Need Some Help

I worked out this morning for about an hour. I did that because I have plans for after work. Monday and Tuesday I hadn't gotten enough sleep to go in to the gym before work, so I went after work. I am only getting about an hour-hour and fifteen minutes of a workout in. I guess this is better than nothing, but I feel like it's enough. Is it enough? Right now that is about the only time Monday-Thursday that I have to workout. I work ten hour days (5:30 a - 4p) and I don't want to be working out super close to bedtime because I know I won't be able to fall asleep.

an hour is plenty but it really depends on WHAT you are doing at the gym.
If you want to maximize your time, do high intensity interval training or tabata intervals to get the most benefit in a short amount of time. For cardio, push yourself - don't do what is comfortable.0 -
I try to do 45 minutes of cardio: high level on the elliptical, rowing maching, or the treadmill. I try to do about two cardio machines. I am also trying to increase my running time on the treadmill. By the time I am done I am completely drenched in sweat. I am following a trainer's workout book for the weights part, I can't remember his name. I feel sore the next day and feel like it should be enough, but I guess for some reason I think I should do 2 or more hours a day.0

The only time I put in a full hour at once is when I run over 6 miles. I usually do about 40 minutes when I hit the gym on lunch. But, it really does matter WHAT you're doing for the 60-75 min. Have you had a trainer at the gym help you set up a workout schedule so your getting a good mix of strength and cardio?? It IS important to have a good mix of both!0

I would get a heart rate monitor with chest strap and figure out a good calorie burn that works for you. Perhaps it's 400, 500, or 600 per day. It really isn't about the amount of time that you're at the gym get to your calorie burn goal and get outta dodge. If you're there for an hour and a half but burn 400 calories could you do that more efficiently with different exercises to be done in a half hour? It's truly the calories out there you're after regardless of how long it actually takes you.0
