  • You are going to get a lot of opinions on BMI. You just said you don't look overweight, and you probably don't. I work in a doctors office and deal with BMI on a daily basis. Many times I look at BMI and think damn. However, you also said you want to lose 15 - 20 pounds. Calculate your BMI at your goal weight and see what…
  • I only started loosing consistantly when I read and followed your guide. So thanks!
  • Do you have any issues with blood pressure?
  • As a nurse, and with your diagnosis', you didn't mention if you were on medication or in any type of therapy. You are doing the right things, but a majority of people with your diagnosis' need therapy, meds or both. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Are you doing either or both of these?
  • I am a nurse and we currently have two patients on the Qsymia and 1 patient taking regular topamax and phentermine. I personally would only recommend it for those with more than 100 pounds to loose that need something to help with motivation, and then only for a very short period of time. The side effects outweigh the…
  • I am a nurse and I'm not sure what a hystermony is. I would guess that exercises that target using your abdomenal muscles would help strengthen them.
  • Just looking at your face, you can see how much happier you are. That is the focus, you look awesome, and very inspiring. Stay happy and keep on keeping on!
  • I love you SideSteel
  • what she said!!
  • eggs, chicken, oats, rice. Save your money and don't get ramen. That's has like nothing good for you in it.
  • I started at 235. I was depressed about that weight, but once I hit 5 pounds lost, I got this feeling of accomplishment and it felt great, it was the motivation to turn that 5 pounds to 46 and going.
  • Just to chime in and repeat another poster http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12 It's an extremely helpful post that put things in order for me. I check back to it every month or so. I encourage you to read it.
  • (almost) Everyone that comes through for a colonoscopy, or an endoscopy, or an epidural injection, and some orthopedic procedures. I have not heard anyone screaming in the operating room, so if they were in a "screaming" amount of pain they didn't show it. It was given to my 3 year old why they set and casted a fracture of…
  • I do keep an eye on what my oldest eats. I once figured up what her caloric intake should be for sedentary - because that is what she is most of the time. I keep her meals on par with mine, and try to teach her about healthy foods versus not healthy. She is 11 and 20 pounds overweight, which is completely and totally my…
  • I've heard from patients that after taking the fish oil, they take 1/2 tsp of cinnamin and it "cures" the "fish burps" I don't know if it's true, but worth a try once to see if it works. Doesn't matter if you space them or take them all at once.
  • Call him and ask him or his nurse these questions. They may want you to come in for an appointment so you can chat face to face. If you are ever unsure about a treatment reccomendation it's your duty as a patient to ask, and the doctors duty to answer and explain until you feel you understand. signed, a nurse.
  • Started in May, and lost 46 pounds so far. The heavier your starting weight, the easier it is to lose. Once you get closer to your goal the weight loss slows down. I've been plateaued for a few weeks now, but I'm not sweating it. If I'm not gaining, it's a victory.
  • Lots of great ideas. I have a "skinny shirt" and I wear it every weekend to remind me how far I've come. Even if you got a clearance rack tank top that you could wear under something (since it's cold cold cold), something that makes you feel good and reminds you how far you have come.
  • About 4 years ago I had a consult with a plastic surgeon about getting a reduction. He took measurements and said that I qualify for a reduction. I didn't go through with it becuase I knew my husband wanted to have another kid, so I thought I'd hold off until 1 more kid, then get the reduction. Now with the weight I've…
  • I'm going to try looking at them as fat pills. My weakness is Reeses and my kids always sort and hand me all the Reeses. Stay away from me little fat pills!
  • Great post and I totally agree with it.
  • You both look great. The picture of you standing in your old pants really did it for me. I've been discouraged a few times by a slow down in my loss, but that picture really puts the big (no pun intended) picture back in the front of my mind. Great job both of you. Your husband is pretty cute too.
  • Beautiful! You look like a different person, and you look much happier as well. Very inspiring!
  • I worked for a GI doc for a few years and his main source of patients were just screening colonoscopies. If you are age 50, it's time for a screening. Once you do it, if its normal you are good for 5 years! If it's not, good thing you had it done now didn't you. Unless I have problems that warrant one sooner, I'll be…
  • Not only do you look like a different person (except the eyes) congratulations on getting your life back. If only more people were motivated to help themselves there would be so many happy people around.
  • I skipped a lot of pages, but I had a similiar situation although not nearly as bad a reaction. I worked for my favorite doctor in an office full of people I loved but the job was so tedius and boring. I literally would fall asleep standing up some days. Some days I'd get up 10 minutes before I had to be there and my job…
  • I don't ever look at how much I have to loose. I look at what I've lost. You have to make small goals and turn things into a positive light. If I told myself I had to lose 85 pounds when I started, I don't think I would have made it this far.
  • I really just don't know what to say. As a nurse, and also someone on an anti-depressant, there is a lot of bad info here. Please please please ask your doctor their recommendation. Everyone reacts to every drug differently. Anecdotal, when I was younger, not a nurse, and pretty dumb, I was on Zoloft and controlled fine. I…
