I have decided to resume my practice of standing while practicing my mandolin - I'd stopped practicing until recently, but have made a commitment to practice at least 15 minutes every day (it almost always ends up being much longer) and began standing again last night while practicing.

Denise, I'm in! Lee

I've definitely made progress - I'm more intentional about getting up, walking more, taking longer routes than necessary, etc. - but the past week or so I've fallen off a bit as I've been traveling quite a bit. I'm comitted to picking the pace back up a bit.

Good ideas!

Thanks for today's challenges. I'm greatly enjoying this. My "one thing" (standing while practicing my mandolin) has been a lot of fun. I'm finding that if I think about practicing I'm instantly reminded of my pledge to sit less, and vice versa. The reminder that I can do two of my goals in one span of time makes me smile…

Love the daily challenges! I've been doing them, but have neglected to post here each day. Completed the form today. Thanks for doing this!

Yes, but I find it hard to believe that anyone could 1,500 calories of celery in a day. The great thing about most vegetables and even fruit is that they are nutrient dense, not calorie dense. A 4" stalk of celery is 1 calorie. So you'd have to eat 1,500 4" stalks of celery to consume 1,500 calories. I'm guessing you'd be…

I lost 100 lbs in 2012, but put back on more than 60 lbs in the interim. I started over earlier this month and have done reasonably well (except for this weekend while traveling). I definitely would like to offer mutual support to anyone who is also trying to start over.

Fee; free to add me. I lost 100 lbs in 2012 but have put back on 46 of them. I'm trying to get jump-started again - to stay consistently on track, logging every day, get moving/ercising regularly, etc. I'd be very happy be MFP friends and help each other!

Well, I can't say that I'm "from" Canada, but I spent many summers on a lake just south of Sioux Lookout, ON, where my parents helped run a small, rustic fishing camp for about 15 summers (and I was back there about a month ago). More recently, I go canoeing in the Qeutico Provincial Park most summers. I love Canada!

Fantastic story! Very inspiring! I intend to use it to get back on track after slipping back after my own 100-pound loss.

No need to be scared or avoid peanut butter altogether. But weighing carefully can at least help you make choices with eyes wide open. You can still eat peanut butter, but if you're trying to stay within a calorie target, you might as well eat only the amount that fits within that target rather than pretending it does by…

Peanut butter is so calorie dense that using a measuring spoon and hoping you've packed it right likely will lead to you being substantially off on your calorie measurement. I've experimented with using a measuring scoop to get what I thought was "2 tablespoons" of PB and then weighing it and I always found out that I had…

Fantastic job! Thanks for the inspiration!

Unless you have skin calipers and know how to use them consistently, I recommend the Navy Body Fat formula. It's an algorithm based on comparing tens of thousands of water displacement ("dunks") tests with simple body measurements of the persons tested. It's generally considered the most accurate method apart from water…

Thanks, Taunto! My two daughters are from India and we love Indian dishes.

Add BBQ/ribs/fries and you've pretty much nailed it!

Thanks so much for sharing! I lost 100 lbs. in just under 8 months last year (as of early Jan. 2013), maintained it for a couple of months, but then packed on 25+ lbs. quickly. I'm back on track now and am losing again, but thanks for the inspiration to work harder at keeping it off when I get there (and beyond) again!

I LOVED my Fitbit Ultra last year - but eventually washed it accidentally. I had One and liked it, too, though I didn't like the new carrying pouch and lost it while wearing it within a few weeks. I complained after waiting a couple of months and Fitbit replaced it free of charge - you can't beat that kind of customer…

I got and gladly accepted your friend invite. You're very wise to seek accountability. I think it is very important. But I think accountability, though important, may be second to other things or at least is only one of several factors that are very important to success. One of the most important things to me was getting…

Good advice. Reasonable calorie deficit and getting some form of exercise is important. Eat 5 or 6 small meals a day and eat healthy foods. Chicken breasts, fish for proteins and fruits and vegetables. You won't be hungry at all.

Post of the month! You have it exactly right and you stated your point extremely well!

Sometimes being supportive means telling the truth. It does no one any good for anyone to have his or her "friends" reinforce the reasons why they keep failing to succeed. The fact is that numerous studies of how people have managed to lose a substantial amount of weight and keep it off have proven that people who refuse…

A fantastic story and a fantastic job! It literally brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for the inspiration you're success provides all of us!

You've done a phenomenal job! Congrats!

Thanks all for the very kind replies. It is much appreciated!

Have you tried shirataki noodles? They make a delicious, zero calorie stir fry base!

Awesome job! Congrats!

I do believe that sugar and processed flour are almost as bad as crack. I know this: I started early this summer cutting out all processed flour, chips, and sweets. I purposefully choose to eat foods with a low glycemic index and, when I eat foods with natural sugars like fruits (which I eat regularly), I always eat…

Part of me wants to focus on how unkind and unsupportive your husband is being. But the reality is that it may be as simple as this: he's not ready to focus on his own lifestyle and intentionally or not is willing to sabotage your efforts. Odds are good that you're on MFP because you haven't always lived a healthy…
