  • Yep - just got the E-mail through. I work for one of the sponsors and they had a few 'VIP' (whatever that means) places up for grabs for employees across all the Great Run events. Put my name in for the Great North and got pulled out in the draw! Bet i won't be as happy when I'm half way through though.... this will be my…
  • Isn't the whole point about this about getting what you pay for though? Regardless of whether or not you care about eating horse, the point is that instead of the beef you paid for, you're actually getting cheaper horsemeat to pad it out. Sure' I'll try a horse steak but if this is supposedly a cheaper meat I expect it to…
  • Yep. The Wife's are definitely firmer and perkier when she looses weight and does a bit of exercise. Mine aren't as saggy as they were either... ;)
  • Good list! You might want to add PCOS too. I've lost count of how many threads I've read half way through before I've realised it probably doesn't apply to me... and on each one there's usually a 'What does PCOS stand for' question in there somewhere.
  • Diet coke still has caffine in it though right? When I started this 'not putting any more weight on' thing (was working away & eating out on expenses. It'd be rude not to take advantage...) I did the Des. Driver thing for a while drinking d.c. all night and was still wired at 5AM...
  • Definitely ill. I read that as "started moderate gaming" first time round.. Never heard of the world of warcraft diet..... It appears I'm a danger to myself and others at the moment.
  • I must be ill. my mind went down the smokeless fuels route first. Better go for a lie down.
  • But you're all so skinny. There'll be nothing left of you...
  • Absolutely. A good hurl can really work those abs. Also, don't forget to weigh the 'returns'. ;) If you're feeling rough I hope that we at least managed to raise a giggle to make you feel slightly better...
  • Hang on - take off sedentary? I always assumed these exercise trackers / HRM.s etc tracked the additional calories burned by the exertion of the exercise rather than the total for that time period.
  • Well, if I remember from my chemistry days Salt is Sodium Chloride (NaCl). I always assumed Soduim and Salt were two different ways of referring to the same thing. Looks like we're both wandering down that wrong garden path together. Saying that, I don't track either. I get confused where salt is concerned. These days it…
  • Yeah, I second that. When I run to work, lunch is generally eaten by 10AM... A few bits of fruit see me happily through to 5PM then about 10 mins after I get home I'm really hungry again...
  • Yeah, your Wii is talking about your body test (Weight etc), not the actual exercise. Personally, I do exercise at the same time every day. But that's because my main exercise consists of the 5k run to work (and another one back home) and my boss would probably be a bit narked if I varied it....
  • Err, yeah. so what you're saying there is muscle weighs more than fat. It's more dense. It has a higher mass to volume ratio. it is heavier. It weighs more. Yes, I agree that a pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat. Strangely, it also weighs the same as a pound of bricks, a pound of feathers, a pound of gold…
  • Nah. Telling your friends / colleagues just makes you a gossip. What you might want to do is confidentially ask their advice about what to do. For proper advice of course they'll need to know who, what and where. All confidentially of course. Obviously for a balanced view you should canvass as much advice as possible...
  • There's a couple more you missed (by definition at least) Table water Essentially, this is tap water in a bottle. Completely unregulated. I was aware of a natural mineral water company that also supplied 'table' water to some of it's supermarket brand customers - and just filled the bottles with the same natural mineral…
  • At a guess, that's per 100g as prepared (i.e. including the weight of the water you added!) so although you only have 70g in the packet I'm guessing once cooked there's way over 100g in total on your plate.
  • I have the same problem, Little 'un is in bed, and we're just watching telly and chilling. I start getting peckish too about 9:30ish. Solution for me? go to bed instead! I'm no more or less hungry in the morning for the late night snack. Plus - the kid'll be up at 6:30 AM anyway...
  • We fancied a change so we're going to a rather nice local pub / restaurant for Christmas dinner this year. At £80 per head you'll be damn sure I'm eating every last bite along with any leftovers from ours or the surrounding tables...
  • I was in Menorca, on a very quiet resort with the missus (Well, the girlfriend at the time). First I heard was 2 days later when we were on a trip. The rep made an announcement on the bus that they'd managed to negotiate for everyone to take one piece of hand luggage each on the flight home. We thought that was a bit of a…
  • Once a week at pretty much the same time. Saturday morning, after the loo and before breakfast. Wearing nothing (For consistency, honest!). Saves getting hung up on daily fluctuations. I run to work and back most weekdays and eat a lot more on those days to compensate so probably would weigh heaver. Also, daily weighing?…
  • Cheating is Baaad..... However that depends on your definition of cheating. To me, cheating is eating a shedload, not logging it then wondering why you didn't loose, or even worse gained that week. Now what you're talking about here to me seems like a treat. You have something really nice as a treat, and you log it.…
  • Yeah - I have 4 activities set up as I track walks / runs with Runkeeper. (Need a HRM but want one that's compatible with the phone - but might get the new iPhone when it appears...) So, I have Run To Work, Run Home, Run (Runkeeper logged) and Walk (Runkeeper logged). Then I just pick the relevant one and enter the time…
  • Well done! My wedding ring flew off my finger and across the room when getting changed this morning. Does that count?!
