201 miles YTD Reach eastern edge of the Marshes. Can see Weather Hills ahead. Land starts to rise. Land drier and very barren. A few birds.

Originally C25K was just something to try to help me lose weight and get a little more fit. So 5K was the goal. After doing the program...and believe me...it was a struggle, I ran my first 5K and made it in something like 29:18 which was cool. So I kept running 3 days a week for 2-3 miles a day for a couple of months. One…

As a graduate of C25K, i can honestly say I know how you feel. But like other folks have said here, it's really a mental game in week 5. You can do it and I bet you can. I felt like i was dying on week 5 but I pushed through it. Guess what. that was only 4 months ago. This past weekend I ran 10 miles straight. That was an…

If you are running the 5k, try not to change up anything drastically leading up to it. eat what you normally eat, where the same shoes you normally do. Make sure you stick to your pace if you have been training. It's easy to get excited and start off too fast and then burn out towards the end. And most importantly, be…

^^^This. Drink maybe 8 oz. of water about a half hour before you run. Unless it is scorching hot out, hydration isn't going to be an issue for 5k (or 30 minute).

By the time I got around to planning a 10k, I was already running 6+ miles once a week so I have decided to skip over it and move on to training for a half marathon. So far so good. Sunday I will go out for a 10 mile long run which will be my longest to date.

Cotton socks are bad for running. Get some sort of sport socks. Especially ones that wick sweat.
-
For sure. I ran my first 5K at the beginning of December. Now I am training for my first half marathon on April 7. Not sure how long til I will be in full marathon planning but perhaps end of year or next year.

Ran 9 miles this morning. longest run yet! 174 miles YTD so far. Ground becomes damp. Entering western edge of Midgewater Marshes.

C25K is a great program. If you have a smartphone, download one of the free apps and follow the training regimen. Worked well for me. First 5K was sub 30:00 and the 2nd was sub 25:00. As long as you can walk, it will work.

Ran my 2nd 5K on Saturday and shaved 4.5 minutes off my first one. Came in at 24:46. Head east. Ground dropping slowly. Quiet and peaceful.

I'm thinking of going with the Glycerins. Looking for some more cushioning than my Saucony ProGrid guide 5 shoes. Any other recommendations for cushy shoes? Need to give my old bones a break.

I started C25K in September 2012 so 4-5 months now. I would never have imagined I could have done this when I started.

Hello all. Did my longest non-walking run to date yesterday. 8 miles straight. Sometime i impress myself  Reach dike and hedge. Former boundary of Cardolan, part of the North Kingdom of Arnor.

Not quite up to marathon running yet but the Capitola half marathon on the same day looks like fun. Always nice to have an excuse to go to Santa Cruz with the wife and dogs.

I used weight watchers and it definitely works well and you will lose weight. But there are subtle differences with MFP and I tend to like MFP better myself having tried both. I feel that tracking points is fairly easy, however, you do have to learn to convert the macros of a given food to points and that can be…

Oh crap! You are supposed to feed em? Doh!

13.71 miles done Feb MTD.

Both calculators match what my HRM gives me for calories burned. In my case it seems correct.

89.46 miles for Jan 2013 - Cross series of deep folds running SE. Keep turning east. Lose direction.

Trying to work up to a half-marathon now. I am kind of between 5K and 10k right now. Could probably do a 10K if I put my mind to it. There is the Santa Rosa Marathon/Half-Marathon in August 2013 that I was thinking of signing up for. Once I can run 10 miles, then I will sign up. Feel free to add me.

Bottle of Guinness...125 Calories...BOOM! Bob's your Uncle!

That TDEE train is never late. Do what works for you and help folks that need advice. Ranting to people THAT THEY ARE DOING IT WRONG is no way to go about it. Better to just not say anything.

This...the old plan came out to 50, under points plus, it is now 40. Rough estimate of course but generally speaking, 40 would suffice if you don't have the exact calorie count of a meal or food item.

YTD 66.84 Miles Farmer Maggots lane meets the Causeway to Buckleberry Ferry. Ride in wagon.

Got my *kitten* pierced. Hey, it was the early 90's, everyone was doing it.

I like running to techno, but I have some good classic rock in there as well. Ram Jam's "Black Betty" is a great tune to run to. Also some CCR.
-
HRM would be more accurate. Mine read just over 500 cals for 33 min at about the same heart rate as you. But I weight 50 lbs more. You can always go conservative and go with the lower number though.

Walkmeter or Endomondo work really well.

If you are newer to running, then you would want to stay at 3-4 days a week. Allow a day recovery in between runs. I may be reading you wrong, but you seem to take exception to the C210k training. Training is about running a bit longer each time. Since you are training, you will be able to make that long run all of the…
