  • I'm not worried over fluctuation, I was merely remarking and wondering if anyone else had this kind of experience. I'm consistently down, I just noticed that it seems the be in 2lb intervals, rather than .5lb here, 1lb there. I know weight fluctuates daily due to many factors.
  • You were famished because you worked out! Tip: Moving your body burns energy. Calories are energy. After you class your body felt it needed more energy to continue. Sure, it might have broken down Fat or Muscle internally to get that energy, but that would have taken more energy. You shouldn't feel so guilty about feeling…
  • Just a quick lesson: A Calorie is a unit of energy. Your body uses energy for everything, even when you sleep. It's a matter of how much energy you burn. When moving, you are using more muscles, breathing more, etc. This will burn more energy than simply sitting in a chair or lying in bed. The extra energy though is a…
  • Absolutely. Weight loss is all about calorie deficits and you can make that up any way you want. It's easier with exercise + diet, but as you've mentioned it's not always possible.
  • I don't know about the science of this phrase, but I can tell you in my personal experience, it is a lot easier to not eat 300 calories than it is to work it off. Sure the exercise has health benefits, but when you look at food, aside from the taste, you should look at it as energy.
  • The burning is (mostly) through walking. I do about 30 minutes of cardio a day, which burned 300 calories, but the rest is just Fitbit tracking my steps, I do about 3.5 miles of walking in my day.
  • I've noticed :) Obviously aside from the health benefits, why should I work out then? Just to allow me to eat more per day?
  • Are you not logging breakfast or are you skipping it? Looking back in your log I noticed that you seem to eat larger meals late in the day, which is not recommended, but rather you should eat larger meals in the early day. I also noticed you were eating large meals, try cutting down on meal size and snacking through out…
  • To "Get Fit" and "Get in shape" a gym helps, but for weight loss, no one needs a gym, or even needs to exercise. It helps, but I have a saying I tell people "It's easier to not eat 200 calories than it is to exercise 200 calories". Again, exercise does have the benefit of helping your body, but in terms of weight loss,…
  • I can only speak from personal experience, but I was looking at your diary and I noticed you had a lot of carbs in there. It's not over the limit they set for you, and I don't want to push the low-carb diet as the end-all-be-all diet, but have you tried it? I believe in the calorie-in/calorie-out notion of weight loss, but…
  • Yes, water retention can cause you to fluctuate. By how much? Every body is different and will react differently. I see a lot of people mentioning salt, but I've noticed that in my diet which is low in carbs and higher in fat and protein, with a high percent of sodium as well, that my first week was a loss of about 7lb…
  • Take measurements. As you mentioned, if you are working out, depending on the workout type, you may end up replacing some fat with muscle in terms of overall net weight. People always say "Muscle weighs more than fat" but it's really that Muscle is more dense than fat. So take measurements, they will help you to see if you…
  • That's what I was doing because IMO the Fitbit food database was kind of weak.
  • Thank you. I was just wondering if the effect of the vitamins are actually as they say, since they are usually never FDA backed, I wanted to make sure that it was something that would be absorbed and actually provide nutrients to my body vs just something that will by digested and never absorbed.
