  • I go for Thursdays Friday to Sunday is where I'll probably have bigger meals; weighing in on Monday isn't a good way to start the week. By Thursday I've been living for a few days in a row on well balanced meals and cycling to work! But if I ever get an urge to weigh in more often, I try to leave it 48 hours at least!
  • Someone said I must have lost a "like a million stone" recently - he's no longer in my good books! PS well done :D
  • If we're pigeon-holing members, I'll be over here with the non-sleezy, not here to chat anyone up, married guys from the UK corner. Hey!
  • Rely on the water stations, but maybe take something you can chew to prevent your mouth from drying up between the stations. Make sure you're well hydrated throughout the days leading up to the run.

Lean muscle conducts better than fat, but sweat in the skin can alter the reading. So make sure you're well rested when you take the reading to get the…
  • We use Omron Body Fat Monitors at work to train nurses how to measure body composition. They're good, although at first it does feel like you're putting your details into a machine so it can insult you to your face. Like scales, it's best not to pick it up too frequently; in the short term you can convince yourself it's…
  • At events like this you go to the start line and there are usually people holding signs up for certain expected finish times; you need to stand by the sign that reflects what you manage in practice.. You'll then end up running with people of a similar ability, but you'll probably find yourself running faster than usual…
  • Really good progress, well done!
  • If keeping the calories low isn't helping, then your body simply isn't burning them as fast as you need it to. is your exercise daily? Find something you can do daily that is additional to anything you'd normally do; break a sweat every day. If you can't do it daily, you're doing too much, but try to work your way up to…

  • As I said in my thing it's not my idea.. although given that it's a concept used quite widely, I don't think it could belong to the team Manchester Met who used it! They simply used it to win an NUS run competition and got nowt more than a bit of recognition for using something clever.
