I have a Wii boxing game. I haven't played it in a while. Walking on a treadmill at a high speed, and/or incline will also help boost your lung capacity for running. I'm not sure what you are worried you can't do in regards to running. Without that information it's hard to know what to suggest.

Many coffee shops have skinny options for their flavored lattes. They use sugar free syrup, and 2% milk. As someone who went from sweet lattes to Americanos I would suggest you try to wean yourself off of them. I quit cold turkey, and went almost 6 months with no coffee at all. It was rough at first. Then I went to drip…

If you are anxious then you are stressed.

This was an actual thread. I'm to lazy to look it up, but it's in the general forum.

I don't understand your last post. If he isn't underweight what is the reasoning for him gaining weight in future appointments?

People will pay attention, but that's okay. Other runners will smile and wave. People who like to run, but aren't running, will smile and waive. Kids will say hi. Dogs will bark. Every once in a while I get a whoop, "run Forrest", or something from a passing car. Once you get yourself out there chances are pretty good you…

I was talking to my sister about this the other day. She's never been over weight. She gets comments all the time about her low (normal) weight. She was training for a Spartan race which included heavy lifting. She started dropping her already low BF% as a result. People came out of the woodwork to tell her that she was…

I have been the past few weeks. The biggest benefit for me is when I compress my calories into a shorter window of time I can eat meals differently. I often have 1,000 calories available for dinner, which is how I prefer to eat. I'm getting further into my training schedule now, I have a half marathon on June 11th, and I'm…

I don't really think you misused the word. I was 5'6" 116 lbs when I was 17, and that was not a healthy weight for me. I certainly didn't have the body fat percentage I have now. That is what I think of in regards to my "skinny" self, and I really have no desire to get back there. If I dropped my BF% now it would be from…

I'm not skinny. I'm 5'6" and about 165ish pounds. I'm in the "normal" weight category for my height, if you look at charts/standards. I didn't lose weight because of a need to be skinny. I lost weight because I was suffering from poor health. I'm normal on all of my stats; BP, cholesterol, blood sugar etc, for the first…

THIS! OMG this is so true. OP I had this struggle, and so I stopped weighing myself. I did have a 5lb gain, because at the same time I dropped my activity level. I'm back to weighing myself, but it doesn't seem to matter like it did before.

I have a family member like this, except for the 5k calorie thing. She has an autoimmune disease that she says is controlled with eating a raw diet. She juices a lot, and does fasts. She's a consultant for a wellness clinic helping people with autoimmune problems, cancer, etc. I think in a lot of ways she helps people with…

Also I think a lot of people have general health problems that they cannot pinpoint the reason for. Some of those health problems are probably related to how they eat. These people seem to strongly cling to the diets that seem to provide all the answers. Honestly a lot of the time people with overall poor health sometimes…

I don't know how large breasted you are, but when I was a 38H I used Enell sports bras. It provided adequate support. Enell sizes may go into your size range. They are one of the larger options. I use Shock Absorber now at a 34DD.

I have this problem too. My water container is sitting here woefully empty. If I needed to remind myself I would set something up in Outlook, since I'm usually attached to my computer screen.

I lost the same amount over a longer period of time simply because I wanted to eat more. It is definitely doable before August. I think that's about 2 lbs a week.

I have considered carrying bear spray. I live in a rural city, and sometimes I run in areas where there are dangerous animals. I don't normally run trails in the dark, but we have had moose come through the city before. I'm always worried about spooking a moose when I'm on a trail. Those suckers can be mean as hell.

Bloating...I feel bloated and super full a lot after eating bread, so I rarely eat it. Makes me uncomfortable, especially sitting at my desk at work. I eat lots of grains from other sources. If you are considering doing an elimination diet it's really important to use logs. Have you done them before? When determining…

Yes. Run against traffic, so you can see who is approaching you. Wear something that makes you visible. I use a head lamp. I run with music, but I don't use headphones, I just let my phone play audibly. If you want to then I would only use one ear bud. I live on the 49th parallel so it gets dark around 4:00PM before the…

I make room for beer, but I don't drink it anywhere near as often as I used to. I can easily consume half of my day's calories in beers. A lot of runners love beer. At least one of the races I have done you got free beer at the end. I did a half marathon along the Hood River this summer, and the packet pick up was IN A…

Mine was packed, and a bunch of people were getting tours.

@jgnatca I think I derailed your thread, and I didn't really intend to. Discussions about correlation and causation are beneficial to have. Obviously I brought my own bias reading the article.
-
Yes I certainly can. There's an old joke one of my instructors had; If you don't have anything to say, you can at least say it in color.
-
I skimmed the article. The information wasn't anything I didn't already know, so I didn't find what she said particularly interesting. I found all the gigantic graphics, and her writing style, irritating. That's really the only reason I posted. Most of the time I ignore conversations about whether the layperson is educated…

Sauces are super popular in sushi places right now. So be careful with those. Nigiri is a good option if you want the rice, as well as traditional rolls that don't add avocado. Good sashimi is heavenly.

I do overall cross training which includes strength training, and Plyometrics. My running has improved significantly since incorporating cross training into my routine. What helped me, you don't have to do this, is being evaluated by a qualified trainer for my areas that needed overall improvement. We then designed a plan…

Why? Not every qualitative study uses poor data collection. I think you would be better served to look at the studies themselves, not the media synopsis, and then determine what is going on. If the concern is that people think correlation equals causation, or that they are cutting beef out of their diets at a nutritional…

The stuff she is talking about is known about all qualitative research. Is this her way of giving a person a crash course in statistics and data analysis? I do market research. We learn how to mitigate bias, deal with measurement inconsistencies, and errors. I don't understand what she wants us to gather from this. That…

I did the South Beach Diet once about 12 years ago. For two weeks you eat nothing but protein and vegetables. Then you can add back in fruit and whole grains. I lost weight rapidly, I think I lost like 15lbs in the first two weeks. I was constantly starving during the first weeks. I had a really hard time with it. I…
