  • Wow, I'm impressed with some of the calories burned at these workouts. Me, I'm a newbie to whole consistent exercise thing. Just showing up at the gym is a HUGE accomplishment for me. I go 5 times a week, focus just on cardio right now and that's always the treadmill. I do 30-35 minutes and burn from 125-150. Not much…

  • Not trying to be mean here, but if you don't want to put any work into this and get your hand's dirty so to speak, it's just not going to work. You have to get your mind right if you are ever going to be successful. You said your diary is a mess, then clean it up, that is IF YOU WANT IT ENOUGH. Good luck to you.
  • Sounds like the perfect time to exercise some self control. We live in a word full of doughnuts, cakes and pies and that's not going to change, WE have to change.
  • Girl, you better turn that frown upside down! :) You are doing a wonderful job, keep it up. There will be weeks you might not lose at all. It all evens out! This is a journey, not a race.
  • I would get the meatloaf without the potatoes, and add the slaw and stewed tomatoes, ask for a to go plate from the get go, half it before eating and enjoy yourself!!
  • Way back when I was addicted to Mountain Dew and Coke, then about 10 years ago I switched to Diet Mountain Dew and WOW, was more addicted to that than I ever was to regular soda. I did find that I was drinking way too much of it, sometimes a two litter a day and it was hindering me from drinking the water I HAVE to drink.…
  • Thanks to everyone for all your opinions!!
  • Good for you for returning. It happens to everyone, but what's important is that you are here now! Start logging EVERYTHING, and before you know it you will be a couple of weeks in and going strong. Getting started is the hardest part for me, and you have done it. Congratulations!
  • you can eat a LOT more healthy food for the same amount of calories you could eat McDonalds for. Me, I hate to be hungry and I think eating my 1230 allowed calories in McDonalds food would keep me craving more and very hungry.
  • This exactly! I do anywhere from 30 to 35 minutes of cardio 5 to 6 days a week and it kicks my butt. As soon as my timer reaches 30 I always want to stop!
  • Wow! You look fantastic!!!
  • I'm at a 1230 calorie goal, and I exercise 5 to 6 times a week. I really appreciate the extra calories I'm awarded for exercising but most of the time I only eat back about 1/3 of what I burn. Believe me 1230 adds up quickly!! I have also found that the more I exercise, the more hungry I am.
  • I love sweet potatoes and I have started to eat them often. Here are a few ways I prepare them. . . -washed and poked a couple of times and put in micro - "Hasselback" I wash them and cut almost all the ways through width wise, stopping just short of the skin and put in oven - I use them in stir frys, I get my wok very hot…
  • Try PB2, only 45 calories per 2 Tbsp, it's fantastic!
  • how inspiring, thanks for sharing! Congratulations!!:flowerforyou:
  • I bring left overs a lot, at night when I'm fixing my dinner plate I will measure out my lunch for the next day also. I also like to bring a sandwich on the 100 calorie sandwich thins breads along with low sodium ham or turkey and a laughing cow wedge and some kind of veggie on the salad, either a small salad or cucumber…
  • I log everything that I eat, except for spices and sweet & low. Some days when I look at my food log for that day it looks a mile long just because I do log EVERYTHING!
  • I gave up sugary treats all together. I stopped drinking crazy amounts of Diet Mt. Dew, I think the artificial sweetener in it was making me crave sweets, and I drink lots more water now in place of it. I cut out all fast food, except for Friday dinners where I will allow myself to have a dinner of my choice (this keeps me…
  • I used to be so obsessed with weighing myself, to the point where I weighed numerous times a day. I ended up throwing my scale away and now only weigh myself once a week. That even sometimes bothers me when I don't see a drop that I expect. Last week I lost 3 lbs, I started going to the gym, doing ONLY cardio and this week…
  • I work out after work Tues, Wed & Thurs. I change into my workout clothes at work and stop by the gym on my way home, if I go home first I may not make it back out to the gym. On Sat. & Sun. I go to the gym when they open at 8 so I wont get bogged down at home cleaning house, running errands, etc. I've been toying with the…
  • UGH, I have the same problem at my job, and the holidays, forget it, there is always some sinful, yummy goodness in the employee lounge. For me, I just keep other snacks available, fruit, nuts and yogurt. Anytime there is a birthday we all gather around over birthday cake and sing happy birthday. While people eat cake, I…
  • I agree that you don't have to join a gym to lose weight, it's all about the calories in and out. All I know is what works for me, and it is the gym for sure, here are MY reasons. . . - recently had skin cancer and had surgery, I'm scared to death of the sun now, and I live in Florida, so couldn't work out outside until…
  • I just started going to the gym and working out. When you add exercise to your diary it adds calories you can eat. My plan is not to eat back all of those calories and be able to have a Friday dinner once a week where I don't go crazy but do eat out with things I don't eat during the week. Friday nights have always been a…

  • I would like people to start noticing I'm losing weight. I lost 70 lbs a couple of years ago, low carbing, but put 50 back on, so I'm a little humiliated at work. People were constantly commenting on how much I had lost and to have put it back on was horrible.
  • ok, finally did it, it doesn't seem like much, but wow, I'm so out of shape. I did Kendra Kemerly's 1 mile walk on Comcast on demand. It was only 15 mins. long though, but hey it's a start!
