Hello and welcome! I’m originally from RI but haven’t lived there in a long time. Still visit family and friends there.

Great advice above from @elisa123gal. For me, cravings reappear and intensify after a few days of eating too many carbs— about 50-60 g/day seems to be my limit. I’ve always been a carb junkie and am amazed how the cravings go away if I limit them. Keep track of what you’re eating and other craving triggers and you CAN get…

I LOVE potatoes (and pasta, rice, oatmeal, etc) but all of these cause my blood sugar to skyrocket— I’m T1DM. I can take extra insulin to cover it but it’s easier to just avoid them

I find it unhelpful to set aside special days to “cheat,” but i occasionally indulge in not-so-healthy foods if I feel like it and have the calories in my budget.

Congrats on making this decision! I wish I had done so at age 19- I would have avoided a lot of problems. It can be done— believe that you can change and establish new healthy habits that you can stick to and that make you happy. Good luck!!

I’m a male and get fluctuations on a week-to-week basis. I gained 0.4 lbs this week despite having essentially the same caloric intake and exercise that resulted in a 4 lb weigh loss last week and 0.6 loss the week before. The body had ways of its own but mlinci’s besutiful graph shows the real story!
