  • 3629. 21 more days or so until 10 years straight..
  • After 12 days getting out of isolation after finally testing negative. Yes. I've felt pretty good for 6 days but could not pass a test to prove it. Today I am going to workout at about 75-80% and see how I feel. Better news is I barely put on any weight the last 2 weeks despite not exercising for the most part.
  • I'm down 23 off of a high of 184 back in 2013. It's not 30 as you asked, but I never needed to lose that much since I'm a tick over 6' tall. But I am over 9 years and while I work out daily the last 2, I lost most of my weight while working in an office as a professional in the accounting and tax industry. I lost 18-20 in…
  • I have had several similar days recently. Accept it and make an effort not to repeat in the next day. Usually once a week it happens where I eat too much and don't work out. But like the others have said it takes a 3,500 gain to actually put on a pound, so while the scale may show a 2 or 3 pound gain, it will quickly…
  • Without knowing what you are doing at the gym or how long you are doing it for, I'd be careful about calorie #'s if you are using machines. Those are substantially higher than reality
  • Tampa
  • I didn't know Low Carb High Fat was a thing (had to look it up). I once successfully did a modified Atkins approach for about 8 months and lost weight but eventually had to give it up b/c back then I really craved pasta. That was back in 03/04 so a long time ago. Fast Forward to 2013 and I was told to sign up for MFP,…
  • Do you seriously think that paying $50 is going to make you live longer? Or that if you don't you will kick it by 50? That comment can't be serious
  • Thank you. I still use it every day but it is clear that they have no interest in making the free website functional.
  • I rarely listen to anything, but if I did it would just be my own ipod which has 15K songs. I could choose to listen to something or just shuffle. If a song comes up that I didn't like, I could just skip it. I personally think making playlists and stuff like that is a lot of work and don't see the point.
  • Why wouldn't you go? It is your day. Do what you want not what you think others might do.
  • That is false. Why would you enter it as 1 calorie. You burn that much walking across the floor. I am not sure exactly how many calories I burn, but given I burn 12-13 per minute on average running, I am pretty comfortable that my answer for weight training is somewhere between 4-8 per minute depending on the intensity.…
  • I'm setting my Goal again at 100 miles, w/ a stretch target of 110. I work a ton of extra hours between now and 4/15 so I just am never sure how this is going to go. February was tough but my 20th consecutive month hitting that minimum standard, and I've averaged about 115 per. A slow start with only a 4.8 mile Sunday and…
  • Hard to follow a poster with 225 miles in February. Very impressive. I'm glad to say I will never run that many miles again in a month (half of that is about average) but always pleased when others can do what I once could. It took until the last day of February but I was able to end up with 107 miles and 16 runs. Total…
  • What was the point? Given you have no indication where you are located I'm not sure why this message was necessary.
  • I am sure you can finish a marathon at 25 miles per week, but you aren't properly training if that is all you are doing. Obviously the marathon distance is hard, and you have to find the right balance between over-training and risking injury and not doing enough and having to run really slowly or doing a lot of walking to…
  • I didn't notice but that would be nice if it happened. I am constantly overriding my running calories burned on each entry. MFP said my 6.5 mi run this morning at ~7:30 pace burned 865 calories when my Polar shows 686. Needless to say the Polar is probably much more accurate so I always go with the lower #. But it would be…
  • @SLHysell . Thanks for sharing that story and glad you are okay. It did remind me of something similar, but not quite as harrowing as your experience. A few years back I was 2 minutes into my run one block over from my house and a large dog came at me hard from behind and while I tried to evade it he hit me solidly on the…
  • When it comes to exercise, I find MFP to be 15% too high with my running. That is pretty consistent in comparison to my Polar HRM. The 700 calories seems very high, but the 350 calories off the Garmin seems similarly low. If you had said 550 it would seem more reasonable. 8-9 calories per minute is how I arrived at that #.…
  • I appreciate the knee related posts on this thread and the focus on collateral muscles being a likely central cause. I have very tight calf muscles and some IT band issues so this is worth investigating. My LMT tells me this all the time but it has been so long since I've had any knee issues that I really had not given…
  • I ended up the month with 123 running miles, so met both my regular and stretch goals. I was planning on running a half in February but my right knee started acting up during a 14 miler and so this week I kept things shorter and now the left is actually much more of an issue than the right. I'm in excellent shape running…
  • I just enter it as a cardio activity under strength training and use the # from my HRM. I realize that the #'s are not that accurate and that you actually burn more calories after the fact but at least we get something in the totals.
  • Probably 4 days a week a combination of 3 cereals and banana. 3 days probably an energy bar and piece of fruit. Try to stay around 400 calories or less on average.
  • Last two full weeks have been 29 and 27 miles. Plus 17+ for 1/1-1/4 had me around mid 74 as of Sunday, plus 2 runs this week gets me around 87 through today. Two wonderful rest days coming up, and then planning on a 14 miler on Saturday 3 weeks in advance of the Fort Lauderdale A1A. Still not sure if I am going to run the…
  • Speak for yourself man. Just kidding.
  • Running shoes are a lot like music. What one person likes isn't going to mean much to you or I. When you find a pair of shoes that fits you and doesn't cause you pain then you stick with them. OTOH, after 28 years of running, I can tell you that every once in a while I will try something different (I rotate 3 pairs of…
  • I am glad I remembered this. Always good to have a goal. As always, target is 100 miles, but hoping to hit 115-120. Didn't run today, but have run 4 times for 24 miles this month. Tomorrow is another cold day but will have to get out there to stay on track. December was 118+, so ended the year strong with about 1,375…
  • thru 11/29, 17 runs, 116 miles. Goal was 100 with hope for 110+. Only disappointment is not getting enough other w/o's in at the gym. After tomorrow only 22 w/o's for the month so need to get back to 6 per week in total. But total miles for year are 1,255 which is the best I've done since 2008 and considering my age, a…
  • I just looked at health-calc.com and it suggests I could eat 3,000 calories a day exercising 5 hrs per week intensely. They are insane.
