Do you guys have any specific sites/books you refer to for your lifting? You all seem to do it (sensibly!) but where did you take the ideas from? I'm running 30 miles per week at the moment but need to strengthen my core (and everything else really). Is there a bible for this? Basically, to summarise the poorly put…

I have measurements from a while back, so I'll look to redo this now and keep this active, as weight isn't much help now. Thanks both :)

Appreciate the sentiment but another collection of information isn't exactly what I'm looking for. Sorry

Appreciate the response :) I use Endomondo when walking and Nike+ when running to give me an idea of calories. Sure they aren't exact, but they're consistent. It's very difficult to know what TDEE does and doesn't account for, but I take your point about ensuring I eat to cover it, and eat around exercise to make sure I…

I'm not in any of the leagues of any of the serious runners in this post, but I'm moving from 5k to 10k and I'd welcome any support. Also happy to give support, but can't guarantee it will be remotely helpful Add away...

If he's actually said that, I'd suggest he's not in possession of the family brain cell this year.

1) Championship Manager 01/02 (PC) 2) Cannon Fodder (Amiga) 3) Ratchet and Clank (PS2) I don't even agree with my list - there are too many amazing games to even mention...

Certainly true that you have to do it for yourself - on the flipside though, I do wonder why people hadn't suggested I lose some weight when I was overweight. Works both ways I guess. There are right and wrong ways to do it, essentially he's concerned or he's being unhelpful. Either ignore him, listen to him and lose…

Evening from sunny..sorry...dark, dank and cold Kent. There's a few of us on here...I think. Feel free to add if you want a few more localish people.

I was like you with my nails until I was 26. I can't tell you how I stopped, I just decided that enough was enough and haven't touched them since. In my case, if I bit one I had to bite them all as they wouldn't be uniform. God that sounds weird when you write it. That doesn't help...sorry.

As a newbie to this, I've only bought once - but have heard good things about www.myprotein.com - had no issues with the order etc and the prices seemed decent.

She exercises with me and has taken up MFP - couldn't ask for anyone better.

I can't flirt, nor do I really want to. Happy to befriend anyone - all I can offer is sarcasm though I'm afraid, and a friendly face.

Just to add a +1 to this - in the same boat...well I'm male, but other than that...

I did it on a treadmill and then ran a 5k (outside, obviously). The only thing that was harder was pacing yourself, which is really difficult when you've had the treadmill doing it for you. Hills etc were obviously different, but if you can get through the boredom of treadmills you can get through hills. Do whatever gets…

That would be a yes to both - thank-you.

Oh it won't put me off, worry not - it just seems a bit less challenging now. Maybe I'm adapting, I want week three to really hit me hard.
-
Has anyone else found week two to be quite dull? It's a step up from week one but it feels a bit more monotonous. It might just be me, but I'm looking forward to week three :)

You don't smile in photos - thank god someone else doesn't, looks a lot more genuine :)

This. x1000

I successfully managed to accumulate zero friends from this post - so, plan B... Actually I don't have one, other than begging. Pity me :)

Weekly now, but in the past monthly. It's far more satisfying.

Buying a suit this morning and having to go two sizes lower than my old suits and being told I'm slim by the sales guy. Now, sales guys will say anything but...I'll take it.
-
Day 1 of week 2 done (day 7 in all) - bit of a jump from week 1, but much more fun. Challenging but that's the point! Hope everyone else is enjoying it still :)
-
Honestly, completely the opposite. People kept commenting that I looked slim, which then made me think 'they all thought I was fat before but never said anything'. It also became the only thing people talked to me about if they hadn't seen me for a while. That sounds odd when said out loud (on a forum, so not said out loud…

Week 1 finished today - after it hurting like a...word I won't use...on day 1, the end of the week was a lot more fun and I felt great after seeing how mach easier it was after 6 days. Week 2 starts tomorrow. Everything I've read suggests it's not much fun, so that will be a lovely way to start the weekend. PS I know most…

C25k +1 from me. Helped me to shift weight and go from doing no exercise at all to running a 5k race. Even if you end up not liking the routine of it, it gives you a very good idea as to how to go from nothing to running.
-
Sorry, just noticed this! C25k is this - http://www.c25k.com/ - essentially a program to get you from sitting on the couch to running 5k in 9 weeks. Worked for me and seems to be something a lot of people do.

I picked a number that would have my BMI towards the bottom of the 'Normal' range. As much as I know BMI is as much use as '5 a day', it was a target nonetheless. Now I'm hovering around that range, I've had to reassess. Picking a weight was one thing, but as I'd now like to tone I'll probably stay at this weight or gain.…

Most of my success has come without this site, but it would have been easier with it. As above, check out the success stories and before and after threads - all the inspiration you will ever need.
