I googled 'easy cheap vegetarian recipes' and found a bunch of sites. This one jumped out at me: http://www.cheapandsimpleveganrecipes.com/ I think it might be just what you're looking for. I've been giving some thought to your situation, and I think the very best thing you could do is learn as much about cooking from…

Easy. A scoop or two of that protein powder, half a banana (freeze it first to make the shake extra frosty) and about a cup or so of a liquid -- could be water, or milk or juice. Throw it in the blender (have you found it yet?) and turn it on high until everything is smooth. If you don't have a banana, try some other…

No weigh-in this week. Just couldn't bear to step on the scale. :ohwell: Next week will be better.

That was my divorce car. :drinker:

1971 Chevy Vega 2-door sedan, turquoise blue. Probably the most awful vehicle on the planet, but I loved it, porous aluminum block and all. Totalled it in an ice storm on my way back to college after winter break. I was supposed to bring it back to the dealer the following week to have the block replaced under warranty. I…

Lentils were my "gateway bean". They don't have quite the same texture as other beans, have a kind of 'nutty' taste and are really easy to cook. This looks like a good recipe to start with: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/lentil-soup/ It sounds very similar to one that I make.

Right here! Lilburn/Stone Mountain. :flowerforyou:

Zero. Zip. Nada. Nothing. Goose egg. :grumble: Second week in a row. Not happy, nope. Not happy at all. Great job, LaDonna! Keep it up!

My condolences on the loss of your grandfather. I hope someone will read to me when it is my time. I did this, many ages and pounds ago. I think its time for me to do it again. It's a dangerous business, walking out your front door..... Barb

Here's a similar pair at Sears. Not leather, but $100 less. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_3ZZVA46322501P?sid=IDx01192011x000001&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=31-38436209-2

Take a look at these sites: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/about-2/ https://www.fitocracy.com/getting-started/ They might appeal to the gamer in him. Best of luck to you!

Hi, there! :flowerforyou: My name is Barb. I'm 55, and have about 100 or so pounds to lose. Surprisingly, my health is pretty good -- BP, cholesterol, sugar are all normal -- so I figure I'd better do something now before I have to rely on a cabinet full of pills and having my cardiologist on speed-dial. I'm hoping to lose…

No one has mentioned Adagio teas yet: http://www.adagio.com Lovely teas and some interesting flavored blends. Me, I like my tea "tea flavored", with the occasional chai or lapsang souchong to mix it up a bit. Knowing I'm a Sherlock fan, my daughter recently sent me several sample packs of the 'Sherlock' series of fandom…

You, madam, are fabulous. I don't care what size your clothes are!
-
I've always heard that 12 pounds is a dress size, but I'm sure it has much to do with how much of that is lean and how much is fat. Fat just takes up more space!

Dehydration, without a doubt. Drink as much plain water as you can today, at least 8 glasses -- more would be better.

Well, it looks like I'm not getting anywhere close to my goal this week. Such is life! I'll do better next week.

I'm on a low-sodium diet, trying to stay under 1500 mg. I'm often under 1000 -- just don't look at today's diary, I had pizza for dinner! Fresh or frozen vegetables, dried beans, and grains are all naturally low in sodium. Most meats are pretty safe as well. Stay away from sausages or pre-seasoned chops or roasts.…

rachy_09, sent you a PM. Barb

Sent you a message. I think we'd be a good fit.

Weight-wise, I'm right in the same ballpark as you. I had my daughter at about the same age as you had your little one, but now she's 15 and I'm 55! If nothing else, I'll serve as a good example of why you should keep on the path to get that weight off NOW, instead of waiting until you're my age. Sending you a…

My fitbit is telling me that I averaged 5000 steps/day last week, and about 4000 steps/day the week before. I'm thinking I should try for 6000 steps/day.

Essence: Make sure you're copying and pasting this entire string: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ami3FDc4piJDdExZV2Fub21vRUMwU0pZalJHb0FnMkE#gid=0 If you still can't get through, you may have some kind of firewall blocking your access. Barb

I'll have internet access tomorrow, but no scale, so I'm checking in today. Starting weight 242, duly noted on the spreadsheet. Now I'm off to pack for a weekend away. We shall see what three and a half days of restaurant food does to my numbers next week! Good luck, everyone!

I'll fill in my SW on Friday, so right now it looks like this: SW: X GW: X-15 15 pounds in 17 weeks, I'd be ok with that. Barb

Drinking water is a great place to start the challenge. I'm in! Barb
-
Great idea for a challenge and perfect timing -- thanks for setting this up! :flowerforyou: I'm up for anything, though having a choice would be nice. How about an 'eat your vegetables' challenge? That's one area where I often need a push. Barb

I need a twin! (Hopefully not an evil one  ) Female Height: 5'5" Age: 55 SW: 245 CW: 244 GW: 140 or thereabouts -- we'll see what feels right. Barb
