The only problem with this is that she has such a large deficit in her calories that it's virtually impossible to gain any lean muscle mass, even if she was logging exercise. You gotta eat calories to have the fuel to burn fat. If anything she'll be burning off the lean mass since it only takes about 600 calories to lose a…

If you're having trouble eating enough calories then maybe this site can help you out. http://nutritiondata.self.com/tools/nutrient-search

Sorry, but when a poster is 1 lb away from their goal weight a post like this has all the trappings of a classic trolling.

Junk science. Healthy diet and exercise does the trick. :flowerforyou:

yes! we've been having a problem with wrong way drivers ourselves.

Eat lots of protein from all sources. If you don't want your animal based ones then by all means send them my way and I'll protect you from it's deadly side affects. I don't like tuna though.

My teenage daughter had her boyfriend over and they were watching Netflix on our TV. She asked me what a good scary show was. Without missing a beat I said "16 and Pregnant scares the hell out of me."

I use psyllium almost every day. The trick with it (for me anyway) is to mix it in with either a glass of orange juice (makes it pulpy which I like) or to take a bottled water with a flavor packet and mix it in with there.

I have two home made rollers made from 4" pvc and an old thick yoga map and I have the black model of the Rumble Roller. I use them all several times a week. They have made my life so much more pleasant. The Rumble Roller is excellent at working out tight muscle groups and knotted areas.

you don't have your diary open so folks can only speculate. a fast drop for the first week or two isn't too out of the ordinary. the worrisome part is that nobody can see how many calories you're consuming and what types of food you are eating in order to comment as to whether or not you have anything to worry about or not.

After looking at your food and exercise diary entries, I'd suggest taking 3 days off to rest. On these rest days eat the suggested # of calories and try to avoid salty foods. I think you'll see a couple of lbs flush out once you give your muscles a chance to heal. By limiting your salt (say 1200-1500 mg) you'll have a…

Oh... And don't listen to anyone who says "it's because you're gaining muscle" because that's not what is happening. Edit: This does not include the muscle is holding water theory because that actually does happen. Props to the poster above me for getting their comment in before me. :p

No might about it. You need to open your diary up if you want advice. :)
-
Open your diary. Can't give good advice without seeing what you've been doing. :)

I side with the "it's fluid" folks. The only thing I might add is that if you are not keeping tabs on your sodium you could be carrying even more fluid than you think. People forget to watch those levels. I have to because of high blood pressure. When my son came home to visit we ate out several times. I kept my calories…

open your diary to public view so folks can see all the variables and provide informed feedback. :)

It takes 3500 calories to make a lb of fat. So unless you binged over your BMR by 3500 calories 5 times then it's just bloat. :) As I guy I don't get what you do, but when I have too much sodium over a couple days the same exact thing happens to me. It flushes later. Don't let it stress you out. Have a flower :flowerforyou:

Since your diary is not open to look at see if this link can help you. Here's a snippet from it. "Obese/overweight individuals tend to lose more body fat and retain more lean tissue (this explains why obese people can tolerate extremely low calorie diets better than already lean people, and why lean folks (close to their…

Why are you going the route of slimfast? Permanent weight loss comes from changing your eating habits and not from any sort of "quick fix" shake program. Chances are you'll drop a lot of weight but what happens when you are no longer relying on the shakes? I'd really recommend taking the slow and steady approach of…

I creeped your diary before I replied. You're doing great. They're insecure. Be teflon and let the words slide right off you. You're doing this for you, not them. It's easier for them to drag you into their way of life then for them to go through the effort of improving theirs. That being said, remember that they are…

Yes. Yes. And Yes. If you are eating 1000 and burning 850 to 1000 you're a great candidate for a stalled weight loss. This link helps explain why. It's a very good read and is a "sticky" topic here on the board. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/10589-for-those-confused-or-questioning-eating-your-exercise-calo Good…

Why would you worry about what the others are doing? What's in that link works that's why the site made it a sticky topic. :) Eat back your calories, or at least most of them :flowerforyou:

^^^This. Search for "Strength training (weight lifting, weight training)" in the cardio section. If HRM's (Heart Rate Monitor) are not very good at being accurate for weight training. If you go to a site like this one http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc you can get in the ballpark. I tend to go lower than what they…

Any idea how many calories per day you are eating using this method?
-
It all depends. Did you lose the weight in a healthy sustainable manner or did you cut calories so much that there was no choice but for the body to drop weight? If you did it safely and in accordance within generally accepted nutrition guidelines then it might make sense to continue the way you were. However, if you lost…

I eat back 85% to 90% of what I burn. I don't have hunger cravings and I'm losing body fat at a healthy rate while feeling stronger than I ever have. I end my day in a calorie deficit of around 500 calories. Before joining MFP I was eating around 1700-2000 per day and not eating back the calories on a very similar burn…
-
I totally disagree with this general approach. I get 1500 cals per day if I don't exercise. My total exercise burn for yesterday was 1400 calories. The day before that was 1349. Are you saying that I should only leave 100 or less calories for my body to use for normal functions? Sure you'll lose weight but hello health…

I don't think this is a case where you expected to lose (random number) 2 lbs of fat but you got 2 lbs of muscle so the scale didn't move. Here's one reference where it says that new lifters might put 1 lb on per month doing weights. I'm also assuming that you are eating at a deficit so muscle gains would be very…
