  • Get out of your head about it. Enjoy your taper time. Get some new headphones, listen to an audio book that you find interesting when you run. My public library has a great selection available for download. Just put everything out of your head and listen to the story.
  • Congratulations!

  • It's great you made the decision to do a 5k. I went through the same thing about 2 years ago. At first I could only walk and using a HRM monitor, I would go as fast as I could until I had to slow down for my heart rate to come back down. After a couple months of that, I starting doing the Couch to 5K program (and home DVD…
  • My first is May 4. in Kalamazoo, MI. I already planning to train for my second in the Fall.
  • I've been on paleo for 14 months now and have lost a total of 73lbs and have been maintaining for 4 months now. This is the hardest thing I've ever done with the best results. I no longer need hypertension or cholesterol medication, also my type 2 diabetes is fully in control with diet and exercise only.
  • Kalamazoo here.
  • I'm not sure which video it is, but at the end one of the guys does a break-dance move to prove he's the king of the D-bags. On his way out of the spin, he nearly kicks Ariel in the face. She gives him the stink eye. THAT guy annoys me.
  • I listen mostly to audiobooks I check out from our public library's digital section now, but every once in a while I check out the "Nightwish" (Finnish band) station. It's kind of rock meets opera. It's nice for a 10k session on the treadmill. Nice and evenly paced tempos.
  • Hello! I've been following the paleo guidelines for going on 10 months and have lost 73 lbs since last May. I keep my diary open and I'm on daily logging workouts with my HRM. I've sent a request. :)
  • Thanks. We're leaving tomorrow morning and coming back Sunday. I found turkey jerky, some assorted raw nuts, the hard boiled eggs are a good idea. I can live with eating steak and eggs and salad if I have to. We ended up picking a hotel with a decent gym and indoor pool, so I won't be missing my workouts. I just need a…
  • There's one on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/One-Pound-Fat-Replica-1Lb-Model/dp/B000BHQLY6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361267315&sr=8-1&keywords=fat+model
  • Sweet potatoes are great for a carb source. My main workout is running at the moment until I get through my 10k in the spring. I usually eat 1/2 a banana, or half a serving of dates about 20-30 minutes before I run, and then eat the other half when I finish. I have sweet potatoes usually with lunch and dinner. I can't get…
  • Hello and welcome! I found my way to the Paleo way of eating mainly for psoriasis, hypertension and type 2 diabetes (I've lost enough weight and my conditions have improved to the point my Dr. took me off all medication :) ). I've been eating mainly by Paleo guidlines for about 6 months now. My diary is open, feel free to…
  • I've been on paleo for almost 6 months now. Feel free to add me (anyone).
  • I found the active.com registration page: http://www.active.com/5k-race/ypsilanti-mi/the-color-run-michigan-eastside-2013?int=29-12 The Event's Website: http://thecolorrun.com/eastern-michigan/ I'm not sure about doing events in general. I hate crowds because I tend to get claustrophobic.
  • I found it on Amazon, although it's not free for Prime. $3.99 for the rental. Thanks for the tip! I added it to my watchlist and I'll check it out sometime this week.
  • I've been full on paleo since July (I started phasing into it in May). I have even more restrictions because I'm also following the Pagano diet for psoriasis, so no nightshades or pork/beef either. What gets on my nerves is when people at work stand behind me and comment on my breakfast "you're eating chicken and broccoli…
  • I had this issue in both feet when I was at my heaviest. The cortisone shots are no fun. I think what helped me the most (besides losing the weight) was the yoga pose "downward dog" and alternating bending knees to put more weight on the straight leg. It took a few months, but eventually the pain went away completely. I…
  • My warm up walk is 3.6 - 3.8mph. I start my jog at 6mph and after I get past that first 10 minutes, I might pick it up to 6.5 or 7 for a bit depending on how I feel. I do "sprints" for 2-3 minutes at a time at 8mph. I'm 5'6 so some smart@sses at the gym told me I look like the Roadrunner on the treadmill because my legs…
  • Hi, I'm Shane 36 years old married with two daughters 8 and 6 years old. I've lost 67 pounds total since May using MFP, paleo diet guidelines, and lots of sweat. I'm getting to the point where the fat loss isn't so easy and I have about 20ish pounds to go to goal.
  • I don't think it's out of line at all to ask what foods will be served. I follow paleo because it closely matches the "diet" you should follow to minimize psoriasis. I typically ask what foods will be there and if I need to, I either bring my own food, or eat ahead of time then bring a veggie tray for something to snack on…
  • Kafta! http://www.skinnytaste.com/2011/05/persian-turkey-kofta-kebabs.html
  • Sliced with firm tofu, wrapped in romaine lettuce and dipped in rice vinegar. This was one of my favorite snacks back in my college days when I had vegan room-mates. You can substitute the tofu for mozarella cheese also.
