  • I work out six days a week. I take Sundays off (although sometimes I'll go for a short jog or something light). I'd probably still be alright if I worked out a bit less, but I absolutely won't go below four days a week unless there are extenuating circumstances. It all depends on your goals and the amount of time you can…
  • Knowing I can out-run the zombies when that dreaded zombie apocalypse finally arrives... :)
  • That depends on a lot of different factors. For women a 'good' mile time is decidedly slower than what it would be for men. I run a comfortable mile at roughly 9-9:30 minutes. Because I'm both naturally slow and have shoddy knees, my all-out mile comes out to 8 minutes on a good day. I'm the slowest girl in my unit by…
  • I've lost the majority of mine in my arms/chest/general upper torso. That was nice at first, and I guess I really shouldn't complain, but I've barely lost anything in my hips/thighs (where it really needs to go) and I'm starting to look a tad bit out of proportion.
  • I eat most of mine back. Depending on how much I burned, I typically go 100-200 calories under just in case I overestimated a burn amount somewhere.

  • I exercise Monday-Saturday, so I only take Sundays off from the shred. I think I've gotten decent results thus far, but I've still got 20 days to go!
  • Don't let your size stop you if you want to start jogging. If the first day of C25K proves to be too much for you, start out with just plain walking or google a pre-C25K program. (They exist!) If you want to ease in to it, you could make each day a week - for example, do W1D1 for a week, W1D2 for the next week, etc. As a…
  • I have a roll in the same place. Mine is small enough to where it doesn't really bother me while jogging, but I COMPLETELY understand where you're coming from. I'd recommend some sort of compression shorts - they're like a bra for your lower half. I hear they work fantastically.
  • They'll naturally shrink with weight loss. If you want to speed it up, try doing chest exercises. Push ups have worked for me, and although I haven't yet tried heavy lifting, I hear that works decently as well. I wouldn't resort to breast reduction surgery until you're at your goal weight and you still find them too big…
  • I finished level 1 today :) I've been documenting my entire 30 Day Shred journey in my blog, feel free to check it out and/or add me if you'd like!

  • Height : 5'7" Weight: 144 lbs Bust: 35" Waist: 28.5" Hips: 40.5" The inches are just falling off everywhere else, but my hips seem to enjoy holding on to them... boo.
  • Wall push ups are a great way to build up strength for regular push ups, but they're no where near as intense as regular push ups. I would recommend regular push ups if you're capable.
  • I'm exercising my *kitten* off (quite literally) and I'm still in the one pound a week club. It's frustrating, especially when you hear of all these people losing three a week, but it's better than nothing. Hey, those lonely pounds will add up soon :)
  • I'd never run a day in my life prior to starting C25K, and it worked out great for me. As far as size goes, I was only slightly overweight - 165 at 5'7" - but I had terrible knees so I most likely had a tougher time with it than the average person my size. I would say give it a go! If it's too much, google a pre-C25K…
  • I think any kind of fast food place can basically be as healthy as you make it. It's a lot easier to get something healthy at Subway, but that doesn't mean everything you get there will be healthy.
  • I don't log anything that I didn't do for the sole purpose of exercise, even if it might have burned a significant amount of calories. I just consider it a bonus.

  • I second the workout DVD motion. I'm partial to Jillian Michaels. The DVDs are relatively cheap and you don't need any kind of equipment but hand weights - and, if you don't want to spend the money on those, you can use soup cans or something similar. All her workouts are great and show modified versions of the moves for…
  • Not really, but that's probably because I hardly ever hear them called that. The military strictly refers to them as 'knee push ups', and guys end up doing them just as much as girls do when we're having a push up exhaustion session during PT.
  • It depends on the activity. If I'm running, I definitely prefer to go alone - I like to slip in to my own little world, have control over my pace, distance, etc. I don't want to be expected to talk and have to compromise to another person's level of fitness, whether it's above or below mine. For strength training, it…
  • I definitely have those days, and today is one of them. It's probably got a lot to do with my time of the month, but I feel gross, bloated, and really down and out about my progress. You just have to fight through it because you won't always feel like this and if you're diligent with your exercise and diet, you WILL get to…
  • The quote "don't give up what you want most for what you want now" really helps me get through some of the harder days. Although I'm not really that heavy (145 lbs at 5'7", but I've got a bad fat/muscle ratio and carry the weight poorly) and I'm in decent shape, I'm really tired of the mediocrity. I want to be ridiculously…
  • 19 year old, checking in. :)
  • C25K was a lifesaver for me. I went from never running a day in my life to going miles on end with ease. I can run 6 miles now without feeling anywhere near as tired as I did doing 3 minutes when I was starting out on it. I can't recommend this program enough to people interested in running!
  • I have the same problem. I've always been told that walking around and light exercise helps cramps, but it really only makes mine worse. The only thing I can really do feel even close to normal is take medicine and lay down... frustrating, since I schedule out my workouts for months ahead and I hate to get off schedule.
  • I've definitely been considering the pill. The weight gain factor is definitely one of my concerns, and I'm squeamish about taking routine medication that alters my body in that kind of manner. (Ironic, considering all the pain medicine I take during my period.) The pain gets so bad that I'm definitely looking in to it,…
  • I'd buy all the Jillian Michaels DVDs, other DVDs like P90X and Insanity (they're on the pricier side), more workout shorts and sports bras, a new pair of running shoes, a really good heart rate monitor, a pull up bar, and weights of various sizes. If I had the room I'd also definitely go for large equipment like a…
