totally get what you are saying, catch myself doing that a lot. have for years. got really bad when i became a mom and started scarfing down here and there when i could, in between doing stuff for the kids, finishing off their plates, etc. i still do it from time to time, and you are right it's a mental thing. i literally…

http://8weekstoabetteryourecipes.blogspot.com/p/breakfast-smoothies.html scroll down, there is a link for banana bread. you can sub splenda for the honey if you want to. i've not made it yet, but it sounds good. bake it, slice it up, freeze slices individually, bag and pull out a slice at a time for better portion control.

i make these for my family, they are super good and batch freeze really well! tweak as needed (brown sugar splenda, sub half butter/half canned pumpkin or applesauce). they are seriously yummy. Breakfast Bars 3/4 C packed brown sugar 1/2 C butter or margarine 1 egg 1 t vanilla 1 2/3 C flour 1/2 C ground flax seed 2 1/2 t…

nutrition.gov is a great site, all sorts of resources there. daily caloric needs based on age/activity level, nutrients needed, things to avoid, recipe links, food facts, etc. it's a good place to find lots of info and links. i try and take the "snack" approach to lunch when kids are picky. my three pretty much eat the…

So, before you started to lose weight, what kind of foods did you eat? Was their certain tastes/textures you liked? What types of foods did you enjoy eating (sweet, savory, salty)? What types of ethnic foods did you eat, if any? Give us some ideas of what kinds of foods you liked before, that'll help w/suggetsions.

Then if that is the case, you have to be burning more than the HRM says. I would check to make sure it's calibrated properly? I don't have one, so I'm not sure how to check.

First off, KUDOS to you for trying to figure out how to fit in your exercise daily while making time for your family!!! Seriously, good for you:) Your wife I KNOW appreciates it, talking from experience here:) Try it and see if it works. If it doesn't affect your sleep pattern, go for it. If you can't sleep and you end up…

Well any exercise is good, that is true. How fast are you walking? I walk a 13 minute mile, and I don't have a HRM but I know my heart rate is higher. It takes me about an hour to walk four and a quarter miles, and I burn around 300 cal. Maybe increase the intensity? See if that makes a difference. It should, bottom line…

eric, have her go to pinterest, she seriously will find a TON of great stuff. one of my kids eats a GFCF diet, and i've found lots of things for him on that site. also, maybe websites of manufacturers that specialize in natural sweetners (agave, honey, brown rice syrup). Ener-G makes an egg replacement, i bet she can find…

I love b'fast now. Seriously, probably my fave meal of the day. Probably because I work out first thing in the AM, so I'm ready for it! Some of my favorites are: -french toast made with Orowheat light bread (80 cal for two slices, 8 gm fiber). I take two eggs, add some cinnamon and a splash of unsweetened almond milk.…

liberty, if you consistently walk the same route(s) you can use your cars odometer to verify the mileage. Check it against your pedometer to make sure it's registering your steps correctly.

Right there with you, understand completely. Have been "chubby" pretty much from 3rd grade through college. Lost weight when I got married, gained a TON with pregnancies, didn't lose it all and it accumulated. I was made fun of a LOT, for all sorts of things, weight was only one of them. I understand about letting people's…

I understand, right there with you. I've hit my goal weight, but my body still isn't perfect. I still have a poochy tummy, saddlebags, jiggles and wiggles. Know what? I'm working on accepting it and loving my new body. Is it perfect? Heck no. Is it leaps and bounds better? Heck yes! Fitness experts, and I'm sure I'm gonna…

I'd go w/something pampering (facial, mani/pedi, massage, good haircut) or something that isn't consumable. My rewards I've given myself are things I use regularly that I really like and help remind me how far I've come. I love my morning coffee, so I kept my eye out and found an awesome mug that I now use every morning…

Fantastic job!!!! You and I started at the exact same weight, I reached my goal and am now maintaining. You are right, you CAN do it!

You also might want to make sure you are calculating your walking distance correctly. I powerwalk an hour a day, street not treadmill, and I can barely manage 4 miles in a hour. If you were walking 5 miles in an hour, you would be almost jogging. Are you using a treadmill to monitor your mileage? Or if not, a pedometer…

I made a variation today and it was good! I used 1/2 C cottage cheese, 1/2 C unsweetened applesauce, 1 T sugar free butterscotch pudding mix, pinch of salt, pinch of xanathan gum, water and ice cubes. Whirled in my VitaMix, absolutely delish! I know it's not anywhere as near the original as far as protein. However it was…

I can't anwser the why, but I have a suggestion on how to heal it faster. Arnica gel, that stuff works wonders on bruises. Seriously, it's amazing stuff. You can get it at a natural foods store, or even a major drug store should have it. It also works well on soreness, strained muscles, etc. But it'll break that bruise…

Welcome! I am a mom to a 9, 7 and 5 year old. I understand how busy you can get. Making time for yourself is always easier said than done. What I've started doing is working for me and my family. Might not work for you, but this is what I do. 1. exercise early morning, before the kids get up. i know a 9 mo old gets up…

I personally try not to wait until I'm "hungry" to eat. When I do, I tend to grab quick to eat stuff and unless I've taken the time to prepare stuff in advance or have bought "healthy convenience" food (which I'm trying not to do) I end up eating stuff I'd rather not eat and tend to overeat too. It's a trigger for me, I…

I was over 100 plus pounds overweight. My breaking point was when I was at the OB/GYN's office, seeing a Dr I had never seen before. She had me in stirrups, up in the air with her head in my you know what and she asked me, "So, have you been obese your entire life?" SERIOUSLY!!! Yep, I know TMI, but honestly that is what…

Yes, you can eat well on $50 a week. Especially if you set the entire amount aside at the beginning of the month, so you can take advantage of sales to stock up. If you are willing to buy little to no convenience or pre-packaged food your money will go the farthest. Cooking from scratch is always cheapest. If you can get a…

I make my own, that is the only way I eat them. I figure the ones from the store are either too expensive, full of salt or totally overprocessed so why bother? Just my opinion though! Plus, making your own is WAAAAAAY cheaper. The recipe below is the one I normally use. I omit the breadcrumbs, otherwise they are too dry…

I got them pretty bad when I first started power walking. I don't stretch beforehand but I do a slow warm up pace for the first 5 minutes or so. However I faithfully stretch afterwards and after a few days they went away and haven't returned. Look up stretches for post running/walking workouts, they help!!

I agree it doesn't matter when you do it, as long as you do. Was just curious as to what worked best for people. Since we all have different lifestyles, home lifes, etc of course our routines will differ.

To those of you that have trouble fitting it in, I understand. I have a 9,7 and 5 year old and am a SAHM so when I would just try and "fit it in" it never happened. Once I started getting up early (before they did), it was much easier to fit it in. I didn't like it at first, but now I really like that time of day and it…

If you are binge eating consistently, you aren't eating because you are hungry. You're eating for other reasons. Figure out what they are, you probably already know. Figure out other ways to cope w/them, otherwise you won't break the cycle. If you are buying the junk food, stop bringing it into the house. If you parents…

Victoria, it'll be ok. Remember it's a journey, not a destination, right? (I need to remember that myself!) As for what you're craving, guessing you have some hormonal shifts or vitamin deficiencies. Are you taking vitamins/supplements consistently? That might help. Also, if it's certain types of food (salt/starch/carbs)…
