  • I went straight vegan almost 3years ago after being a big meat/dairy eater my whole life. I've never felt better on a whole foods plant based diet!
  • Diagnosed 7/11/2007 with stage IV oral cancer (squamous cell carcinoma) in the tongue with metastasis to lymph nodes in left side of neck.
  • Bananas are great! I literally ate 10 on the way to work today after a swim. I usually average around 15 or so per day! Alot of times they will end up in a smoothie that I make.

  • IMO you need more carbs. I wonder if you are in a constant state of ketosis and that makes you feel sickly. Maybe try adding some more fruit to your diet. I don't believe you will gain any weight with higher calories coming from fruits.
  • Distance running works the aerobic system more while interval training is primarily anaerobic. Two different systems. Sounds like you might have a much better anaerobic system most likely due to doing more anaerobic training.
  • Feel free to check out my diary. Yesterday I didn't input everything but go back to Wend. or so and you can see how I do it. I pretty much only eat fruit and veggies.
  • I'm a triathlete and enjoy playing tennis.
  • I've been vegan for about 2 1/2 years and have been eating mostly fruitarian this year.
  • Hey Briana! Welcome to the group. It's amazing the information that is out there on what causes cancer. I've definitely changed my lifestyle too since being diagnosed over 5 years ago. I live on fruits and vegetables and honestly have never felt better. Good on luck on your road through chemo and kicking cancer! Stay…
  • Have you tried eating a couple of apples instead of just one? There aren't many calories in one apple so I would recommend eating as many as you like until you're full.
  • My goal is to experiment eating mostly fruit (being a fruitarian) for about a month. I exercise approximately 5-9x per week. On this diet I want to follow Dr. Graham's 80/10/10 plan. I'm starting at 3000 calories per day and will be curious to see what I weigh in a month's time. I'm 5'10 and currently weigh 150.8lbs. I'm…
  • I notice for me and a lot of other athletes that I train with when in cold weather a tendency if I'm pushing it and inhaling deeply for my chest (lungs, throat) to close up a little bit if it's really cold outside. So of course that would slow me down and cause me to wait for things to open back up. Also, it takes longer…
  • Hey! Nice to meet you. I'm also on levothryoxine following cancer treatment as my thryroid gland got torched from radiation treatment. I definitely think that having thyroid issues contributes to weight instability however I feel that it can be controlled through healthy eating and exercise. Good Luck on your journey to a…
  • I was finishing up my Field Training Exercise in Fort Jackson, NC in Basic Training. The Drill Sergeant's rounded us up in the woods and told us what was going on. At first we thought it was just a mock mission they were preparing for us as we just couldn't grasp that it was actually reality right away.
  • I think people should be proud of their accomplishments and allowed to show off their hard earned results!
  • I believe the off season is great for cross training and doing some things that you maybe don't have time to do in season. With that said it's important to still keep up a good regimen of swimming, biking, and running. Now is the time to do more zones 1-2 (less intensity) to build that base during the off season.
  • Congrats on being Cancer Free!! Also, way to go on losing 20lbs. That's awesome!
  • Looks like both people on this post have been put through the ringer. It's important to remember that recovering from cancer takes time and each day can sometimes seem like a chore but if you both stay the course putting in the work to get healthier day in and day out it will happen. You both can do it. Stay strong and…
  • I'd say I'm somewhere in between. I really enjoy hanging out with friends but definitely also enjoy some down time at home to reboot.
  • I have been a vegan going on two years. I do this for health reasons. Approximately five years at the age of 25 I was diagnosed with stage IV cancer and given a 50% chance to live the rest of the year. Here I am 5 years later, healthier than ever. I was a huge meat, fish, and dairy eater before going vegan. Through the…
  • You eating as a "healthy" vegetarian would be great for both your body and mind. This means incorporating more fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and less processed foods into your diets. I have been a vegan for going on two years now, after my wife and I did research on this particular diet. My wife who has a MS in…
