No results

Hello!

I am new at Myfitnesspal and I really need your help. I can't lose any weight no matter what I do. My weight is 63 kilograms and my height is 165 centimeters. I've been trying for the last 9 months and no matter how much I work out and how I plan my meals nothing changes. I completed Insanity wokout and I didn't notice any improvement on my body. The last three months I was working out by the Body Revolution program (by Jillian Michaels) and had a strick diet and again NO RESULTS. I lost all my motivation and I don't know what to do. The last few days I've been searching all over the internet what may be the couse of this. I think that I was eating less calories than I should so my body went into starvation mode and prevent any weight loss. Can low calorie intake be the couse of my problem? If anyone can help me to sort this out I would be really thankful. Thank you in advance and I apologize for any mistakes - I don't speak english fluently :).

Is your thyroid out of whack? A simple blood test can tell your doc that.

    Thyroid or adrenals.

...Or open your diary :) Tell us what cardio/strengh training you've done.

    Etc.
  • Thank you all. I have opened my diary but that won't help because I don't have any entries yet. I registered on Myfitnesspal a long time ago and I totally forgot about it until today. I can write what I usually eat every day if it helps.

Breakfast: 2-3 scrambled eggs with vegetables (tomato, onion)
Then I do my workout, after workout I drink my after workout drink (1 banana, coconut water, water and ice mixed in a blender)
Lunch: 100g boneless skinless steamed chicken breast with a large bowl of lettuce
Snack (occasional): a little bit of cottage cheese or an apple and a few almonds
Dinner: 1 or half tuna can with 1 tomato

Once in a while I also had a cheat meal but that was maybe once every two weeks.
This was my meal plan the most of the months. Lately (last three months) my meal plan looked like this:

    Breakfast: the same
After workout drink: maybe twice a week (I also added a little bit of outmeal)
Lunch: a lot of vegetables (tomato, onion, pepper) with a little bit of chicken or tuna
Dinner: the same or a little bit of cottage cheese or a non fat yogurt

I usually had just three meals so the total amount of calories was pretty low. I didn't use any program to count my calories so I don't know the exact number of consumed calories. I know that counting calories is very important especially in my case so I will start counting them from tomorrow on. I also don't know if I have any problems with my thyroid, I will check an appointment with my doctor in next few days because I'm a little worried. And again, thank you all for your help :)

Eat something! My goodness - how are you even making it through the day on that few calories? No wonder you're struggling - have some food and start logging and I bet you'll start seeing some changes.

I think you will get the same reply lots of ways....

The purpose of this site is to track what you eat and the macro nutrients in that food, based on being honest with yourself you can set sensible (for you) goals and measure success against these goals every day.

So use the calculator on this site or any other to work out how much you should be eating - enter these goals and then track your self including calories burnt from excerise for a month or two, then see where you are.

From what you said you are eating you are starving yourself....

First no one can keep that level of calories up for ever so it is not a life style change just a diet and diets don't work
Then people will say (I do not believe this myself) you enter starvation mode

Well there could be one of two things wrong here.....

    1) you are not being honest. If your not honest about what you actually eat; to include all snacks. And not honest about your exercise you will not see any results. You must track everything at first. You will be amazed at how much we eat/drink and do not realize the extra calories/fat that we take in.

    or

    2) you have a medical issue and need doctors help w/ diet and or medication

Either way - the choice adn decision is up to you. Go to the doctor and or be honest with yourself!!

You say you can't lose weight no matter what you do.........but you haven't actually done the My Fitness Pal program?

You need to start tracking your calories and trying to hit just below or at your goal every day. Eat all (or almost all) the calories given to you.

Exercise some if you want. And if you do, eat those calories back. There is already a deficit built in that assumes no activity, so if you do exercise, you need to replenish that or your deficit will be too large.

Try this for 2 months. Follow it exactly. And if you still aren't losing any weight or inches, come back and ask the forums for help again. But you can't claim that you can't lose weight until you actually do the program you are signed up for.
  • Again thank you all for your replies. I am honest about everything I wrote, I don't eat a lot because my body has adjusted to low calorie intake so I'm not really hungry most of the time. Yes I know that would be better if I tried My Fitness Pal program first but I have totally forgot about this program and I'm really sorry for that. I started eating more and now I note every calorie that I consume on my food diary. I will keep track every day and still work out like before and I hope for better results :)

You're within the healthy range as far as BMI is concerned, which means you don't have a lot to lose. I would recommend setting you weight loss goal to 1/2 pound per week and try your best to meet that calorie goal every day. Once you start tracking your food you'll know for sure but based on what you wrote, it sounds like you're way under calories. You can fill your calories easily by adding in some healthy things like another serving of lean meat at dinner and nuts/nut butter at snack time.

Also, I don't think anyone was meaning to say you were being dishonest, that's just advice - when you start tracking make sure you write everything down. A lot of folks tend to underestimate or "forget" to track little pieces of candy or whatnot thinking it won't matter much. So when someone says they're doing everything right but not losing, people tend to assume they're having these little cheats.

Not sure if you've started taking body measurements but I think that might be a better show of your progress since you're not too far from goal. You may be losing inches (with proper diet and exercise) but the scale might not show it.

    Good luck!

    Yes this!
  • MinnieInMaine thank you for your kind support. I will try my best to reach my everyday goal. I've started taking body measurements but they remained the same in the whole 9 months of working out and eating 'right'. I hope that it works out somehow :), and congratulations on your achievement, I can see that you are already near your goal :).
