  • I set mine to NET 1,500 calories a day. I am set on "sedentary" and then log in all my exercise. Most days, I net below 1,500 due to my swimming, walking and 30d shred but occassionally (twice in 46 days) I have gone a bit over. I have not lost any weight, but my body looks quite different and I am wearing a size 16 shirt…
  • what is your physician telling you?
  • I haven't found any either but recipes are all over the internet. Cooking Light, WWs, or just google what you like.
  • So sorry you are frustrated. One thing that helped me was opening up my food diary to other MFP folks; they had some great insights and suggestions.
  • I want to add that - while keeping within healthful eating and calorie limits - I also am trying to listen to my body. I don't just eat back calories because I am "supposed to." If I am not hungry, I don't eat. This is a somewhat-controversial topic on these boards, but for me, part of the overeating comes from not…
  • I agree with this. I had logged for 40 days - always within my calorie range and also getting at least 30 minutes of exerise a day. Did not drop an ounce. Discovered that I was loading up on white bread, potatoes etc. I am now trying to make sure the vast majority of my calories come from fresh fruit, vegetables and some…
  • Thank you Mike. Blunt is fine; you were kind about it. Thanks everyone for all the concrete suggestions. I will keep going and integrate these ideas! Blessings all.:flowerforyou:
  • I am closing the diary now. In reviewing it myself, it actually was kind of shocking how little fruits and veggies I am getting, and how much "white" carbs I am eating. That is very helpful. Again, the helpful tone is wonderful. I beat up enough on myself as it is! Best!
  • Not sure I understand your point. I have set my activity level to "sedentary" on the MFP even though I do not sit around all day. I am up and down all day; raising kids, running a household, teaching etc. Then, when I go out and exercise, I log it. That way, I am burning more calories than I am logging. See?
  • Yes, I am set at sedentary, even though I am not. When I do "exercise" as opposed to walking arund, then I log it.
  • Thank you, crochetlvr! what percentage of carbs do you recommend?
  • My water intake is great. I don't always log it but drink water all day. I have cut out the diet soda too. Sodium? I never add salt and with limiting processed food really don't think that is an issue. Thanks.
  • Diary is now open. I appreciate the helpful tone of all your feedback. I do have a food scale but haven't used it yet. Duh. :frown:
  • Jaceeka: Thanks. That is very helpful advice.
  • I am 5 foot 7 so nearly a foot taller than you. But 1,500 seems reasonable. Also, I do not eat when i am not hungry. That just seems counterproductive - to eat back those exercise calories.
  • OK folks. Just opened up the food diary. I think the suggestion about the food scale is very sound. Generall, I have been overestimating what I eat, just to be on the safe side.
  • wyze: Thank you. Also, I don't know how to open up my food diary. How do I do that?
  • ironanimal: That is a commercial site. I see nothing on it about BMR etc. Am I mistaken? Thanks.
  • I have not consulted a doctor. I am thinking 40 days doing this, with not one off day - never going over calorie limits of 1,800 and now 1,500 and doing about an hour of walking and/or swimming a day - that perhaps something else is going on.
  • 1,800 calories. I am now netting 1,500 a day.
  • How do I open it up?
  • I am not sure I follow what you are saying. I set my calories to lose one pound a week, then two pounds a week. So I have been netting no more than 1,500 calories a day. Are you saying I should net much less than that? When I have, the program tells me I am undereating.
