  • Story time! Back when I was doing group training sessions, I remember this one lady in the class kept correcting me. Little things here and there. The thing is, there was an instructor right there. He was already helping me out, as I was semi-new. I wish I would have told her to back off, I already had an instructor. But I…
  • It "doesn't affect you", and yet here you are. And that next quoted line contradicts yourself. If it didn't affect you, you wouldn't "take offense" to what some preach to others.
  • Pretty much was going to say thing. So much people get up in arms because "Well, this wasn't *my* experience, therefore yours must be invalid!", and then find a bunch of links backing up their preferred "diets." It's not hard to find a bunch of support (or, "support") for your choice because there's SO MUCH out there, on…
  • You "don't need to hear this?" You came to this forum as an apparent newbie (looks like you started MFP in June) and asked a question. A little humility might help you process the advice you've been given several times already.
  • ....Or just some people who HAVE tried the whole portion control / calorie counting thing, with no success (attempted for ~5 months myself). And instead found an alternative that works for THEM. Who cares what others do for themselves?! Why is it anyone's business? Aside from needing a way to express some holier-than-thou…
  • As much as I hate to ruin this circlejerk, I spent 5 months counting calories, watching everything I ate. "All in moderation." I didn't lose a damn thing, weight nor inches. But when I watch my carb intake? Boom! But if everyone wants to continue to operate under the notion that EVERY single body works EXACTLY the same…
  • Wait, what's wrong with a healthy debate? How do you expect people to discuss their opinions without debating JUST a little?
  • When I went from 205 to 185 a few years ago, I didn't see a change, but I did feel it with my clothes. I got lots of compliments from people on the weightloss, but I. Just. Couldn't. See. It. Last year, when I went from 185 to 163, same thing. Could not see a difference, but clothes of course felt better. I ended up going…
  • Same here, it's incredibly frustrating! The worst is when they (they being specified on-call employees) give you their general availability, and not only do you call during those times, but neither do they answer, or even call you back! Even if it's just to decline. It makes no sense: They were hired *specifically* to be…
  • Funny, because any time I do cheat and weigh myself the next day, I always gain about 3-4 pounds. One day makes me gain 3-4 pounds, and it takes 2-3 days to take it off. Which I is why I know I probably shouldn't be having "cheat" days all that often. But maybe that's just me.
  • I started January 3rd, and I've only lost 3 lbs. However, the first few weeks I wasn't eating enough (because I mistakenly thought that was what I was supposed to do), netting about 800-1100 calories a day. Once I upped my calories to about 1,500/net about a week and a half ago, I've lost 3 lbs. Haven't lost anything in…
  • Very well said!
  • Unfortunately, that's not an option. By the time I get off work, and get home from zumba, it's 8pm-8:30pm. Dinner has already been made, and in most cases, they already ate and saved me a plate. Again, I realize it would be ideal for me to tell them to stop making me food, but I really, truly can't. You don't realize how…
  • 1. Those are foods I couldn't find in the MFP list. I Googled them, and that is what I found. Quick add was just a faster method than starting a whole new food. 2. Yeah, when I do make my own food, I try to save the recipes (which I've already done). But one thing that I didn't post in the OP (forgot, but it's further down…
  • No, I'm not guessing. Those are just times when I can't find something in MFP, so I Google it, and that's what I find. I just do the Quick Add because it's easier. I do log EVERYTHING, with the exception of some previous dinners (for reasons mentioned in the OP), but I'll start logging that more consistently as well.…
  • Yeah, I think you're right. I'm going to be consistent about it from here on out. I do try to be as accurate as possible, but sadly, it does drive me crazy. Part of me tells myself, you've calculated everything, you can have this one cookie. But then another part says "NO FATTY YOU DON'T DESERVE COOKIES, BRING ON THE…
  • Oh! One thing I forgot to mention: My BF's parents are living with us for a bit. They cook our dinners. They're relatively healthy dinners, all homemade from scratch. I'm careful about my portion sizes, and try to keep it light on the more carb-y stuff. I try to figure what calories from researching online the different…
  • Thanks! I'm going to try a few different things here, and see what happens. I did the counting calories thing years ago, and didn't really lose then either. The only thing that truly worked was keto, and I was MISERABLE on it. Gained it all back when I went off, anyways. I already had my thyroid tested juuuuust in case,…
  • Well, keep in mind that's 970 calories for a 90 minute class. And I do go "all out" because I've been going for a while and know all of the routines well. But, I'm planning on buying a heart rate monitor tomorrow when I get paid to know for sure, because you might be right. Thank you!
  • 1. No, I didn't. My original plan was to have one cheat day, but it turned into two. I still wasn't/am not eating anywhere near as poor as I had in the past, I was/am still mindful. But I guess perhaps I should just try forgoing cheat days. 2. Noted.
  • Yeah, I definitely don't eat ALL of my exercise calories back, maybe about 100-200 above, sometimes half. I'll try just sticking to 1,200/cal for a week or so. Thanks!
