I don't want to explain my situation but I have family supporting me right now. Something happened in the past week, and now I won't. I'm not going to live on the streets if that's what you're asking, and I'm not going to need charity resources or welfare. I wouldn't be posting here if that were the case. Things are just…

I wasn't aware of that, I'm pretty sure there was tax on a lot of food items I've bought before. Either way I'll manage just fine. I'll keep out of using charity resources if I can... Pretty sure there's plenty who need it more than I do.

I don't know what difference it would make if I buy (stockpile) food now, compared to buying it later. It would just be a matter of when I spend that money. I've always bought food that's on sale, and do my shopping at Superstore where food is cheapest. Instant noodles are definitely bad for you, but for $0.25 a pack it…

It definitely came out more serious than I meant it to be, but I am going to have to keep my food costs to around $50-$55 per month soon. All I asked for were ideas, not your pity or sympathy, nor do I want those things from anyone

I was raised by one parent to be absolutely frugal (mom) and the other to spend as if you were going to die the next day (dad). I ended up somewhere in the middle; saved enough money as a teen to pay off my nursing degree in full, but not a whole lot else beyond that

I'm surviving fine at the moment, it's just a situation I could be facing in six months.

My government is good to us too, but the problem is that there's a massive homeless population in my city. I'm from Canada, which you probably know is very bitterly cold in the winter- EXCEPT for my particular hometown. Thus the homeless of my country migrate here and our homeless shelters and food banks get overwhelmed.…

Without going into detail, I'm very jaded towards people with a sense of entitlement (i.e. having the nerve to ask for someone else's hard-earned money and not even feel ashamed about it). I've been working part-time for 5ish years so I have saved some money, but it's to pay for my tuition. I also visited my grocery store…

I haven't read most of the posts yet but to answer this question, yes I'm serious. My older brother can support me a little but he can barely support himself; I can't do that to him. As for Internet, I leech off my brother's internet. Phone/cable/whatever else will all be cancelled. Just really stressed so I'll finish…

I'm heading to bed so I'll reply in the morning (thanks for the suggestions everyone) but the items on my list are basically the very, very cheapest I can get them in my area. This also sounds sad but I want the sack of sugar because it's a cheap source of calories. I can mix it with water and drink that, when push comes…

Unfortunately I don't have a choice :ohwell: When you're worried about making ends meet, health goes on the backburner. I don't think my list is that bad nutritionally though, it just lacks any produce.

My personality hasn't changed. I was grumpy before and I'm grumpier now :flowerforyou:
-
I eat about twice the portions of the food I usually have everyday.
-
Because I have weird eating habits and consume a lot of junk on a regular basis (cookies, chocolate, alcohol, etc.). This is a health site, so odds are I would get a few wags of the finger and judgmental words so I just save myself the embarrassment by keeping it to myself

My salads are pretty simple  Tonight I had: Baby spinach + Honey Dijon yogurt dressing + cooked shrimp
-
@contrarian: Thanks. I think it tastes good... Sort of like Sprite, haha  I'm a pretty cheap drunk anyways.

I stopped eating fast food years ago after that Supersize Me documentary came out. If you haven't watched it, the full thing is on Youtube.
-
I'll probably just go back to eating normally and trying to stay within my calories. I'm more worried about getting exercise back into my day. I've been sleeping or on my butt most of the past week and a half.

They've helped me with my love handles, but I agree, it's more "toning" than "spot-reducing". I'm sure once I stop doing them my waist will be flabby again :blushing:
-
Crunches help, but I hate doing them.
-
Oatmeal or whatever's expiring in the kitchen  Currently have four sleeves of expired bagels in the fridge that I don't want to eat, but also rather not waste :blushing:
-
Haha I did that to a box of Danish butter cookies last night  Yes I log everything even if I go over. I'm not positive but I think when I log what I'm binging on, I tend to eat less than if I didn't. It's disappointing to see that red number but it helps deter me from going even further
-
The only thing that stops me from eating is the physical constraint of my stomach. Usually I will try to stuff myself full of high-fibre foods like broccoli and apples, so that there would be no room for higher-calorie binge food like chocolate and cookies. I get full fairly easily and have bad stomach pain if I eat too…

I follow the food pyramid that my country's public health service outlines  The last I checked, a nineteen-year-old woman needs ~7 servings of fruits/veggies, ~5 servings of whole grains, ~2 servings of meat and alternatives, etc. I don't follow it strictly, but just use it as a general guide. It's worked for me…

I don't really like thinspiration... I used to use it when I was a teenager but it just killed my self-esteem.
-
It does, thanks! This is logical, don't know why I didn't consider that haha.

My TOM came on Christmas day and my gut has bloated about three inches. I definitely think it's water retention.
-
Thanks for the reply, but unfortunately I don't own a food scale (poor college student). I can't even afford a scale to see how much *I* weigh lol :(
-
I don't weigh myself but my clothes are tighter on me and my gut is bloated :ohwell:

Wish I could take everyone's unwanted gifts in this thread  50% off at the grocery stores is the next best thing though
