  • Except for the hatchback part, me too! It's my commuter. Our "road-trip" vehicle is a Buick Enclave, nick-named "BABs" for Big *kitten* Buick. Love that thing for long hauls.
  • 58.7 miles in an hour, and you call THAT traffic?!! Must be nice... ;) Of course, in TX, folks start getting antsy if you are doing less than 70, so I guess I see your point. Drove to Rockport, TX from the DC area last Spring. Nice, courteous drivers.
  • 35 miles each way. I work afternoons, 2p-10p, so I miss *most* of rush hour. If no construction it is 45 min. If, like now, there is construction, the sky is the limit! If I worked Gummint hours, it would run 90-120 min each way, no accidents.
  • Remora makes some nice holsters for concealing. No clips, they stick on their own.
  • Great idea! Oh wait. Going to Jimmy Buffett concert on the 1st. Nevermind! :drinker:
  • Krispy Kreme I can resist - I didn't grow up with them, didn't have one until about 10 yrs ago and it was from a store. Now, Spudnuts, THAT is something else! Thankfully, the one I grew up near is almost 3k miles away, and the closest one to me now is 86 miles.

  • Parking pass is a nice add-on. But for us, it would still mean 5+hrs sitting in traffic, getting in early enough to tailgate, plus the length of the game. So, 10 hrs dedicated to a pre-season game, on little or no notice? Pass.
  • My little brother and I saved each others' lives on the same day. Rogue wave came, I was able to lift him up an embankment but unable to climb it myself. He grabbed my arms and held on while the water washed up to my waist. We were 7 & 9. Watched Mt St Helens erupt on May 18th, 1980. Been thru enough typhoons & hurricanes…
  • And US Marines... :) Never been, but know of it thru history. Stationed in Okinawa, Phillippines, Iceland.
  • Ditto this. I make my own butter, then proceed to make clams alfredo (make the alfredo sauce fresh), a loaf of sourdough, and wash it down with a bottle of vino or some cocktails. Weekends (summer) are for mussels in wine/butter while sitting on the deck. I have now rediscovered my Foreman, this stuff called "Spring Mix",…
  • Edamame. 20 bags at a time. It is about a 20 min drive, so we stock up.
  • If you have a crock pot (slow cooker), make it your best friend. Chicken bones and water on low for several hours makes stock that you can add anything to - more chicken, turkey, ham, and of course, veggies. Beans are also good for slow cooker soup additions. As we get closer to fall and cooler weather, I will be making…
  • This is going to sound odd amidst all the new wardrobes, spa days, fancy shoes, etc. But I have set a prize at the end of a Colt 1911 pistol. I will of course pretty it up with some polished wood grips (cherry? Tiger?) and a pair of nice leather holsters, one shoulder and one hip. Maybe in both brown and black. Gotta have…
  • Awesome! Semper Fi, my future brother! Smart move staying out of the Pork Chop Platoon!
  • Do you like Corn Nuts? Get some garbanzo beans, drain and pat dry. spread on baking sheet, season with whatever you want and stick them in the oven for about 15 min (if I remember correctly). Ta-da!
