  • I could use more active friends, a lot of mine seem to have stopped logging in.
  • Another pound and I'll have lost a cinder block. My goal is somewhere between the worlds largest ball of tape and a newborn calf lol.
  • I'll join. SW: 220lbs CW: 188lbs GW for May: 183lbs
  • I use WW as well as MFP, had more success with sticking to WW personally but prefer the community here. I find there is sometimes quite a discrepancy between the two as I can use all my WW points and still be 400+ calories under my MFP goal. Not all the time, just now and then so it's not something I worry about. Took me a…
  • I've lost 20lbs so far and really can't see a difference. I've not even gone down a dress size yet although my clothes are a little looser now. My engagement ring fits again so apparently I've lost weight in my fingers but who is going to notice that!
  • I used to get the opposite in real life, people would see my full plate of food and go "I thought you were on a diet, you can't eat that much on a diet" or "how can you expect to lose weight eating all that?" and other things along those lines but I found that with eating the right things I needed to eat a lot more to get…

  • I count my 2 hour walks with the dog as exercise. It's not a slow amble around the park, it's a brisk walk through woods and fields and there are small hills I have to go up and down. If I walk to the shops I count that too as again it's at a brisk pace. I don't count wandering around the shops, taking the dog around the…
  • I have a 2 year old Labradork called Spencer. He came to us at 9 months old, yet another victim of the "oh we're being posted back to the UK and can't possibly take him with us" syndrome that's so prevalent in the forces. Have to say I'm glad they decided he wasn't important enough to take with them though because it means…
  • Yup. I live in jeans and big baggy tshirts.
  • No success story yet. I started out at 220lbs, currently 203lbs and have a goal weight of 130lbs. I think the first step for me was getting off my backside and getting some exercise, even if it's only a long walk with the dog. Good luck to you all
  • I believe this is the sort of thing my doc was getting at with the "stop feeling sorry for yourself" thing. I realised I've been doing the exact same thing. Been back to the docs for a review of how I'm getting on and saw a different doctor today as mine was off sick. He basically said to get out in the fresh air and…

  • I never said you were feeling sorry for yourself, I said my psychiatrists words basically amounted to me getting off my backside, making an effort to do things and stop feeling sorry for myself. And yeah, at times I DID feel sorry for myself and sit wallowing in self pity which made me feel even worse. I don't know anyone…

  • I have depression and a psychiatrist who believes medication is way over prescribed. His advice to me was basically (in nicer words) to get off my *kitten*, stop feeling sorry for myself and get out there and do things. Take a course to give my mind something to do, physically do something to give my body something to do.…

  • I'm taking it one step at a time. I've been diagnosed with depression but the psychiatrist I saw doesn't want me medicated unless there's no other option so I've had my orders to get myself out and about, get myself moving and get using my brain instead of sitting around doing nothing and feeling more and more sorry for…
  • Labradors don't do rest days so no matter what I at least get out for a couple of hours walking. Might not seem much but I find the getting out and about really helps my depression.
  • Doesn't seem to matter whether we eat rubbish or reasonably healthy stuff here, the food bill comes to roughly the same over the course of the month. Yeah, the healthy stuff can be more expensive but we're not buying the cakes, crisps, chocolate etc so what we save there tends to make up for the added cost of the healthier…
  • Not a fan of veggies either. If they're just there on the plate I make myself eat them first then I can enjoy the rest of my meal. I'm okay if they're mixed in like in cottage pie or something though. I don't particularly like fruit either and have to force myself to eat that too. Unless it's strawberries with sugar and…
  • MFP tells me that the slow paced 90 minute walk me and my dog did today burned 345 calories. Apparently my usual fast 30 minute walk to the fields, the hours slower walk around the fields and the fast 30 minute walk home burns around 500 calories. Everything I've checked gives me roughly the same amount of calories burned…
  • I get just as engrossed in an audio book unfortunately. I listen to them while cross stitching and find myself just sitting there, needle part way through the fabric doing absolutely nothing. I do like my audio books though and find Audible a good place to get them without paying a fortune if anyone's interested.

  • I'm not really one to give a monkeys what others think of me. However spending 3 hours sitting by myself at a social event because the other wives completely blanked me whenever I tried to talk to them actually did make me feel like *kitten* at the time. But then I thought well it's them who are rude and shallow and I…
  • Oh definitely. I lost 40lbs with weight watchers years ago and found people treated me a lot better when I was slim. People working in shops were more polite and helpful, people (men mostly) on public transport were more likely to give up a seat. Silly little things like that. Then I got put on meds for my epilepsy, gained…
  • Lol! I tried that too and exactly the same thing happened to me. Just ended up sitting there on the bike reading coz I got too engrossed to remember to keep pedalling :grumble: Good luck to you too!

  • I would rather watch paint dry or grass grow than go to the gym or do an exercise dvd or anything like that. I find it mind numbingly boring. The whole nice body thing isn't enough motivation for me to get off my backside and go to the gym. I walk the dog but that's about it. I'd love to go swimming but my doctor has…
  • I wanted to "diet" in a way I could maintain for the rest of my life. Cutting out foods I genuinely enjoy was simply not an option because I'd just end up falling off the wagon, bingeing on them and never getting back on track. I don't want to be one of these people who refuses things because they're "bad", if I eat out or…
  • If you're being kept awake by hunger then just eat something later in the evening. Works for me.
  • Are you netting 1200 calories or eating 1200 calories total? If it's the latter then that could be the reason you're not losing weight. I don't eat back all my exercise calories most of the time, I usually just eat back enough to keep me above 1200 NET. And I agree with whoever said to measure everything. It's surprising…
  • Another pound lost this week taking me to 211lbs. Sorry I've not been around much, I've been feeling absolutely awful lately and ended up having a seizure last night. Been expecting one for a while and hopefully now that it's finally hit and got itself over with I'll be a bit more with it and able to be around a bit more.…
  • Cheese. I refuse to even try to cut it out of my diet, I don't want a life without cheese. And it's got to be full fat too. I just make sure to weigh how much I'm having and add it to my calories.
  • 1lb down this week, takes me to 212lbs.
