Big bruise after working out?

I went to the gym a few days ago, and I worked out hard. I did alot if strength exercises an I usually dont do those because I normally workout from home, where I just do the elliptical . Anyways, I noticed the next day I got this nasty bruise, about 3 inches long and 2 inches wide. It's purplish and really dark. Anyways, should I be concerned about this? Why did I bruise like that?

Are you sore other than that? I'm sure you just strained and broke a small blood vessel... take it easy for a couple days but you should be fine after a while, and then maybe start out lighter and work your way up to that intensity next time.0

I can't anwser the why, but I have a suggestion on how to heal it faster. Arnica gel, that stuff works wonders on bruises. Seriously, it's amazing stuff. You can get it at a natural foods store, or even a major drug store should have it. It also works well on soreness, strained muscles, etc. But it'll break that bruise down much faster than if you didn't use it.0
