  • I was at a party last weekend and some Dry January folks brought some alcohol free distilled "spirits" to make AF Gin and Tonics. They were really tasty! Had lots of the juniper botanical flavor of real gin. Its called Seedlip. Found an article about it:…
  • Your runs are going to feel so great without alcohol in your system. As a runner myself, I can say this from experience. Nothing helped my running more than not drinking before long runs and getting to bed early.
  • Hello I am back to this challenge after about 4 years :# off. I am a former marathon runner (4:50 PR in 2012) and I miss running! I tore a calf muscle (while walking not running) in May of 2016 and have been a very infrequent runner since then. It's time for me to make a come back! I've run a total of 3 full marathons…
  • Hello I am back to this challenge after about 4 years :# off. I am a former marathon runner (4:50 PR in 2012) wow and I miss running! It's time for me to make a come back. I moved cross country and away from my running community. I tried to establish one here but it never gelled the way it did back East. I also met this…

  • Congrats to all the successful January people! I am ready to get this started. Luckily my fiancé is joining me. My current favorite tea is Trader Joes Moroccan Mint Green Tea. No sugar or cream needed. I also like La Croix and making "soda" of seltzer water and a splash of juice. Grapefruit is my favorite. I also enjoy…
  • Hello - I am currently at about 185 and am 5'5". Today is my first day. I also have hypothyroid and am on lexo too. I am getting married in 3 months and want to fit into a dress that's currently two sizes too small! I've decided to try going gluten free to see if it helps my hypo symptoms. I've been reading a lot about how…

  • Hello! I am going to be cutting down but not out completely. I am getting married in a few months and want to do all that I can to get in better shape. We have slipped into a routine of drinking too much wine after work and its getting in the way of exercising more or sleeping better. I want to cut back to no alcohol…
  • Getting married the first weekend of May. YIKES. Why didn't I start dieting 12 years ago? Don't have a dress yet. Shopping has been demoralizing.
  • Hello! I am another slow runner. My half PR is a 2:04 but that was many many moons ago. My most recent half was a 2:29 and I was so happy about it! LOL. How times have changed. I am in training for my next half on March 28th. This time I am really training so I hope to see improvement in my time.
  • I am in the same boat and its EXTREMELY frustrating and hard not to compare my recent runs to the running I was doing while in serious marathon training. I have to remind myself. Slow and steady. Patience is not my strong suit though. I just signed up for 3 half marathons! August, November and February.
  • I am rebuilding mileage after a LOOOOOONG break. I am going to start nice and easy with 50 miles in July. Thanks for the motivation!
  • I have the same issue. I find chewing gum helps. I even tried special gum designed for runners - i didn't think it worked any better than regular gum though and it didn't taste as good. In the summer you should be hydrating on your runs. There is nothing wrong with drinking water. I always bring water with me on any run…
  • 40 weeks should be sufficient. There are no guarantees, injuries do happen but 40 weeks should give you enough time to build slowly enough to avoid injuries if you are healthy and injury-free now. Make sure to pay attention to cross training and stretching too. I made the mistake of ignoring the importance of strength…
  • Hashi here - I was just diagnosed this spring and am still working on getting medication right. I think I need more than the 50mg I was initially prescribed. I am going back to monitor soon though so that should get sorted. Thanks for all the advice above. I've gained 25 pounds pretty quickly at least in part as a result…
  • Hi Heather, I am Josie and I just started back today. I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's too and and still working on getting my medication right. I was a marathon runner (a slow one but still) two years ago then I started putting on weight and feeling sluggish. I lacked the energy to train and then knee issues made…
  • I was also going to suggest seat exercise videos. Youtube has a lot of great free content that you can use to work out at home for no money with equiptment you probably already have. You can use water bottles or canned food for weights and maybe buy some cheap resistance bands and have a great workout without putting…
  • If you are 6 feet and 237# 1500-2000 is probably not a reasonable goal for you. I am 5'5' and #173 and my base metabolic rate is 1700 so I need to net at least that just to properly function. With your height and weight you probably need to make sure you are netting at least 1800-2000. Also its only been a week.. Keep up…
  • Great work! I am 5'5" starting at 175 and have a 150 first goal with maybe a 140 final goal. Thanks for posting your results and congrats on your success. I was also down to nearly my goal weight (153) and regained it all so seeing that you got it back off again is especially inspiring.
  • I am a thirsty girl and I need to hydrate when I do long runs in even slightly warmer temperatures. I used to use an amphopod belt with 2 10oz bottles but just switched to a camelbak 50oz. So far I like it. Its comfortable and drinking now interupts my stride a lot less. I think I end up drinking more water while wearing…
  • Congratulations and the photos are lovely!
  • I am going to be doing Murph for the first time with my box on Sunday. I may only do a half Murph ("Murphette") and I will be scaling and breaking it up into Cindys as I do not have strict pull up or push ups yet. I am a long distance runner so I am not anticipating the running will be a problem.
  • I agree. I don't think it was photoshopped but I don't think these photos are of the same girl or bikini. The colors are the same but the top and bottoms are totally different.
  • OUCH! I am such a wuss. Can I do squats instead?
  • Congrats! Hopefully I'll be able to do the same soon!

  • I just learned how to make omletts in the microwave so I have been bringing those to work for breakfast. So much faster and easier to clean than making on stove.
  • HI Joy. I was part of your January whole30 group. I have fallen off the wagon big time and need to get back on track too. :-( I really enjoyed the whole30 while I was doing it. I think I just got lazy and haven't been doing all the shopping and cooking I need to do to make it work. Also excuses....excuses...excuses. This…
