    I applied but didn't get a place! Did it last year and really wanted to do it this year but wasn't meant to be :-(

    I applied and didn't get a place, I'm absolutely gutted. Waiting to hear if I've got a charity place but I'm not holding my breath.

    Yep - just got the E-mail through.

    I work for one of the sponsors and they had a few 'VIP' (whatever that means) places up for grabs for employees across all the Great Run events. Put my name in for the Great North and got pulled out in the draw! Bet i won't be as happy when I'm half way through though....

    this will be my first ever running 'event' . I've been running on my own for the last couple of years and can do the distance, so the challange for me is to do it in a reasonable time. And to beat the other 9 people from work that got places... ;)
