  • If you're both friends, you can go into your settings and turn on your Diary Sharing. When you friend looks at your food diary, they will have an option to copy your meal to their diary.
  • For me, eating better isn't from motivation but from routine. It's not that you WANT to do this, it's just something that you do. After about 21 days a habit turns more into a routine, so that generally helps. I've fallen off the wagon plenty. In 2012 I lost 60lbs and gained all of it back and more since. Now I'm 50lbs…
  • Greek yogurt with protein powder, pb2, and fruit Turkey jerky roasted chickpeas Quest bars, which if you put them in the microwave for 10 seconds, they have the semblance of taste! CLIF bars
  • Hi! From what I understand, eating lots of protein without getting enough fat can lead to kidney problems. I would strongly suggest that you consult with a nutritionist or your doctor before doing such a diet. I am eating at a deficit and am aiming for a high protein diet, so you may be able to get some information from my…
  • Calipers, DEXA Scans, and finally the old ribbon measure test. The scan is the most accurate but it's not available to everyone. If you are looking to see progress in the gym, you will be gaining weight as you put on muscle, and you'll need to eat more to fuel strength. You may want to ask this in the Fitness & Exercise…
  • Never heard of Hannah, but she's got to be better than Freelee.
  • You already lost down to 213, so you know what works. The hard part is sticking to it. Lifting weights will help, as putting on muscle will help burn more calories and assist in keeping off the weight. Get your protein and your fiber to help you feel full. I have about 100 lbs to lose.
  • My advice would be good luck. I've tried three times before finding out that restrictive diets like keto just aren't for me. If I can't have my beans then no thank you.
  • Why Whole30? What happens after the 30 days?
  • Currently chowing down on a Wendy's apple pecan chicken salad. Love that thing.
  • If you want muscle gain, put in your stats here and eat at a surplus. Tell MFP you want to gain 1/2 pound a week and lift heavy. Get your protein and carbs in. I wish it could be my turn to bulk :(
  • Fajitas all the way. Ask if they can sub refried beans for black beans. If not, skip them. A little rice is alright. Pico de gallo is the best thing on earth. Go for corn tortillas if you must have them.
  • 5x5 is a great program and will provide far more benefit to a beginner as opposed to some insane 19 day split where you break up arm day, chest day, hamstring day, left anterior delt day, and eye day.
  • Brown rice, cooked ground turkey, and a vegetable of your choice. Throw in container, microwave at lunch.

  • Wrist wraps can help, but make sure you're using proper form. Mark Rippetoe has a channel called Starting Strength on YouTube where he has great form videos on all the barbell lifts. Other note - this would probably fare better on the Exercise board, not the Food and Nutrition board.
  • If each pour is about 1/2 oz, and you're doing 30 tastings, then log 16oz of 'wine.' That way, you cover the generous pourers. 384 cals.
  • Crossfit workouts vary widely from box to box. I'd log it as strength training for however long the session went.
  • You're right. Heavy Lifting + Simple Calorie Counting is king.
  • Bottom line, if you want to get rid of a muffin top, you need to count your calories. Eat at a deficit and lift weights. Find a proven *program*, not a workout or a routine.
  • Cooking in advance is nice - there are thousands of videos on YouTube on how to meal prep. The single biggest thing that many people overlook is to weigh ALL your solid foods. If you measure out a 1/2 cup of brown rice and I measure out a 1/2 cup of brown rice, they will all be different amounts. But if we both measure out…
  • "Toning" means building muscle / burning fat. If you have no access to weight, you'll have to go bodyweight. Pushups, crunches, situps will help a little, but if you really want to see results you'll have to get near some weights. Is there no gym near you? Can you get some dumbbells from any store near you? Craigslist in…
  • If you are a beginner, you will see some small improvements from 30 days of unweighted squats. That being said, a full-body workout with weights would be far more beneficial.
  • Thankfully, my fitbit surge has helped me on this. I tend to underlog what it tells me for when I lift, since those cals seem really high (even though I'm way up there in weight). Read some reviews and found they generally underreport your HR. Just stick with the MFP suggestion for time.
  • Depends on how dodgy it is, but correctly-performed squats have done wonders for mine. I'd imagine any correctly performed strength training exercises that requires a hinge at the knee would help build it up - deadlift, leg press... Check out the exercises at exrx.net and get with a trainer at a gym to see what you can do.…
  • Don't forget the fish itself, which is made up of chemicals! And the bag it came in. And your car. And your clothes. And you. All made up of chemicals!
  • In water?! No. Never. As a drink: 1 scoop chocolate protein 1 cup almond milk 1 banana 1 tbsp cocoa powder OR 1 scoop chocolate protein 1/4 cup almond milk Dump in a big cup of coffee
  • Chocolate Halo Top is awesome. As far as Arctic Zero goes, all I've tried is awful except for the brownie blast, which is actually pretty awesome.
  • Like I said, if it works for you, that's what's important! The ultimate goal of *any* weight-loss strategy is calorie deficits. A lot of people misunderstand keto and think you can eat 5400 cals of bacon, steak, eggs, and pork rinds. It is absolutely possible to gain weight on low carb diets. I'm not saying you fall into…
  • Add me! If you really want an accountabilibuddy, make sure to turn your diary sharing on for friends. My diary is open to all, so you can look at me trying to choke down all this protein.
  • Wendy's Apple Pecan Chicken Salad, use only 1 packet of dressing. It's about 2 months worth of sodium but it's so goooooooooood. Don't want a salad? Get a large chili and dump it on a plain baked potato.
