I purchased a digital food scale that measures ounces and grams, and has a tare function. Best tool I have ever used! I know that if I told anyone outside of MFP that I weigh and measure food, they would think I was nuts. But I love knowing that I'm not messing up all of my efforts by guesstimating my way out of a deficit.…

Hands and face. Not ideal, but I will take it!

Oh no... I knew they were overpriced, but didn't know about the ingredient thing. :grumble: Thanks for the info on where to look for better teas though!!

Oh yum... I will have to try the tea and seltzer thing :) I second the herbal teas. Tazo makes great flavors you can get at Target. If you're feeling fancy (and wealthy) you can get some amazing tasting teas at Teavana. Mostly, I drink flavored unsweetened seltzer, plain water, water with a splash of lemonade, or iced teas.

I wouldn't be able to eat 4 chips either. I don't bring them into the house because I find it's too stressful to have to limit my intake. I employ the control methods that others have already described, but it ends up being a bit of a white-knuckle experience, and I find myself waiting on pins and needles for them all to…

^^ This! Sorry you had to be put in that position. If you're happy and healthy, you can't let the crazies get you down.

From your story, I was expecting to see someone with a few lbs to go in your 'after' photos. But I was blown away!! You look amaaaaazing!! Anyone who calls you fat is an idiot. Best of luck on the rest of your journey and in maintaining your new lifestyle.

So inspired by your story! Maintaining is tougher than losing, so I'm glad you shared your experience with that. Also glad that you took pics. At 1 lb over last year's weight, you look stronger and in even better shape!

This kind of weight gain is usually temporary *if* you don't let it mess with your head and abandon your efforts. Assuming you were exercising and watching your food intake before, go back to doing what you were doing, and it should disappear fairly quickly. Chin up!

Thanks for sharing!! Congratulations on all you have accomplished :flowerforyou:

This looks like it would work - I'm going to try it myself :) Thanks!!

Love how you did the same clothing, same backdrop! Makes it so obvious where the changes are happening. Great work!!

Picking items from chain restaurant menus is a good idea. If I can't find something that resembles it at all, I write it in the 'notes' area of the food diary and use the quick add calorie feature to put in a wild guess.

Ditto. Plus, you may need to eat more. Your body is pretty smart about not letting you starve.

Sunwarrior makes a protein powder called Warrior Blend. Cranberry, Pea & Hemp with Coconut Oil MCTs. It is good in the blender with almond milk, ice and fruit. I found it at Whole Foods. Not high in iron though. Maybe you can take a supplement for that? (I can't because I feel nauseous 24 hrs a day if I take them). Load up…

For me, the more restrictive the eating plan - the bigger the resulting backlash. I'm going the moderation route this time.
