  • I had some extensive foot surgery two years ago, in a cast for 9 weeks. I bought some chair aerobics tapes and had fun with those. Of course, as was mentioned, check with your doctor first.
  • Welcome! You are so sweet to support your wife. Although I have lost weight before, I always did it alone. This time, my husband is working at it too and it is making it a lot easier for me. We are supporting each other in our endeavors.

  • That really is phenomenal! If I were to get to exactly what the insurance company charts say, I'd have to lose 100 lbs. It certainly is a dream of mine but I don't know if it's realistic. I'd be very happy with 80. Best wishes on the next 40!
  • The only thing I can think of is that what you lost was pre-menstrual water weight.
  • Good for you!!! Keep up the good work.

  • Welcome to both of you, cknise and Trav. I came here particularly for the food diary. It's much easier than writing everything down and having to look up calories and carbs. I love the exercise database too. Good luck to both of you.

  • Just put it behind you and start fresh. Tomorrow is a new day. I didn't binge this weekend but took in a few more calories than I normally do what with a fancy dinner on Friday night and a catered brunch at church today. I know it wasn't good for me but I did enjoy myself. Monday is a new day!
  • I've used it a couple of times and found it to not be so accurate. I did a cookie recipe as written and then substituted half the sugar with Splenda. It gave me a higher calorie count for the Splenda version. Go figure. There was something else that I found that was kind of wonky but I can't remember what it is right now.
  • I've made some pumpkin chocolate chip cookies that uses a spice cake and two cans of pumpkin plus the chocolate chips. That's it. They are a more spongy texture but their flavor is awesome.
  • I dug out an inexpensive pedometer that I'd purchased a couple of years ago. I had never gotten it set up because the instructions were obviously translated from another language (probably Chinese since it was made in China) and were hard to follow. It also required my having to convert my weight to Kg's and my stride to…
  • I know that it's recommended to weigh only once a week, but I'm another one that weighs once a day. I use what I see on Friday mornings as what I record.
  • Congratulations! I have three pairs of good jeans I'm waiting to get into. Unfortunately, I don't have any that are one size less than I'm currently wearing (which are getting way too big.) I have two that are two sizes smaller and one that is three sizes smaller. I can get one of the pairs on, zipped and snapped but they…
  • Great job! Congratulations!!
  • I've lost 55 lbs. and 30 lbs. at a couple of different points in my life. I could stand to lose 100 lbs. but I'd be really happy with 75-80. It's going so slowly, it's really hard to visual my being able to stick to it long enough to reach my goal, but I really do want to. I'm setting short term goals to start. My first…
  • Welcome Kimbery Sue. A lot of what you have described, I've been through. I'm a good deal older than you but I'm really glad that you are ready to take steps to change your weight - and your life - at 25. Maybe if your mom sees you losing weight and being happy with what you are doing, she'll decide to join you in your…

  • Good for you!! I'm glad I work from home now. :)
  • My doctor is very receptive to reducing my meds. My blood pressure has been really good and he suggested dropping one of my 4 BP meds but I told him I wanted to hold off on that a bit. If it's still good at my next visit, I think it will be time to get rid of one of them. I'm glad that I have a doctor that listens to me.
  • Welcome! Finding MFP has been a great help in my journey of losing weight and getting healthier. Logging my food here is so much easier than keeping a paper log, especially because of the incredible food database. It does take committment, but you can do it.

  • Welcome MFP! It's not too difficult to find your way around. If you want to log what you eat, click on the Food tab at the top of the page. You can log your exercise by clicking on the Exercise tab. To read messages in the forum, click on the Community tab. I then click on Recent Posts in the bar below the Community tab.…

  • I have gone through times when I've been obsessive about weighing. Right now I don't weigh everyday, but usually several times a week. I use what I see on Friday mornings as what I record.
  • I love sweet potatoes too. You just need to watch what you add to them. Loading them down with butter and brown sugar is not good, but if you can eat them without adding junk, they are good for you.
  • Welcome! I've been on MFP for a couple of months now and I really love how easy it is to keep track of what I eat, drink and the exercise I do. The support here is great so I hope we can help you reach your goals.
  • I love bananas too! There were some facts in your post that I didn't know. Thanks for sharing.
  • I don't like to term it cheating. That's so negative. ;) I consider it a "variation" of my normal eating patterns. Mine also is not necessarily on the weekend. I try to plan ahead for an indulgence but sometimes it is spontaneous and I try to be careful the rest of the day or that day and the next. It's working for me. I…
  • Thanks a lot! Boy, the instructions sure don't tell you that. I'll give it a try.
  • OK, I bought one. (Had to pay shipping on it though.) I've got my profile set up. I don't seem to be able to make it show the heart rate. It says to "press and hold the lower left hand button for 3 seconds." I assume they are referring to the Mode button? When I press it for 3 seconds, it gives me something that says "Warm…
  • AWESOME! You go girl!!!
  • Stormie has given a dynamite list! I know from recent experience that losing just 10% of you body weight can make a dramatic difference in your blood sugar levels. I've only lost about 5% so far and my glucose levels are incredibly improved. I am exercising 6-7 days a week (mostly walking) and logging my food here at MFP.…
