  • I only switched up my diet a week ago; but, for the first time in decades I didn't wake up thinking how hungry I was or if there was any bread in the kitchen for french toast.
  • weight gain sucks. So far logging on MFP and getting back to the basics taught in all those classes seams to work. Duh......
  • I am just starting low carb and learning so much about better food choices. Just curious, how long do the carb cravings last?
  • I love to hike. In fact, not being able to hike the trails that I wanted to motivated me to lose 100 lbs. I still need to lose another 50lbs, but it is certainly easier not carrying around the extra weight. “There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none…
  • people who ask me when I plan on eating again.
  • Have you seen a healthcare provider? Always best to rule out anything serious and take it from there.
  • Re-introduced myself to the Appalachian Trail today. The last time I spent any real time on the trail was nearly 20 years ago. The trail hasn't changed much. The last time I walked I didn't encounter a single person. Today I crossed at least 30 people just out for a walk to one of the lakes or thru hiking. It was great to…
  • So Jealous. Keep us up to date on your hike preparations.
  • Good luck on your surgery. I am so happy that I had the surgery.
  • Welcome. 23 pounds is great, just make sure you are getting all of you fluids.
  • Welcome. I was sleeved on 2/7/13 and looking for friends sleeved about the same time. Feel free to add me.
  • I am not sure if it is airing everywhere, but I've seen a couple of commercials for WalMart with professionals (engineers, lawyers etc) talking about why they shop in WalMart. It seems that even WalMart is aware of the reputation they have as being the shopping destination for low-income people. Interesting.
  • Welcome, Great loss so far.
  • Talk with your doctors. Hypothyroidism can be caused by a few different things so any advice you get now would just be guesses. But let us know how it turns out.
  • I ordered one for my birthday. I will let you know.
  • I'm about 3 months out and I eat 3 ounces of protein and about 1/4 quarter cup of veggies each meal. For protein I eat a lot of chicken, fish (beef and I aren't getting along well right now), fat free cottage cheese, fat free greek yogurt and eggs. I can't get in enough protein without at least one protein shake per day…
  • Saying a quick prayer for you tonight. Let us know how everything worked out for you.
  • I am almost 3 months out and it is a real problem for me. I've tried more fiber, stool softeners, more water, prune juice and so far no relief.
  • My husband used to have a similar attitude when I declined to eat what he was eating. He finally explained that he felt guilty eating foods that he knows that I really like in front of me. Then the guilty feelings ruined his enjoyment of the food too. He knew he shouldn't blame me for ruining his fun, but sometimes he just…
  • Hi everyone. I just found this post tonight and I am so happy to find a group of people in the same boat as I am. I spent the weekend with my parents for their 55th wedding anniversary which was terrific, and I stayed within my calorie goals which was amazing considering my sister and mother are both chefs and neither one…
  • Welcome. I am busy too so convenience is a huge factor in my food choices. Post surgery has added a whole new dimension to that. I haven't figured out how to cook a couple ounces of meat or a 1/4 cup of veggies so now I have a refrigerator full of left-overs. They are convenient to re-heat but since I don't want to waste…
  • under 200 trip to amusement park where I can ride every damn roller coaster! goal - a week in the mountains with my hubby, new hiking boots and the top of Mt. Washington.
  • Hi all, I am from Sullivan County NY right in the middle of the Catskills and just an hour from the AT. I've been hiking here for the last couple of years but because of my weight have been limited to short day hikes. Well now I've lost some weight and I can't wait till spring to start to check out some new boots and poles…
  • I am having those same fears now. I had my surger on 2/7 and I've lost some weight, but it doesn't seem like it is coming off very quickly. I am guessing that I had my expectations set way too high and the reality is that I am losing about 5lbs per week.
  • The count down begins. Congratulations
  • I am doing one meal of low sodium broth with unjury protein, 1 meal of low-sodium v8 juice with unjury protein powder and 1 meal of iced coffee with unjury protein powder. I couldn't do the prepared protein drinks because they are all too sweet. Good luck.
  • Welcome and congratulations on your surgery. I am hoping that everything went well for you. You will love MFP. It is a great place to chart your calories and exercise, but the the best part is the support from everyone who is also working on losing weight and getting fit. Friend me if you want and maybe we can support each…
  • Iced Coffee protein drink. 1 cup skim milk, 1/2 cup decaf coffee, 1 scoop of Unjury unflavored protein and lots of ice. I drink half when I wake up and the other have in the car on my way to work.
  • I chew a pack of gum every couple of days. If satisfies my need to munch on something and the strong flavors don't combine well with sweets. Like orange juice and tooth paste don't taste good together.
