Different diet types work for different people. Low calories and counting calories didn't work for me either, I seemed to lose like 5 pounds and then I would stall. Try going on Mark's Daily Apple or Eating Academy. They are both great sources for low carb. I've been reading both for quite a while and feel much better when I keep my carbs below 50 g per day.
