  • Fiber One cereals/bars/etc are high in fiber. The original cereal is RIDICULOUSLY high in fiber. Its not exactly *delicious* but its not hard to put down, either. Dump it into some yogurt to make it crunchy.
  • haha, the person before me just wrote about team in training...and to both of you...YES, GIVE IT A TRY!!!! if you have any questions, let me know! also--go right for the full marathon....dont waste time on the half. the training schedule isn't THAT much different, believe it or not! train like you are going for the full,…
  • oh yeah...and PS. weight loss is an amazing benefit of training for a marathon! ive lost 31lbs since the middle of september. my focus has changed from lbs lost to weekly mileage. overall, this has been an amazing experience that i should have tried earlier. i can't say i will be doing a marathon again (all this running…
  • also check into the Team in Training program through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. You can do any type of endurance event that you want...half marathon, full marathon, 100 mile bike ride, triathlon, etc. I'm pretty sure it's teamintraining.org but just google Team in Training and tons of stuff comes up. Team in…
  • Thats exactly the attitude I took: "even if i fail at least i tried and i'll probably lose some weight along the way!" and yes, it WAS a great jump start. Well...I didn't exactly hit the "20 lbs in 4 weeks" But i tried! I started off great, with a 6lb loss in one week, but then for some reason I gained and lost the same…
  • Ugh! I hate this weather too! I am in my last month before running a marathon and my mileage has increased to 5-7 miles a day, plus my long runs on the weekends are 10-20 miles. Try doing that on a treadmill! It's IMPOSSIBLE!!! I prefer to go outside, and the cold doesnt bother me...but the snow and ice make it difficult…
  • grey goose lemon and water.....splash of cranberry....squeeze lemon or lime slices in it....you can drink em all night long and not worry about the hangover because of the water! woot woot! have fun!
  • YES YES YES!!! (it does get easier!) but stairs are awesome...i swear by them! your idea is great and you should keep doing it. push yourself to keep a steady pace the entire time instead of going fast at first and slowing down by the end. i used to do stairs in two capacities: first i did it outside at our local art…
  • to add to this... i lost 75 lbs in 7 months following Weight Watchers, doing 65 mins of cardio 4-5 days a week, and throwing in my own "cheat day" each week directly after my 530pm WW meeting. On weigh-in days I would eat breakfast and a snack, then not eat or drink an excessive amount until the weigh-in meeting at 530.…
  • save room for one serving of (raw) almonds...sometimes add sunflower seeds--no salt yuum...and does the trick!
  • i didnt know what it was so i googled it...and i found the women's health website with a comment section under the article. check out this link....i dont think you will want to try it after reading the feedback :) http://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/womens-health-fit-coach
  • wow!!! thats it? it seemed like more when i used to do it a few months ago! but i guess that makes sense since it's not a very long workout.
  • in your opinions....do the foods listed in the MFP database have accurate sodium contents? I added Fiber to my list of things that I keep track of and I have noticed that not all foods include a number for fiber. just wondering... :)
  • and when you do have the urge to go after all of these wonderful suggestions...don't hunch over and push....sit tall and straight...and you can even put your hands over your head to elongate your spine and digestive tract. kick your feet back under the toilet a little to simulate crouching. i know this all sounds…
  • protein bars are the only reason i am getting in my required amount of protein! so, although i am not "a protein bar person" either, i've learned to grin and bear it. i like clif builder's bars the best (the "builder's" ones are healthier than the regular clif bars and serve as a whole meal.) introducing these types of…
  • ALDI ALDI ALDI!!!! I'm broke...and I too have used the "the dollar menu is cheaper than fresh veggies" excuse. but start shopping at places like Aldi and Price Rite (or whatever your local cheap store is) and you will see a huge difference. a whole cart of food (protein and veggies, both fresh and frozen) can cost upwards…
  • ive never read the book....but i do have her "30 day shred" workout dvd....its awesome! i love it because there are three different levels, and then within each level there is a low, medium, and high level...so there are a bunch of options for all types of fitness levels. you say you had great results last time you did…
  • I hear ya on the sick thing! I've been sick since the last week in August, and just now am I starting to get back to normal. I tested positive for H1N1 (oink oink!) and right in the middle of training for my first marathon! But I've pushed through and still managed to make some gains toward my goal. It sucks!!! All I want…
  • it is absolutely delicious!!! i buy the organic kind that has the oil separated at the top...and then i pour the oil out. the only problem this poses is at the end of the jar the almond butter gets a little dry, but you just have to make sure you keep mixing it all the way through from when you first start. (does that make…
  • I'm participating in a "biggest loser" competition at my gym. (grand prize is $1000!!) He has me doing 40-carbs, 40-protein, 20-fat. I've lost 15lbs in 6 weeks (but I also exercise often.) I really like this combination because I feel satisfied throughout the day and I also have enough energy to get through the…
  • I'm doing the same thing....and yes, you can still get all the silly pms symptoms even on the months when you skip your period--retaining water, mood swings, and even sometimes cramping and breakthrough bleeding. BUT....it still beats the real deal. I'm sure it is different for everyone, but a few of my friends have…
  • I'd be interested in checking out the book...have you had anyone else reply to your post about starting the 12 weeks? I'm new to this site and to this forum...so at this point email might be easier for me until I have some time to get more familiar with things. Email me and let me know if you found people who would like to…
