  • Oh yeah, I think that fits into what I'm aiming for. I'd like to lean out more as I'm not looking to really aim for being super athletic or anything. I'd like to be more fit, and in shape enough to feel healthy and enjoy some leisure running without feeling dead by mile 2 lol. I'm assuming that with the program, to refrain…
  • I think that's an excellent idea! I think this whole feeling overwhelmed and not knowing where to start was holding me back, but as you state, the best thing to do is to get up and move. I've been starting to go for 2 mile walks, for 3 days out of the week. It's relaxing and gets me out of the house, despite it being below…
  • Oh yeah, I think that makes sense. I used to do some lifting before with a friend who knew what she was doing but never really explained to me at all why we were doing the moves, or why we did some higher reps on one, and lower on the other. It really felt like it was a "just follow me, and you'll be fine." But without…
  • Oh! Thank you for explaining that! Honestly I’ve heard so much information that conflicts everything I’ve known that it’s been hard for me to calculate what my needs are because of it. Yes, my goal is to lose weight and lean out (lose fat mass). My lifestyle is sedentary, and last I went to try to figure out my macros it…
  • I’m seeing that getting a personal trainer seems to be a very popular and common idea! I believe the gym I go to offers something similar through group training, but asking for a 1 on 1 session or something to get an idea of reps and sets might just be nice to ask for.
  • Thank you! I’ll check them out! =D
  • This is really helpful! Switching them up from week to week sounds like it’ll help stave off your body getting complacent. My main goal is to yes lose weight, but also to have more lean muscle, which in the end, is going to help raise my metabolism. I’d like to be leaner, and not bulk, so I understand there’s a different…
  • I had access to a game that used weights and circuit training, along with doing zumba. I no longer have the game, but I realize that maybe doing weighted circuit training was what really helped, along with tracking what I was eating and eating at a deficit. I think Peloton is a bit too pricey for me at the moment, but from…
  • I had a personal trainer about a year ago, and unfortunately things got really messy for her and there were somethings really terrible that happened in her life. Currently at the gym I go to (Planet Fitness) I believe they have ‘group training’ there where a trainer will help a small group to do exercises. I might see to…
  • I actually played a game on the Xbox 360 called “Your shape fitness” which had work out programs and such, along with playing the Zumba games. I never wrote down the exercises I did, because it was just a fun game that had me moving and losing weight. I no longer have my 360 anymore, otherwise, I’d probably would have…
  • awesome! I Need to practice running some more. This time 2 years ago I ran my second half marathon and I've always been proud of that. I didn't do it for time, just completion. I'd love to get into running a bit more regularly because I feel really good when I'm out there. I've got a couple of running coaches that are…
  • excellent!! That sounds amazing to hear! I know my body is stronger than I give it credit for, so being able to see gains in just feeling better and stronger is something I truly look forward to. I'm excited to hear that it's been working out well for you and it sounds like you've made some incredible milestones! Thank you…
  • Honesty, thank you all for your insight! There's a lot of good and helpful info that might help me put a regimen together and keep track of things. At the moment I'm trying to avoid groups and do things solo, but I definitely see the benefit to being kept accountable! I'll try and make some sheets myself!
  • Thank you so much! I think this is just what I needed to kickstart my way to improving myself
  • It's a heavy medal! It's super cute too! They have a 5k, 10k, half, and full marathon medals. They also have special medals for doing challenges. The Goofy Challenge is doing a Marathon and a half, and the Dopey challenge is doing all 4 marathons. It would be pretty awesome to have one of those.
  • Thank you so much! Yes, that was my first half! The only other marathon I've done was an 8K in Chicago back in 2013. I was much more in shape then than I am now.
  • That's the spirit! I'm glad my story helped inspire you and give you that extra push to know you can do it! Nothing feels better than pushing all that doubt out the window when you finally cross that finish line, no matter how you do it!
  • Thank you! I'm pretty excited about the start of this year! Now to keep that fire burning!
  • Thank you! I don't have many active friends on MFP, and I believe that might have been a big help to me back in the past. Just having people all over from different walks of life root you on and offer anything insightful was probably that nudge that kept me going. I know I want to loose the weight, I can almost feel that…
  • I have to change my way of thinking from the scale, though I should be really looking at inches. I think what also unnerves me is my scale says I am 47% body fat. That alone is perhaps the worst part of it all. And it all seems to be around my mid section. That's usually the hardest for me to change whenever I am working…
  • Yeah, I see old pictures when I was thinner, and miss the old days. Sometimes I think "If I did it before, I have to be able to do it again!" I really need a good kick in the butt.
  • anything done by studio Ghibly!
  • Oh thank you. That helps out
  • Thanks! I was also thinking I should count just in case, I didn't want to undo all this work.
  • Yeah no cheat days sound pretty strict to me. Though I battle with nutrition and portions a lot, I am just hoping I can get into a good rhythm and wondered if this worked for anyone else.
  • Hi! I thought I'd read into this because I REALLY Want to lose body fat. I looked into the TDEE-20% calculator provided in the link and it seemed to calculate a deficit for me that would be my food intake. Though it told me with this method I would lose 10lbs in 91 weeks going by this. That just seems like a REALLY long…
  • Oh interesting. I was wondering if I wanted to do HIIT, if I would have to train to do that, as in getting my cardio up first. I do some cardio circuit training on my weight training days, and it usually has me pretty winded. One full circuit of 5 moves for 30 seconds, 2 minute rest, and repeat for 3 reps. If you don't…
  • Oh wow thanks for that! I kind of figured that the sales guy was just trying to get me to buy his machine and give me "tips" that will help me lose body fat for good. It's just so hard to really figure out what would work for me, I've tried so many things so I always try and do extensive research. I will keep trying to…
  • Thanks! Find this information helpful. It's just so confusing when you see all these trainers telling you "this is what burns fat" "No this burns fat", "No eating carbs" "Carbs are good" "Don't eat these foods" "Eat foods in good moderation and stay in your calorie deficit" "Work out 3x a week" "Work out 5-6 times" It all…
