@rosfraser9 Here's the application :smile:

This is so true - and not helped by medical professionals pushing surgeries & medications that result in fast weight loss but no real education about a healthy lifestyle!
-
Term starting next week - applications are still open!

This is the best challenge on MFP! If you haven't joined yet, get onto it!

@Kurtize Here is also a site which lists out all the available colours for bbcode  https://absitomen.com/index.php?topic=331.0

@Sand_TIger Highly recommend Get Fit With Rick for at-home cardio! He has a bunch of free videos on YouTube which he's adding to all the time - or for a fee, you can access an even larger library on his website. It's theoretically walking, but very fast-paced & low impact, has a variety of moves to work different muscles,…

PRE-CHALLENGE ACTIVITY #8: Getting Ready I'm ready and raring to go!
-
PRE-CHALLENGE ACTIVITY #7: Have You Made An Appointment With Yourself? I am pretty good at checking in to MFP daily on work days, but I have an avoidance tendency when I'm at home on days off/weekends. I have added tasks to my planner and my tracking spreadsheet which I already use, that should help me stay on track!
-
COUNTDOWN ACTIVITY #6: Starting Measurements I have taken my measurements a week or so ago, and I weigh daily. I plan to measure once a month.

PRE-CHALLENGE ACTIVITY #5: Mindful Eating vs. Emotional Eating I am definitely an emotional eater! This is one of my biggest challenges on my health journey. I am particularly bad for it when I'm alone, and I struggle a lot with leaving food unfinished (I'm a member of the clean plate club). Coupled with this, I struggle…

PRE-CHALLENGE ACTIVITY #4: Exercise Plan I enjoy low impact cardio and yoga. I dislike strength training. So my challenge is to find a balance that fits, because all three types of exercise are important! My exercise plan is as follows: 1. Follow Get Fit with Rick's Sweat, Sculpt & Shred schedule - these are 5x videos per…
-
Pre-Challenge Activity #3: Meal Plan My meal plan is simple: 1. High protein - aim for 130-150g per day 2. Choose higher fibre options where possible 3. Aim for 2 fruit + 5 veg per day 4. No eating from open containers 5. Track every bite, lick & sip!
-
Pre-Challenge Activity #2: SET SOME GOALS! My overall goal is to lose 5% bodyweight this season's challenge. For me, that's 6.7kg (14.7 lbs) which is 0.8kg (1.8 lbs) per week. To achieve that goal, my goal breakdown is: 1. Aim for an average daily calorie deficit of 900 calories. My sedentary calorie burn is estimated at…

Pre-Challenge Activity #1: INFORMATION and YOUR INPUT! My reason for being here is to reduce my bodyweight. I am a serial starter, a typical yo-yo dieter, and I always fall back into old habits. So I'm looking to build better habits slowly, and set myself up for success. I know the scale isn't the be all and end all, but…

How many 5% Challenges have you done? This is my first one  What do you like to do for fun? I don't get a whole lot of free time, but when I do I love to read, do puzzles, build Lego, play video games, or just hang out with my little family What major city do you live in or near? State? Nearest city is Sydney, NSW -…

Hi, I'd like to join please, if it's not too late! Any team is fine

Awww Chris that's such a cute pic!

Thanks for the mini challenge, I will give it a go. Last time I tested a plank I could do about 45 seconds. I work at a mine site where we have to have periodic medicals which include functional tests - amongst other things, one of them is a plank. We're meant to aim for 2 minutes (!) but I don't think anybody can actually…

Awww Chris, he's super cute!!

Thanks for the welcome, Karen  My cute lil man is my son  He's 4.5 and goes to preschool 3 days a week. This week they have book week so they'll be dressing up as characters from their favourite books on Thursday. I asked who he wanted to dress as, and he straight away said "Harry Potter"! My heart could've…

There are some great home workout videos on YouTube for free - Get Fit with Rick has some great cardio/walking videos which are pretty well silent for your neighbours, and there are loads of others too.

Shelley, I have insulin resistance (and PCOS) so I do keep some things on hand to help when my blood sugar drops - the trouble is knowing how much to have. Glucose just on its own makes me feel ill, and I find better results when there is some protein included (otherwise it spikes too high afterwards). I'm just still…

Aww happy birthday to your mom! August 14th was my Grandma's birthday too, she would have been 103 this year!
-
@KAR1959 and @kjs1228 Beautiful pics, thanks for sharing! I had an ok day yesterday (Monday). I ate too many calories, mostly because my blood sugar dropped in the afternoon and I needed to eat something to bring it back up - it's dangerous because it takes a little time to have an effect so I end up eating more than I…

Chris, I am a coffee snob too. I don't blend my beans but I do grind my own. Our espresso machine at home is the best thing we ever bought! It has preset functions that you can customise so we have it set to make the perfect latte. The milk makes a difference too - we use a local single-source milk that is just beautiful…

Hahahha Shelley, I never think about people trying to imagine my accent! Listen to Margot Robbie or Rebel Wilson and my accent is mostly the same as theirs lol. Today my 4yo and I got the soccer ball out and kicked it around for a while. It was fun and we enjoyed the warm sunshine as we’re starting to come out of winter…

Shelley - I love my Apple Watch, can’t be without it lol. I’m not too familiar with what the Fitbit challenges were so not sure how it compares. But with Apple Watch you have three rings to close each day - movement (calorie burn), exercise (minutes) and stand (basically you have to be standing/moving around for a minute…

I have an Apple Watch  I actually just got a new one for my birthday a few days ago lol my old one was about 4-5 years old and was no longer able to last the whole day without a charge, which is of limited use - plus it would occasionally have a glitch where it would decide it was flat, even though it wasn't, and…
