Weigh the briefcase. If it weighs considerably less than 99.05 then the scales are ok. I use my son's dumbells to periodically check my scales.

I'm an audio typist. My boss sometimes continues to do his dictation whilst eating his lunch. Then when I come to type that dictation I have the high definition highlights of his chomping and chewing, speaking with his mouth full and swallowing direct to my ears in stereo!! Gross doesn't cover it!!

My son has weights and every month or so I put them on the scales to make sure they weigh what they are supposed to. The minute they tell me 40lbs is anything other than 40lbs they are out the door!

The picture in this link (if it works)is of 20 sticks of butter. This equates to 5lbs of fat. I'm in the UK so don't know a stick of butter from a poke in the nose!
