  • I lost 50lbs in just under 6 months - but I started at 5'4" and 298lbs. I kept at or just under my. aloud target (when I started it was around 1,900 a day. I walked 30 mins at least once a week, and started doing little things like parking further away from the door at work, and stuff like that. I made better food choices,…
  • splurge on Victoria's secret. I've never really been able to shop there, and I'd love to get pretty underthings :) silly, huh?
  • LOL I've lost an air conditioner and an ostrich egg :)
  • I think that's awesome! and it can't "go bad" so you won't HAVE to eat it :) I live with people who don't watch what they eat so there's almost always tempting stuff around... I love the feeling of accomplishment when I don't eat ________. it's like a buzz :)
  • no, you did it right. :) when I started (298 ponds, sedentary job) I got 1900ish cals. as I've lost weight that has dropped to 1490 :) I think it calculates your goal calories by taking a deficit off your BMR - which will be different for everyone. 1200 is the lowest it'll give as a target, so if someone only has 20 lbs to…
  • welcome! your positive attitude will take you SO far on this journey :) and that's great to see around here! you've taken the hardest step by starting - and look at you!! you're doing amazing! I started at 298 in July, and in just over 6 months I've lost 58lbs - which is insane! I'm doing my first 5k in march, but I don't…
  • ugh - those days KILL me. I try to just suck it up and repeat to myself that tomorrow will be better... but sometimes I give in to the cravings, a little. I'll have 2-3 kisses, some peanut butter right off the spoon, ritz crackers, apples with honey... those are what I crave most on those days! :) basically, I don't freak…
  • 25lbs in 6 weeks is around 4lbs a week. personally, I think it's not healthy to lose weight that fast. I think 10-15lbs is more doable.
  • SW: 298 7/18/11 CW: 240 1/22/12 GW: 170 whenever I get there! When I get to 170 I'll decide what my ultimate goal will be. I can't think beyond that just yet :)
  • yeah, toss or hide the donuts! it'd definitely be easier to give advice (if that's what you're looking for) if we could see your diary. I'm at 1490 calories and I graze too - I do three meals, two snacks and a "treat" after dinner. I eat about every two to three hours. 7:30a, 10:00a, 12:30p, 2:30p, 5:30p, 8:30p. how are…
  • welcome! :)
  • my favorite for eating out is Applebee's :) I get the asiago peppercorn steak dinner with veggies and it's 380 cals. eating out usually throws my sodium way over, but it's not every day. a lot of restaurants have low calorie options (Applebee's has an "under 550" section), but I find it easiest to scope out the online…
  • welcome! I started 6 months ago and I've lost 58 pounds so far! I have another 100 to go (or thereabouts)... and I know I will! I'm 36 and a mom, too :) feel free to friend me if you'd like! I know I couldn't have done this without the support I've found here.
  • welcome! you've taken the first step, and that's the hardest one :) I've been at this for 6 months... and I couldn't have done it without the support of the "strangers" that have become friends here! please feel free to add me, if you'd like. best of luck on your journey :)
  • you can do this! it sounds like you're ready to make some big changes in your life - and this is a great place to start!
  • yay! you look amazing - 10 years younger! I can't wait till I'm waving to lane Bryant :)
  • how fun! I love it :) you look great!
  • welcome! :)

  • welcome! I've been at it for 6 months, and I see positive changes everywhere! it may seem silly, but deciding to change in July to eat better and lose weight has made making other changes easier. I've been a nail biter/picker my whole life... in october I decided to try to grow my nails out AGAIN (I've tried at least once…
  • I kinda fo that. I go through spurts where I'll eat oatmeal every day, then change it to eggs or whatever. I figure my body craves _____ for a reason. if I'm feeling salads I'll have them for lunch for as long as they sound good :)
  • popcorn dipped in franks hot sauce! :) and pepper jack cheese - yum! if you're brave, my friend got some habanero jack! too hot for me LOL
  • it took several months for me to lose that guilt... I was right there with you. even if I was under my calorie goal, I felt so guilty! my friend made a good point, she told me: you didn't get to 300lbs by thinking rationally about food. it's a process :) with this lifestyle change, you feelings about food will change (they…
  • I want to lose weight so I can ride roller coasters with my son :) and spend all day at a theme park with him, and get on the floor comfortably to play with him. getting healthy is a given... I want to ride roller coasters :)
  • you look awesome! what an inspiration :) thank you for sharing!
  • yep! at work my coworkers start diets every Monday, it seems. I decided to start with them one Monday in July... and here I am 6 months later (today!) and 56lbs down, while they're "starting Monday" again :)
  • personally, I wouldn't track it as exercise but you can change your settings where it asks about your activity level. I work a desk job, so I chose sedentary. for you, you could choose whichever best describes your workday/week. the more active you are, the more calories you will be allotted.
  • I agree, avoid the cheeses and crackers :( aim for chicken, fish, egg whites, turkey. right now, with your body not getting all of the nutrients, you want to make sure that every bite you eat is loaded with good stuff. like the previous poster said, there are SO many things you can do to chicken! eggs too :) a veggie egg…
  • I haven't lost it YET, but I'm well on my way! I'm 52 down with 100 to go :) for me, looking at 150lbs to lose was too much. it was impossible to even wrap my head around it. but I could lose 10 pounds, I knew that much. I could lose 10lbs 15 times! LOL definitely set small goals for yourself. I started in July 2011 at…
  • you can see by my "join date", I've started before too! I came back in July of this year and truly made the change! you can do this :) 2012 will ROCK, but there's still a few weeks of 2011 - no time like the present :)
  • I spoke to my doctor about it at a non-diet/weight related appt. he said he'd recommend a 1,200 calorie diet. at 300lbs, I think that would have done me in! I asked if he had a problem with me doing 1700 calories (what I was at, at the time) and walking 90 mins a week - he said it was a great start! he asked me to come…
