  • Firstly, congratulations on signing up for the 8K! You want to give your legs at least a 3 day break before the 8K. But I'd recommend going for a fast(ish) 5K 4 days before. Remember, you aren't racing against the other folks. There's all kinds of standards of runner, and you don't know the back story of any of them. I'd…
  • Healthwise: Of course it depends on your level of fitness, but if you're going to run 1 or 2 miles every week or so then 5km shouldn't be too much of an extra push. Practically: I recently ran a half marathon for my first time and while I trained heavily in advance, I realised that the only thing I was competing against…
  • Good work! Keep at it. 20lbs is a big milestone!
  • No one's mentioned breathing. Absolutely crucial part of doing push ups. It's breathe in on the way up. Breathe slowly out on the way down as you lower yourself. Start on the knees or against a low wall or steps like someone suggested. You'll get there in no time. Rock on!

  • Well done on your efforts. It's so true it gets easier. You could always choose to lightly jog some of the distance to reduce the time it take. You'll burn at least the same number of cals. Keep on runnin'!
  • I've had a similar experience with my wife. I don't share my progress with her to get approval or compliments. I share it because I think she should be doing it too. It's like you say, we strive to have something in common with our partners, an experience to share. But she's still smoking and drinking, and she hasn't done…
  • I have been doing Goshindo (a defensive form of Karate) for 3 years.
  • Did the same with a bowl of Thai chicken satay this weekend. I think I was just bored. I should have read a book (not a cookbook :o) )or played a video game or something. But as said earlier, it's a blip...the most important thing is you recognise it and do something about it. I'm going for a run tonight. Which is one run…
