  • one year! in at 90lbs (I started at almost 300) - how do I do it? I eat less, I eat healthier, and I move more. it sounds easy, and I hated when people told me that was how to lose weight... but something clicked a year ago - and for me? that's it. I do little things every day - I park further at the store, use the…
  • I plan the next days meals the night before, so I know what my day will look like. I also have to pack my lunch/snacks for work, and it's easier to do that the night before. it works for me :) I plan out all but around 100 calories so I have some wiggle room :)
  • welcome! I log every day (usually the night before!) I started with about 140 to lose... so I'm more than halfway there! I'd love to have another friend who is dedicated to making a life change :)
  • has anyone tried these in plain Greek yogurt yet? :) I've seen them in the store... but I never thought to mix them with anything else :)
  • unless your family is going to change their eating habits along with you, this will be a hurdle for you. just because the food is there (and oh so tempting!), doesn't mean you have to eat it! you're making this lifestyle change to be a healthier YOU, and you can absolutely do that. keep that in mind as you pass up the…
  • I'm on my way! I've lost 75lbs and I have about 60-70 to go (I haven't decided on my goal weight yet, I just want to be comfortable) I'm a chicken, so surgery was never TRULY an option. I'd think about it and daydream, but I know I could never do it. I have two friends who had it, but never changed their eating habits and…
  • you look amazing! keep up the great work :)
  • I do :) I add lemon wedges or propel packets to my water. not all the time, but a lot of the time. it's helped me drink a lot more (I average 11-13 glasses a day). I used to use flavored water exclusively at first, but I've started weaning off to drink more plain water LOL
  • MFP will prompt you every 10 lbs (I think it's 10?) to adjust your settings :) for me, I adjust whenever it prompts me to, or I'll forget LOL
  • I'm sure the "pros" can offer more facts and stats, but for your height/weight, you burn about 2000 calories just sustaining life :) that's before you start doing anything like getting dressed, walking to your car, etc. I'm 5'4" and I started at 298, I was given 1900ish calories to start with! :) so while 2500 sounds a bit…
  • i add cinnamon then dip apple slices in it :) yum! I'm going to have to try cocoa powder though! I don't know why I hadn't thought if that LOL
  • 1200 isn't right for many people. is that the target MFP gave you? what goal do you have it set for (1lb a week? 1/2 pound a week?) your starting point can affect your calorie goal too. for example, I started at almost 300lvs and my calorie goal was around 1900. I'm at 230ish now and my goal is 1420 for now. if 1200 is the…
  • welcome! when I started in July I had over 100 to lose... you might be surprised how fast you see results :) looking at 150lbs to lose made me want to quit before I even got started - I can't lose 150 pounds!! that's CRAZY!!!! but..... I could lose 10 pounds. I could lose 10 pounds 15 times even... :) setting mini goals…
  • welcome! I'm a 36yo single mom :) I had 100+ to lose when I started (I started at 298), but I've made a huge dent! I'd love to share in your journey!
  • I have several old navy work out shirts that I LOVE! I bought two of the "compression" tanks, and I was pleasantly surprised that they fit so well. I got the 2x (in the plus size section) and they fit. I'm 5'4", 230 and a 42DD/DDD. I found cotton work out shorts at target in 1x and 2x and I've been wearing them since I…
  • what does MFP give you as a calorie goal? that's what I'd stick with :) or something very close to that. right now my calorie goal is 1420, and I've lost 1 to 1.5 l s a week steadily since 7/11 (when I started at around 1900 calories!) I don't understand why someone would sign up here then totally disregard the information…
  • I don't add cleaning as excersizing unless it's out of the ordinary. when I spend 3 hours scrubbing the tile floors or doing heavy duty "break a sweat" cleaning - heck yeah I'll add it. :) but that's not often. the regular cleaning (even if it takes 3 hours) doesn't count in my book. but to each their own :)
  • oooooh! that's be a huge challenge for me! I might have to try it. :) I did step on the scale in march though... but starting tomorrow, I'll do my best to give it up!
  • but hey - you're aware now! I tracked a few "average" days before I started, and like you, I was shocked to see how many calories (not to mention fat, sodium, etc) I ate every day!! you have a great tool here with MFP, and you've already seen what you need to change. that was a very brave first step - you're off to a great…
  • I prelog as much as possible. it makes me feel more in control... and I can see how my day looks (for sodium, fat, etc) and tweak it if I need to. I'm still learning though, I think. and right now this works for me :)
  • hang in there! you're really doing awesome :) its hard when others aren't as supportive as you need them to be - your husband may not understand how hard weightloss can be.
  • you're off to a great start :) the first step, deciding to really do it, is hard! :)
  • we have 2 miniature dachshund puppies (8 months old) - milo and Zoe. they are a pain in the butt, but iLife them to pieces. they play well with my son and are the friendliest dogs I've ever met. there's not a person, dog or cat they don't like!
  • I stopped biting my nails a few months ago and I had similar problems :( I started taking biotin (in the vitamin aisle) and using nailtiques nail protein (it's a clear "polish" and it won't bubble or peel easily). I've noticed a HUGE improvement in my nail length and strength. the skin around my nails is still in need of…
  • I started MFP at 298lbs on 7/18/11... I cannot WAIT to be under 200!!! I've got about 70 pounds to go till my temporary goal of 170... but I'd love to hop on your bandwagon! :)
  • it doesn't really matter - just use the same scale each weigh in :)
  • whichever "diet" that you can do for the rest of your life. :) for me, there's no way I could do no carbs! I'm with the PP - I changed my eating habits. I eat healthier foods, mostly, and less calories/fat. this is something I can do forever... and for me that's the best choice. why starve for 3 weeks to lose 10lbs? when…
  • I've heard it can boost your metabolism, but I have clue if there's any truth to it :) I've been drinking it in the morning (2 glasses) and any time I go out to eat. I haven't noticed a change in my weightloss since I started it a couple weeks ago. but it's better than plain water so it makes drink more :)
  • yep - it asks me every 10lbs if I want to recalculate. if I want to do it sooner I'll manually do it. but every 10lbs seems to work for me!
  • a lady at work brings egg muffins - she got the recipe from pinterest LOL in a muffin tin put in eggs whisked with a bit of milk, then add sgredded cheese, turkey sausage, broccoli... whatever you like... and bake them :) she brings one to work and zaps it for a few seconds. they look and smell delicious! I eat before…
