  • If you are going to put something on your body permanently, proper research of an artist, including checking out all their work and reputation, is necessary. Also, don't tattoo Twilight characters... My artist is world known, and I drive 10 hours to see her twice a year. It is an actual work of art by an actual artist who…
  • Sure looks like henna to me. I have 25 hours of tattoo work (on my back) and I have never had a tattoo heal like that.
  • AGREE and AGREE! You need to read the book The First 20 MInutes. More cardio will not "tone" - in fact "toning" is misleading. Lift heavier weights, build lean muscle mass and burn more fat.
  • I'm just happy if my socks match. Who cares about make-up. I'm not looking at anyone there, and most likely they are not looking at me.
  • an hour is plenty but it really depends on WHAT you are doing at the gym. If you want to maximize your time, do high intensity interval training or tabata intervals to get the most benefit in a short amount of time. For cardio, push yourself - don't do what is comfortable.
  • I was just reading a book that just addressed this very thing. Either is desirable, as long as you do it. Your body sort of adjusts to your 20 minutes, so to continue to challenge your muscles and body, you need to do either: change the duration or the intensity. It's really up to you. If you want to keep your workouts…
  • I'd pick distance over speed. Speed comes with time. One of the biggest mistakes beginning runners make is wanting to go faster to soon. I have run two half marathons and am working on my third. This is the first time in training where I am actually working on my speed.
  • Anything is possible if you keep at it. You have to work hard, and keep working hard.
  • That, to me, is almost impossible to answer. I wear a 10 and weight 168. Someone else might be a 10 at 150, and someone else at 200. Everyone's body carries weight so differently, and everyone has a different build.
  • I count coffee as coffee and water as water. Coffee has calories - maybe a small about, but they are there. I count them all.
  • If you can fix it, then don't worry about it. If you can't fix it, then don't worry about it. That's probably my favorite piece of advice. There is no sense in worrying over things we cannot control.
  • "Be the change you want to see in the world" I think about this often.
  • as backwards as it sounds, you are not eating enough. Make sure you get your 1200 in at minimum. When you dont eat enough, your body will start to fight you and you wont lose anything.
  • My running program has me doing two to three 25-45 minutes runs during the week with a long run on the weekend. On my off days I cross train. You might be running too much. I don't hit my 7 mile run until late in the 12 week program and my peak run is only 10 miles, with two tapering down runs before I even get to race…
  • I have completed two half marathons this year. Are you following a program? I highly recommend following a training program. How many miles have you put on your shoes? What type of knee pain do you have? Does the pain extend from the knee up the back of the thigh? Is it under the knee cap? Is is to the side? Foam rollers…
  • what's wrong with asking for motivation? these message boards and this site are all about social community support. if you dont want motivation, then I guess don't ask for any friends either. If you can do this all on your own, go for it. in my opinion, social motivation keeps people going, makes the accountable and have…
  • Life is really like one big math equation. Calories in and calories out. When we start to record everything, and see it in black and white, it is easier for us to see what we are doing. Kudos to you! Keep up the good work!
  • I have allergies too, basically to everything that grows outside, mold, and dust. Typically I am miserable, but for the past couple of years I have gotten away from excessive dairy. I allergies are still there but now I can just take a Zyrtec and I'm good. I run and workout outside all the time and have had minimal issues.
  • That's the one I have, and I LOVE it.
  • I have an Oster, and you can pick one up for under $20. I use it every day. Crushes ice too.
  • I can get on board with the Captain. :)
  • Studies have shown that sweeteners trigger your brain into wanting more. Just drink more water. Stay away from the crap.
  • http://www.nutritionresearchcenter.org/healthnews/what-happens-to-your-body-if-you-drink-a-coke-right-now/ I would say just stop drinking it. It's full of bad stuff. If you need a diet soda, try Zevia. It's somewhat less horrifying.
  • YES YES YES and YES. Listen to this person.
  • hmmm...perhaps just do some aerobic type classes that do not involve lifting. the motion of moving the arms is better than not. doing all legs and core might get really boring  can you do planks from your elbow/forearms? there are lots of good plank circuits to do.
  • I push through. Most times I feel better afterward. I don't let it get in the way of my routines. I drink plenty of water to help with the bloat and just push through. I do a lot of 5K runs, and there have been plenty of times a race has come up during that time. Not much I can do about it so I just keep going.
  • building muscle mass will burn fat more efficiently. try to keep a balance of cardio and strength training, and don't be afraid of heavier weights. you need to challenge those muscles. you won't turn into he-woman. I see a trainer 4-5 times a week, and he encourages heavier weights all the time.
  • Just enjoy your run! Enjoy the crowd, the fun, and the atmosphere. Enjoy the course! I tend to not think of them as races anymore, but fun social gatherings. I run at my comfortable pace, and keep to the right because I am slow. I just really like to take it all in and have fun. I dont worry about speed or pace or the…
  • I'm not sure why it would happen barefoot, unless it is the way your foot strikes. When you have running shoes, running shoes should always be at least a 1/2 size bigger that what you would normally wear. Your toes swell when you run. Any good running store will not only offer running classes and groups for all levels, but…
