activity level.. Check out this link:…

Congrats on the 1.8! I highly recommend you eat your 3 meals and add in 2 healthy snacks to keep your metabolism going. I agree to with everyone else with 1600 calories. But I would be careful eating the calories you earn from exercise...Personally, I would only eat half of them back, if at all. And remember drink lots of…

I have the Fitbit Flex and love it. It helps keep me motivated and it syncs with My fitness pal. It is more than a pedometer...it tracks calories burned, your sleep, and you can set it to the goal(s) you want to achieve. If you know others with a fitbit - you can "compete" with them. I love the weekly reports I receive - I…

Welcome to MFP! I love this site and have had great results. I use the app on my phone which is super helpful when I am not at home....I find myself more accountable since I have to log everything I eat. I am into week 7 and have lost 21 lbs. I am a grad student and a stay at home mom. I sent you a friend request. The…

I always wondered if "starvation mode" was in fact real, I understand "starvation response" (the slowing of the metabolism in response to too few calories as a way to survive). I feel fine eating the way I do - I have not had this much energy in years! I need to stop worrying, lol. I appreciate the responses and honest…
