Somebody really flagged MY personal life experience as Woo? Wow. Just Wow. You all reminded me of another one. I should start getting this one when I get about halfway to goal. You look fantastic, but you need to stop losing now or it's going to be too much. I don't know if people think they are flattering me when they say…

Funny you brought this up. Just had someone give me the old "Ya' know, they say . . . " bizness the other day about a diet soda. Actually it was Coke Zero, which is delicious. Anyway, I had mentioned that I have laid off carbonated drinks (because of bloating from the carbonation, not because of the fear of aspartame or…

I went vegan a few years ago, because I believed it would help me to be healthier. I actually began to rapidly gain weight. What I learned: Don't buy a bunch of junk vegan substitute foods like vegan cheese and boca burgers. Eat real and raw, as raw as you can stand it, vegan. Don't go crazy with bread and corn chips. Make…

When a serious boyfriend of mine noticed that I really struggled paycheck to paycheck as a single parent paying big child support to my kids alleged "SAH dad" POS ex, he suggested I should move in with him. Our relationship was going great, and his very small, very old house was paid for. Still, I was reluctant to move in…

Your story sounds very, very similar to mine, with the exception of #7. Well, yes I actually am an emotional eater, as well. But I am a very happy person and don't feel emotional "pain" per se (not since I divorced my previous husband more than 11 years ago). I'm more likely to eat when I'm feeling particularly happy and…

I downloaded this book last night. I also downloaded the audio, but honestly, the narrator's nasally voice is grating. But the book! Wow, fascinating so far! Thanks so much for that.

8 month/ 4 month, probably not that strict of a time frame, but ok. And yes, I am overeating a lot when I overeat. I have always been able to "put away the groceries" so to speak, even when I was thin. No, not too busy to track. Usually too busy to meal plan and prep, take-out meals becomes much more frequent. Bored, well…

Thank you both. I will check on that book. I mean it sounds like common sense, but it doesn't feel that way. I know the pattern, and I know WHEN (in the year) it happens because of the years of data on MFP. But, I don't know exactly HOW it happens or the exact moment it happens, and it would be wonderful if Mr. Duhigg has…

Maybe I'm asking an unanswerable question . . . . and if I knew the answer, I'd be a gajillionaire.

Please explain further. I am desperate for any insight that can be offered.

Crickets up in here . . . . .

Lid to my food processor . . . . seriously where could it be?

Definitely this. Also, with exercise, your body becomes more efficient over time. So, if you begin a 45 minute per day running habit, you are initially able to eat X amount of calories and lose weight. But, as your body becomes more fit, and thus more efficient at doing that routine, you burn fewer calories doing it. Now…

Uh no. Before the invention of artificial insulin, the only way to manage diabetes was through a low carb diet. Low carb diets actually help regulate blood sugar. OP may be experiencing insulin resistance, which would account for her still feeling hungry even after a large meal. In fact, OP's experience sounds very similar…

I think the answer to this question is not just going to be different for different people, it HAS to be different for different people. Some people have specific health issues that necessitate dietary guidelines to maintain their health, but that for someone else would be detrimental to their health. As far as cancer…

This. I think those who are making the argument against the cliché may be working from the assumption that the person in question is just eating at maintenance. Maybe OP is, in fact, eating at maintenance. But, how do you know unless you are already controlling/tracking your diet? Personally, I didn't get fat…

Rewatched "Napoleon Dynamite" yesterday. Saturday night watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It was great!

Yes, this. I also pre-log, and it really works well for me. Hubby often takes me to lunch a couple of days on the weekends. I know which restaurants we usually go to, and I can pre-plan those lunch meal calories and tighten up the breakfast and lunch calories around it. Then just stick to what I logged.

My Mom and I have the same or similar problem as you. Her husband is uber skinny (Type 1 diabetic) and has always struggled to maintain his weight (he can easily get too skinny) even though he is constantly snacking on sweets, pastries, cookies, etc. in addition to regular meals. My husband, though not super skinny, has a…

Oh, also wanted to say, I do a Keto/LCHF diet as well. And, it seems that some recipe sites are more popular than others on MFP. I have excellent luck finding keto recipes already in the database from "I breathe I'm hungry" sometimes listed with the recipe title and IBIH. Good luck.

When you want to enter a recipe, go to add recipe, and use the "from the web" option. You'll need to know the exact web address for the recipe. Once you enter it, double check and make sure it matched the correct ingredients. I find that it sometimes uses totally wrong items or wrong amounts, for example it always changes…

I am down 29 pounds since January 10. I am 1 pound away from my first mini goal, which will have me firmly entrenched in the 190s (Yay onederland!) Only 70 more to go after that!

I only just noticed this was directed at me. So, again, you make a lot of assumptions based on what? Never said I stumped you. Never implied victory in this debate. I also never said my diet is meat and dairy based. You, sir, are just like "clean eater", the original subject of this debate, in that you have made…

Well, thanks for basically calling me a liar. When I said "most", I was referring to the "whole, unprocessed" part of that statement. One can't be "mostly" vegan. It's an all or nothing type of word. Remember I also clarified that I did eat "on occasion" boca burger (plant based), tofu (plant based), and vegan cheese…

Not true. I have also never run into an as* . . . . at the gym. No sarcasm intended. Seriously. Never have.

I am also starting to agree with many earlier comments. But . . . you and I will definitely have to agree to disagree with what you apparently have concluded about me. Allow me to clarify a few things: Dog owner did NOT call my husband out for rude behavior, real or perceived. Husband was rude to no one. The dog owner…

True.

And, is it just me or is a certain someone totally ignoring my comments (especially the ones with relevant past experience) and just using my thread as a soap box?
