  • @aganey People who have known me my whole life don't recognize me. The reflection in the mirror shocks me sometimes, because I don't recognize myself! But I'm the same person looking out. Which causes me some angst, because in public I am treated so much differently than before, and interestingly, it isn't always positive…
  • @cynwyn If I can anyone can! I have absolute respect for those who have had or want gastric surgery, but I'm proof it isn't always necessary. And please consider a sleep study if you even suspect an issue. Treatment for sleep apnea was the first and most important step toward me becoming healthier. @superc Yes! More than…
  • @judy I was 39. Turned 40 and had her 5 days later!
  • I used MFP in 2012 and lost many, many pounds. And from Christmas 2013, when my dad passed away unexpectedly, until Dec 2015, I ballooned up to 385 lbs. At least 60 pounds was swelling/edema. I was admitted to ICU Dec 19, 2015 and watched around the clock to make sure I breathed. I was almost put on a ventilator. I was…
  • Waited too long to edit. Should be 98 days of logging.
  • 87 days of logging and I'm down 50.6 pounds. Height 5'10 SW (in 2012) 311 lb SW (May 2017) 271 lb CW 220.4
  • I use a loufah every day in the shower on my problem areas and then apply lotion after drying off. They say nothing helps, but I hope this will help some. I'm down 90 pounds with 35 left to go. Surgery is probably in my future as well. :(
  • My diary is open to friends. Most of my calories are at night. I love to cook, so there is usually a long list of ingredients. I will warn you. I weigh every morning and log every loss, even if its only .1 lb. As of today, I'm down 90 pounds with 45 to goal. So 2/3 of the way there! Please anyone add me, as I few active…
  • I wanted to be able to cross my legs at the knee while sitting. This past week I have finally lost enough that I can comfortably sit with my legs crossed. It's a wonderful feeling to have made this goal.
  • My diary is open to friends. Like another poster, most of my calories are at dinner and usually include a long list of ingredients. I love to cook. Anyone may feel free to add me, as I enjoy other's food diaries for inspiration. I will worn you though. I weigh myself every morning and log every loss even if it is only .1…
  • The 14 calorie frozen fruit and vanilla cream bars are a hit at my house. Love Aldi's!
  • I've been using it for a week or two. It really zaps my battery. I think I'll check out Google fit.
  • Try a chiropractor first. It helps, usually small copay, easy appointments and no ex rays. Highly recommended you try this first.
  • Will you ladies also share calorie/macro percentages, and any advice about avoiding supply dwindle? Thanks! Also please add me - 40 YO, second time mom to 15 week daughter. Almost exclusively breastfeeding. I'm returning to MFP after a long, and now realized, missed, absence, and could use and give lots of motivation and…
  • I started at 311.8, currently at 235, trying to get down to 177. It's coming off pretty quickly. I log everyday and love to offer support. Add me, if you like.
  • Fine point well made Newmooon.
  • I haven't climbed in about 15 years, but like you, it made me ravenous. I say it does burn way more calories than swimming or anything I've ever done. The best part was how I FELT for the first times the limits of what my body was capable of. I'm curious to see what your HRM says, so please post back, and I wanted to give…
  • I started Atkins June 18. I'm down 50 pounds. I take a lot less naps. I have more energy. My heartburn is gone on the days I don't overeat carbs. I get up much earlier in the morning. The fat and protein keeps me feeling satisfied. I like it. I'll probably restrict carbs the rest of my life.
  • I'm a home brewer. One of our last recipes was a near perfect hefeweizen, that tastes almost exactly like Paulaner. Good mouth feel and everything. We tried a couple of sorghum batches recently. They're still in secondary fermentation. We have some extra honey from our hives, so tonight we're brewing a Braggot. My favorite…
  • I think you are eating too many initially. Cut the Fiber one bar, the apple, the beans, the yogurt, and go for a leafy or low carb veggie for supper. I don't know if your veg at supper was a sweet potato or carrots (high carbs) or spinach. Give it another week, and keep your net carb intake below 25 a day for 14 days.…
  • All our bodies can store is 36-48 hours worth of glycogen, according to Dr. Atkins. After 48 hours you should be back in ketosis. Check a strip in the morning and see. I too will be ketone stripping in the morning. My induction started Tuesday morning. My last real carb meal was Monday night, so I'm hoping to see purple or…
  • Wow, just wow. Good luck with maintenance. Let us know how it goes.
  • Thanks for the replies. I agree too that it has to be a lifestyle change, but I'm still relatively new to this and I haven't wrapped my mind around that yet. Getting there quickly though. I'm racking my brain, hoping that I haven't said or done anything insensitive to him. I don't want to make him self conscious.…
  • When I was heavier, I was clumsier. I'd underestimate how much room I needed to go through a door frame to the side or around a table. Seems I was constantly running into or bumping something or someone. Now, since I'm smaller, there's more room to maneuver my body.
  • My underwear keeps falling down, usually at the most inopportune times. I have to go to the bathroom and hike them up again. Luckily, it hasn't happened when I was wearing a skirt. Time to invest in some new 'draws'.
  • Is your thyroid out of whack? A simple blood test can tell your doc that.
  • My goal is to lose 135 pounds. I'm far down, so far. Friend me if you like, we could both use the motivation, for I hate to say, a long time.
  • We were sitting outside tonight, and I almost asked him to change me chairs, since he was sitting in the sturdier one. Then I thought, no, I weigh less now, keep the older chair! Great feeling...
