binged

Hi I am 5"4 and weigh 122 lbs. Over the past two months I've been trying to eat better and lost 2 lbs. However, I binged this whole week and gained back the two pounds so technically I am right where I started. This is really demotivating me because I put so much effort into losing those two pounds and gained them back within a week of eating excessive amounts of food (carbs). Is this weight permanent and does this mean I am right back to where I started?

I doubt you truly gained two pounds in just a week. Maybe half a pound at most. Just get back to normal and you'll see the weight drop within 2-3 days.

Then come up with some strategies so this doesn't happen again. Were you being too restrictive with yourself? Emotional eating?

Not so sure, since I do the same things... But I think you need to look at the overall picture! (As do I.) We all know when we are being bad to ourselves, and when we are being good. So you had a bad week, you know it, you don't need the scale to reinforce what you already know. Now you learn from it, and go forward. If you let it get to you and as you say "demotivate" you, then you'll continue to binge and only add on more weight! Don't let that happen!!! Just think, "hey, I messed-up. But I can get back on track". And do it. I think that's truly what's important is the overall outlook, not just the present.

You have an 800 Calorie per day goal. You should probably be eating twice that in the first place.

^^This. When you underfeed your body it will start asking you for the nutrients it needs. Sometimes it doesn't ask very nicely.

Both. I'm stuck in a binge restrict cycle right now (horrible!!) When I binged it's usually because I step on the scale, don't see the number I want, see myself in the mirror and don't like how I look

You binged because you were underfed and undernourished. Eat more every day, you are currently eating 800, try doubling that.

In that case, and seeing as how you are 5'4, 122, I recommend getting some professional help for your body dysmorphia and (potential) eating disorders.
