  • Dido -- I dont think everyday will hurt. We have them at work. On our 15 breaks we do a mile at a time. .... perfect way to get in 30mins a day 5 days a week! I do more at home, but use the walk away as an everyday base (and its way more fun with 10 others doing it too, we swap and share the videos to have a bit of a…
  • I agree with 1 lb -- it gives you some room to error on both sides. If you eat too few calories you will not lose and make it harder on yourself and if you over eat a bit a day or so you will still be OK. Keep up the good work!
  • I did the same thing when I started. 1200 cals was just not enough for me. After 2 weeks I upped the cals to 1400, dropped 7 lbs that week! For the past 6 months I have followed between 1400- and 1600 to lose the 30 lbs. I am not finding that that is not enough. As I have lost, have more energy and in general I am a more…
  • Agreed - dont worry about it and move on! Over the past 6 months I have been pretty dedicated, but we all burn out at times and we all have big weekends, parties, holidays -- still need to live and have fun! I find when I go off for a few days ( I stay at 1400-1600 cals) - not eat crazy, but know I have eaten more than I…
  • Peanut butter! Good for you fat, good protein and 200 Cals per 2 table spoons! spread some on a couple crakers, celery or just on a spoon. Its my Fav treat (and its a treat cause I usually have no problem eating all my cals , then some)
  • Agree - Smaller more frequent meals. Try bulky stuff too, like oatmeal, and almonds are great too. I keep a baggie of them everywhere - Car, office desk, home! And for a crunchy snack try a tablespoon of chunky peanut butter speard over a couple celery sticks.

  • As for the oatmeal, Quaker has an new instant HIGH FIBER one. It has 10mg fiber instead of 3 like the reg ones do. When I go out with work friends for a big calorie filled lunch, I will eat two packets and fruit for dinner. One I am full with the much oatmeal for under 400 cals and all that fiber (20mg in one sitting!)…
  • I only adjust with the recommended settings and set it to 1 lb per week and just know if you go a bit below that cal setting (which for me is about 1440) you are mostly OK. I tend not to worry too much about how much is remaining or over and just go by the number of cals and what I know works for me.
  • Sorry - had hitthe send buttom twice -- and it posted twice. I just edited it out so it wasnt on twice :blushing:
  • WOW! 115 lbs thats great! I hope to be there someday! How long did it take you to get that much off? It is great to know you look good on the inside and out!
  • was e-mailed seperatly about how I got my Cholesterol to come down. I thought I would post my e-mailed reply here in case anyone else was interested: As soon as I got my blood work back in August I started exercising and watching what I eat. My grandmother had 4 heart attacks and died from the last one and all the females…
  • Yes - Oatmeal is one of my fav meals now. Low cals - high fiber and very filling. Days I am too tired to cook it becomes dinner along with some blueberries! My poor husband has had to learn to fend for himself :)
  • I have been very happy and continue to lose with the upped numbers. What helped me was going to the WEB MD “Diet Evaluator" http://www.webmd.com/diet/default.htm. It goes through a series of questions and gives a detailed explanation of how many cal you need to stay the same vs lose. My overall goal is to keep my intake…
  • I have used the Wii fit and Wii active. I use them both, but the active is better. I make my own routines to get the most cals burnt in the shortest time. Right now have a boot brace on and can only do upper body/non bouncy stuff and this has been perfect. I am still loseing weight and toneing a bt too. good luck!
  • The last time I traveled I booked a hotel that was 1.5 -2 miles from the conference and I walked back and forth (and up hill too), excersied in the AM at hotel gym, controlled my breakfast eating and did the best I could with lunch and dinner - I wasn't perfect - but I did lose a few pounds. I also packed by own snacks…
  • YES! Eat those calories you have earned them! :drinker: Your body will go into survival mode if you fall below 1200 cals a day (i.e. it will try to hold onto everything) so if say you are trying to lose 2lbs a week and eating 1200 cals, then you burn 200 exercising, you will be below 1200. I don’t eat mine back every day,…
  • You have my sympathy -- If this boot doesnt work I am looking at surgery myself. And you're right, most options for excercise dont burn a ton of calories when you cant use your feet! I have 2 gyms near me, unfortunely no pools - which does sound like a great idea. I think I might try a membership for a month ...and keep…
  • Everyone is different -- for me it took 2 weeks to lose anything after starting and I find I lose 5 -7 lbs one week and then nothing for 10-14 days weeks. I started buying smaller clothes about a month and half after I started. In the past 4 months I have lost 30 (I started trying before I signed up here) and 4 inches off…
  • I have both and like both. They both have their plus and minuses ... I use both within the week, and even in the same day on the weekends. Right now I am using the wii active more because I just got it for Christmas and I use the wii fit as a scale most days, but it is nice to have both
  • I am with you! Dark, cold weather + Holidays approaching does not equal weight loss. My new goal until after Christmas is to just MAINTIAN ... I have upped my calories to lose 1/2 lbs a week (was at 1.5 lbs a week). Enjoy the weight you have lost and get through the Holidays. To me that will be worth celebrating!
  • The bright spot in your 1000 cal lunch is that you KNOW its 1000 cals! Most people eat like that every day (and me included before I started this) and then have just as much for dinner. I think half the battle of getting fit is just being aware of what we are eating! Just try again tomorrow and have fun tonight!
  • 2 quick suggestions depending on whats around you. KFC has a new grilled chicken, its really good ! Also if you have a Qdoba near you you can get a "naked burrito" (buritto with no taco shell). You can go online and plan a 400-600 cal burrito on their site. Its a lot of food for the cals. happy eating!
  • I started at 1200 too and didn’t t drop anything for 2 weeks. I upped to 1300, lost a few pounds, so I upped the calories to 1500 and found my sweet spot. Have lost 16 lbs in the past 8 weeks doing this! And I eat all my exercise calories (normally 200-300 cals). Even though I have a desk job, I think I move more than I…
  • well thay is normally what I would do too, but I ate 4 slices  trying to tell myslef it wasnt THAT bad :noway:
  • The calorie information is for Pizza Hut - its from their web page info.
  • Rusted Root "Cruel Sun" -- from 1992, great for getting up and really moving!
  • I started at 1200 too ...nothing for 2 weeks. I upped to 1300-1500. in the last 6 weeks following the false start I have lost 15lbs! yep 1200 can be too low! Good luck! :flowerforyou:
  • Congrats! I feel your joy. I have divided all my jeans into: too big, just right, 10 lbs from now, and need a shoe horn! I like adding to the "Donate - too big" pile! reshopping your own closest is the best!
  • I had the same probelm when I started. I started at 1200 cals, but lost nothing for 2 weeks. I upped my intake to 1300- 1600 cals and dropped 4 lbs the next week and I have lost another 6 lbs over the past 3 weeks. And like others have said, I have heard 1200 is too low for many people.
  • I drink a lot of mint / peppermint (herbal) tea, especially in the AM while waiting for lunch to come around. For me the extra water makes me feel full between meals and the minty flavor keeps my taste buds satisfied as it tends to linger for while. I don’t know if a small mint candy would do the same thing, but might be…
