  • I think lemons and limes are ok in low doses on the FODMAPS - adding those juices to your olive oil for a marinade seems like it would be a good option. Also, at http://www.todaysdietitian.com/newarchives/030612p36.shtml, they suggest onion flavor can be gained with chives or the green part of scallions. For garlic they…
  • I have CFS and Fibro, and do not tolerate gluten. I agree with mooglysmom that you need to try it religiously for quite a while to see if you benefit from it. For me it was only a few weeks and my gut issues evaporated. My Fibro did NOT go away, only the irritable bowel symptoms that often accompany it. I have been largely…
  • Every just try skipping the bread crumbs/oatmeal/binder? I've always been under the impression that breadcrumbs in meatballs and meatloaf were just used to stretch the meat - making a bigger batch without the extra cost of the meat. Of course it lightens it a bit, but I'm good with dense meatballs...
  • My favorite advice from a CFS/Fibro self-help guru: "When all else fails, go to bed."
  • I have CFS and Fibro, so totally relate to crashing after exercise. In fact, post-exertional malaise is the hallmark of these illnesses - i.e. uniquely different from any other illness. So, like DEVLe, I too have to work regular breaks into anything I do, not just exercise. One technical way of handling exercise is to…
  • My naturopathic doctor had me start with the most common allergens. I had already eliminated dairy, so she had me go without wheat/gluten, peanuts and soy. Peanuts and soy had no effect on me, and though wheat is difficult to eliminate, that was the culprit for me. You can go it alone by just picking two things that are…
  • I'd just like to share that I take low dose naltrexone - it takes a special compounding pharmacy to put together such a low dose, and it's off-label use so you need a sympathetic and knowledgeable doctor to prescribe it, but it made a world of difference for my fibro pain over night. It works better than tramadol did for…
  • I think I'm the first to report in from Whitewater. Go Warhawks. And I know where East Troy is, but not where Alpine Valley is (at least not specifically). I know, weird.
  • Find any tabouli recipe online (there are a ton) and use quinoa instead of bulgar wheat. I need to eat gluten free so use quinoa in any recipe that calls for bulgar or couscous. I think it's better than either!
