  • I started with Biggest Loser DVD's. They have 5 minute warm-up & cool down plus one 20 minute and 2 ten minute (or close) sessions. I started with the warm-up, 20 minutes, and the cool down and it was miserable! I couldn't do a good portion of the workout and was sure I'd never be able to complete it. And I talked to the…
  • Today was day 5. And I can feel the love/hate thing already. I'll be traveling for the next 3 weeks for work - next week I'll still be able to do my insanity with my laptop but not sure about the following two weeks. Thinking I will be doing month 1 again just after you start on the 30th. It is intense but I already think…
  • I just ordered mine and it should arrive tomorrow (9/6). Planning to start on Saturday, so will be a week late as well. Excited to start but a little nervous after reading the posts! :ohwell:
  • I too admire your determination and your strength - obviously you've been through some struggles! I am 5'8" and in the research I have done it seems a healthy weight is between 135 and 160. Quite the range! I did determine a goal weight but have since decided that trying to eat healthily and track calories in/out works out…
  • I have the Polar FT40 and I love it. It does the heart rate, calories, and has the fitness test. It was a gift from my hubby so I'm not positive about the cost - I know it is a bit more expensive that the FT4. Polar is definitely a good name in HRM's.
  • Very well stated! Congratulations on every step that has you where you are today!
  • JM does have a great cardio DVD as well - Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism. It is almost an hour but it is a circuit workout so if you are short on time you can just cut out some circuits. I really like it.
  • I keep mine on for the whole workout. Most of your calorie burn comes from the workout itself, but I think the whole thing counts as your exercise session...
  • I like 100% Any Whey protein powder from Optimum Nutrition - it really does not have any flavor so you can add anything to it. Sometimes I use it to make muffins and I put it in my oatmeal in the mornings and in smoothies. You can buy it at GNC stores but it is kind of spendy. I found I could get twice the amount for the…
  • I don't know that there is a way to counteract what our bodies do during our time of month. Just ride it out, knowing that it is water weight, etc that goes with the change and it will be gone in a few days. I gain up to 5 but then see it go away when I step on the scale again a week later. I have a tendency to stay…
  • I agree with all the above comments - it is GOOD that you want to take care of you now. Putting those habits into place now will make this easy-breezy for you for all of your days and that is a good thing. I was a 20 something that ate whatever I wanted and never did any real exercise. It is not as easy to lose that weight…
  • I am no expert, so... I know my weight fluctuates quite a bit - surprisingly more than I was aware of. Not sure how often you are weighing in, but all that exercise is building some muscle, too, which is good but does weigh. Rest days are definitely important and consistency and patience are huge in this health/weight…
  • Hubby time is wonderful!! BUT... time to take care of you will only make hubby time better in the long run. Does that help at all??
  • Tee-hee-hee... My hubby does that too, but that is pretty good motivation for me!
  • Nope. Thanks for saying it in a way that sticks. Ewww... :frown: :embarassed: :frown:
  • You go girl! :flowerforyou: No such thing as bragging about things like that on MFP. You should be proud of you!!
  • Thanks Ed - that was just the boost I needed today. You have an amazing weekend.
  • It really is possible. I use a HRM and when I do the whole hour I am usually between 200 and 230. I don't feel like I work as hard as a cardio workout until I feel my shoulders and abs the next day. I think you are good!
  • I like the tough love reply - we all need that sometime! I read a post from someone recently that said they finally came to the conclusion that most folks at the gym are so busy thinking the same thing you are that they aren't paying as much attention to you as you think! So, get in there and do it, knowing that…
  • Of course! Pals are what make this site so great. Best of luck on your journey. I know the calorie counting turned out to be the best tool for me. Welcome... :flowerforyou:
  • I did that one this morning. I think circuit training works fine. I use a HRM so I actually added this as one of my workouts and just log it that way. The circuit training was pretty close for me as far as calories burned. Good luck!
  • Wine - because of the empty calories and because a big part of our church ministry is working with addicts. I am like you with food, however - I just try to eat everything in moderation. I try to stay away from things that I know I have a hard time stopping... Oreos, chips.

  • 4:30 am Monday thru Friday (most often - sometimes I take a day off) and then either Saturday or Sunday. I try to work out 5 days and take two off. Always for at least 30 minutes, sometimes for an hour and I just mix the different DVD's I have.
  • Great reminders, Rick - thanks!!
  • Many of us are private about different things. This is a great place to share. Best of luck to you.
  • Just finished my Bachelor's degree online while working full-time. Yippee!!
  • Morning Jen! I used to have heartburn lots - too much soda and really crappy foods. Now I never have it, but my hubby has the same type of thing you do, so we have to pay attention to what we put in him. Spicy foods are definitely out and he just told me that making sure he doesn't eat too much at one time is also helpful…
  • Wow! Didn't know there were so many ideas - some that I need to try. I have mine with unsweetened applesauce and cinnamon. Very yummy as well. =)
  • Reality TV :frown: Mushrooms (aka fungus) :indifferent: Twilight  High heels
  • I have both of those DVDs and the 30 Day Shred. Every time I can do more I get excited because they make you work so hard! I'm adding you... =)
