We just had an incident at work where someone fell off their exercise ball/chair, whacked their head on the desk, and gave themselves a minor concussion. Now all ball/chairs are unauthorized. Good times.

I have one glass of red wine nightly. I'll switch to beer in the fall/winter when the hearty seasonal brews are released. I factor them all into the daily calorie count.

I think any way you choose to do these is fine - as long as you are achieving a full range of motion on the calf. I was losing my balance doing a standing calf raise on a block. Now I use a leg press machine - probably not ideal, but I'm able to remain consistent.

I was lifting a few months before I started the All Pro routine. However, it was kind of scattered and I needed a routine to focus my relatively short (~ 1 hour) gym sessions. I'm currently in cycle 5 of the All Pro routine - very few of my lifts increased beyond cycle 4 - especially now that I'm in a cutting phase. Below…

Good article on cardio and muscle gains below....(lots of good stuff on Scooby's site) http://scoobysworkshop.com/does-cardio-burn-muscle/ I think the main issue with cardio is that it can make it difficult to meet caloric goals - not that it will strip your muscles. When trying to gain weight I limited my runs to 4 miles…

More importantly, coffee believes in me. We have a strong relationship.

To be honest, it wouldn't be that hard to lose Beth. She really hasn't added much except for the occasional haunted singing at the end of an episode. Not sure if that will be dramatic enough for the writers - I'm also feeling that Glenn is a dead man walking (hope I'm wrong). I think it would be nice to get an occassional…

Any thoughts on last night's "I Ain't a Judas" episode? Rick held it together - that was a nice change. Carol matter-of-factly telling Andrea to execute The Governor was great. Not sure what it means by Andrea not following through - may mean she is fully The Governor's gal now. I think they are actually going to try and…

Yikes! Some of my all time favorites made your list (not Nickelback). How can you hate Dire Straits? "Sultans of Swing" is a guitar masterpiece.

Yes...comedy gold!

...can't link to youTube at work, but search there for "Lonely Island" and "Michael Bolton." That will be a MB song you enjoy.

The arrow through the head announcing Daryl's return was fantastic. I still don't see how they can integrate Merle into the group as they've gone so far down the road of writing him as an unrepentant villain. Maybe seeing the signs of Daryl's abuse will be the turning point - but I think he needs to lay low in a separate…

Sean Connery - Highlander 2

Yup...those two are going to be trouble. I think they are doing a really nice job of developing Tyreese's character. Very little screen time so far, but you already get a sense of his strength and moral center. I'm hoping he doesn't get offed as rapidly as Oscar.
-
Maybe the video game is meant as Dixon Bros back story. Concur with above poster - numerous spoiler sites reporting Daryl reunification sooner rather than later. Regarding an earlier post - Merle just won't work as part of the group. The writers have worked too hard making him a despised character. If they try and rewrite…

There will need to be some FANTASTIC writing if they are going to turn Merle into a sympathetic character that is accepted by the group.

I think the writers are staying fairly true to form with Andrea (even though I don't care for it.) She did start siding with Shane at the farm and those two started conspiring for a coup against Rick's leadership. She is drawn to strength regardless of the moral code exhibited - in fact, she seems to consider a moral code…

One of the key lines last night was when Rick told Tyreese that he couldn't be responsible for them. Rick is wholly invested in the survival of the group and every death taxes a bit of his sanity - he knows that and is reluctant to take on more.
-
I don't get the sense they are playing Rick as a racist. Michonne doesn't speak - so it's hard to crack that nut. I don't think I'd be willing to go open arms with a group of prisoners - esp. after their leader tried to kill me. Also, don't forget that Morgan is someone that Rick holds in high esteem (saved his life, keeps…
-
The she-doesn't-trust-anybody-nobody-trusts-her bit with Michonne is about one episode from getting stale. I'm worried this show may become a victim of its own success and start to drag out story lines for longevity. Rick needs to be marignalized while he sorts through his illness (or doesn't). Seems they are setting up…

Well said, Chris. I attribute many of my successes to confidence alone. I'm neither the strongest nor smartest guy out there, but I'm stubborn and know that if I stick with something I will usually win out.

Thank you for your service. Good luck on your goals.

That's exactly what it is. :frown:

This is a fantastic group - I learn something here daily. Today I'll pick up some Chucks and leave the ASICS in the locker on lift days. Tonight I'll head into the garage and dig out the lifting belt that's been in a box for over a decade (I thought the new wisdom was that belts limit core strengthening.) Thanks, team!

^ Exactly how I approach it. I usually stick within guidelines on medium days, but then make a judgement call on the light days. If I'm feeling beat down on a certain exercise I'll stick to the plan (-20% cycle working weight), otherwise I'll treat it as a another medium day. I also add push-ups/sit-ups to the end of my…

Thanks to all for the advice. Bench is picking back up, though still not quite at pre-holiday reps. I decided to stick with 185 as I move into SBR Cycle 5. I am expecting all exercises to stall out in cycle 5 as I'm switching to a cut. Gained (intentionally) 14 pounds over the past six months and it's time to see what lies…

Thanks. I'll try that today.

Hi Sara - thanks for the questions 1) Seven days of Christmas vacation was spent at my parents' house. LOTS of holiday eating (very little of it healthy). I'm pretty sure I was over-calorie/under-protein during that period. I gained no weight during that time - so there may have been a bit of muscle loss and fat gain. I…

You're right, of course. I just don't like the idea of going backwards - especially since I can't figure out the cause. I'll chalk it up to old age and keep plugging along. Thanks.
