I hope you get it all straightened out! Being on the right dose and right medication really made a HUGE difference for me. It's actually so strange to think back and realize how long I just put up with it and thought that was how everyone felt every day. :)

Hahahahaha this is amazing.

The best thing you can do is just keep going, don't let it affect your tomorrow! The stress is more likely to affect you than that one meal :]

That sounds exactly right!!! I think he's cute how he is anyway, haha.
-
OH MY GOSH THAT'S TERRIBLE! I'm so sorry that happened to you. All of this, yes. It felt so condescending!

I like the steel cut oats! They keep their texture better. I like to use greek yogurt, 1/2 serving of protein powder, some chia seeds, almond milk in mine. Sometimes I'll do fresh figs, raisins, and pumpkin pie spice mixed in, and sometimes I'll do vanilla extract and raspberries. I've found monk fruit (you can get it in…

I'm in :) I'll send you a request. Nuclear engineer, 26, Seattle area. Goal is more to be/stay healthy, but certainly wouldn't mind losing about 30 lbs!

Don't get me wrong, I love mac and cheese!! And beer. Haha. I think he's really only aware of macros (mostly just protein); there's not a whole lot of (micro)nutrient dense foods that he'll eat, and he usually eats large portion sizes. Men have higher caloric needs, though, maybe I'm just having a hard time not seeing it…

I hope so!!!! That'd probably be best-case scenario. The pamphlet also seemed to think that fat and carbs are BOTH the devil, so that's concerning. I guess we should only eat chicken breast, and who needs those fat soluble vitamins anyway...

I really like tuna on little slices of cucumber for a snack! It's almost entirely protein. I can't eat just chicken for too long, I usually mix in fish and really lean ground beef to keep myself from getting bored. Also, cottage cheese is relatively high protein :)

I have the same question! Glad you posted this :) And sorry I don't have an answer, haha.

We have an online system, but I haven't seen an option for email my doctor. I'll check again! That would keep me from being anticonfrontational and chickening out, haha. Thanks :)

Hello! He introduced himself then we discussed my blood test results (for levels of thyroid hormone, to verify my medication is at the correct levels), which is the reason I go to the doctor so often. I also told him I'd caught whopping cough while I was away on travel for work (3 months) and was mostly recovered but…

Oh man that's perfect! I may memorize it, hah.

HealthyBody-- Ha! That's unfortunate but pretty funny to picture. I read an article a few weeks back about how doctors tend to attribute more problems than they should to weight (high or low), and that not being at a normal weight can reduce the quality of care you receive. When I initially went in to the doctor for…

When I started losing weight, I lost like 5 lbs the first two weeks, then ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for a month, then like 15 lbs in a week. There are a lot of factors that can affect your weight-- hydration, muscle mass, stress, hormones... Just keep going and have faith that it's working. You'll see the results eventually, the…

Neanbean-- I'll try it! Hopefully he was just having an off day. Thank you :)
-
jemhh-- Congratulations on the loss! That's great! I'd assume your doctor would be ecstatic! Good work :) I'm not overly concerned about the annotation of "obese" since the data he had supported that, but really really would have liked a conversation about it. If that were my true weight, I would have appreciated a…

Oh! I didn't realize maybe they'd bill for more. It's ridiculous that they did that. I don't think I'd be so upset if he'd mentioned it and given me a chance to discuss everything with him- it just feels so judgmental as-is.

I DEFINITELY have impatient days! For almost all of November, I ate really well and worked out (hard cardio and weights)... and actually GAINED weight! Then I traveled for work for about 3 weeks, keeping up with it as best as I could. When I came back, I'd lost 8 lbs! I was about ready to give up... really glad that I…

THANK YOU for this. Made my day!

I'm 22 :)

Thank you :) WOuld the budget be 1200 - my daily goal? And if I burn 300 calories on a work out, do I necessarily need to eat 300 more calories that day? Usually my work outs are at the end of a day (some of which were over-goal).

haha perfect! I'm definitely trying the costume line, Halloween is coming up!

Teenio7 and Deja_blu: Good advice! It's a way to still have a life and lose weight :) How do you guys deal with people making fun of you for drinking "like a girl"? ... maybe it's just me because I'm in a male-dominated field haha
-
THANK YOU!!! That was a lot of good information :)

On average, over a week or a month, I vary from just under to just over my "goal." Which is below both my bmr and tdee. Hence this post. I recognize I'm not perfect. Not even close :) And I am definitely defensive; picking my weakest moments and rubbing them in my face is the exact opposite of the encouragement I came here…

Thank you SO much for the advice! I really appreciate it.

bmr:about 1670, tdee, inputting "desk job": 1960. Which I'm fairly certain is what my mfp settings are based on. I'll definitely add some strength training and try to switch it up. Thank you!

Thank you!!! I'll go buy a scale this week. I definitely have issues guessing in ounces rather than portions of a lb or cup.
